AsparagusParticipantI need your honest opinion here guys.
What do you think of this trade?
Sota gets the 4th and 24th pick
Cleveland gets D.Williams and the 18th pick.
With the 4th pick Sota gets to choose between Beal or Barnes and at 24 they could choose Jenkins or the BPA cause maybe someone might slip at the 24th pick for them. While Cleveland will have Williams play 3 (aka Jamison role) to play alongside Irving plus I think both Williams and Thompson game will be benefited if they play together and with the 18th pick they should get Waiters which may be available or the BPA.

TRC1991Participantgiving up williams for the #4 pick only to draft another small forward seems like something only david kahn would do
gulp

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantNo, late in the season Derrick Williams showed how good he can be. He’s shown his flashes already and he seems pretty good.

draftmangtParticipantI really don’t think Williams can play the 3 consistently especialy in the priceton offense Byron Scott runs. The Cavs would be better off staying at 4 and taking Beal or Barnes as both project as near perfect fits for the Cavs.

BiggysmallsParticipantI actually don’t mind the idea…I wouldnt make that trade before draft night though if I’m the wolves.
I have no idea what Dwills value currently is at, some say he could be a key piece in potentially landing a Gasol or Iggy type player, I dont see it. If he can get us the number 4 pick which would be either Barnes or Beal, I’m buying.
If Harrison Barnes wouldve entered the draft last year, he wouldve gone before Dwill. Both Beal and Barnes are better prospects, and both are much better fits for the Wolves. If Williams was going to be a 3 man, why were Wes Johnson, and Martell Webster playing that spot? The guy can be a really good player, but he is not a Small Forward.
Khan wouldnt be drafting another Small Forward, he would be drafting a Small Forward.

sheltwon3ParticipantWilliams is too good. I think early on they did not know how his game was going to mesh but when it did, he put up big numbers. I am sure he will be even better and more consistent next year. You do not trade the number 2 pick for the number 4 pick even if this draft is deep. Williams was in the running to be the number 1 pick at some poing.

morestealsthanscoresParticipanti think it’s a trade that’s even, but doesn’t really work for either side…Cleveland would have a massive crush at the 4 spot (not sold on Williams’ ability to play the 3), Minny would lose Williams before finding out what his ceiling is.
Interesting though.

PulseGlazerParticipantThis might work better with Vesley and the Wizards pick for D Will, Wes and the Minn pick. Even then, it favors Minn a bit much, but hard to see what else works. Then again, the Wash owner said they aren’t trading their pick. It could work in a potentially larger deal with Golden State, maybe? D-Will and another pick for Klay and the 7? Even that seems a bit steep since GS wasted their amnesty.

Andrew1984ParticipantHahahahaha Byron Scott does not run the Princeton offense.

phila9012Participanthow did he do good at the end of the season Williams was 9 for 45 from the field in his last 7 games(look it up. If I am minnesota I would love that trade, barnes fits better with the team. He would have rubio creating offense for him. He would wind up being like a danny granger type of player. If I am cleveland that is a dumb trade, He doesn’t really have a position and he can’t play defense on SF’s. Which makes him an undersized PF.

mds0549ParticipantMinnesota doesn’t need to get younger, if any trades are made they should be made for veterans. The last thing they should do would be to trade a young talent that looked decent in a lockout year for someone that is less experienced. Give Adelman a full offseason and training camp with Williams and he has the chance to make a big improvement. We’ll know if the Hornets are going to try and keep Gordon based on their second pick, if its a guard then they’ll be less likely to match a good 4 year offer from Minny.
