TomShoeParticipantHave you SEEN the ridiculous amount of 3s made in Celtics vs. Knicks game alone? Here’s a few statistics:
- Paul Pierce has 43 points
- He’s also 17-18 in FTs
- This is Rondo’s 23rd game where he had 10+ assists
- The Celtic’s bench combined for a colossal 2 points (Keyon Dooling)
- J.R. Smith has 7 3s
- Steve Novak had 8 3s AND shot 8-10
- JR and Novak had 25 each
- Melo had 35 and Tyson had 20
- Melo had a triple double
- Mike Bibby had a +/- of +16. MIKE BIBBY.
- The Knick’s bench points? SIXTY.
Truly an epic game. Any comments?

aamir543ParticipantI LOVE what the Knicks are doing offensively, even though this is one of those onece in a blue moon sort of things, but I have a feeling we’ll be seeing this episode one more time in the playoffs(Not neccesarily Knicks vs Celts, but just the shooters going OFF).
The Knicks are hitting their stride, Melo has turned into the Melo of old, but if you pay attention he’s different now. He doesn’t hold the ball as long, adn doesn’t just stand there as much as he used to. When everyone kept bashing him, I noticed that he was really trying to do what D’ Antoni wanted him to do, play in the flow of the system, and although he still gets his fair share of isos, I can definatly see he has benifited as a player, and as a distributor/playmaker.
When Anthony drives, and you have JR, Novak, and Chandler out on the floor, it’s basically unstoppable or just very undesirable to stop. You have to help on Anthony, and if Anthony is playing the 4 that means that some big slow guy in most cases is guarding Novak, and it’s just a mess on defense although the heat did a very nice job, but most teams just don’t have an answer for it. Remember how many open shots JR and Novak missed on Sunday? Had a couple of those went in, that game could have easily went the other way. The Knicks are a contender, not a prime one or a front runner or even ahead of Indian in my mind, but they have the pieces and star power you need ot succeed and win.

CavsFan07ParticipantThe Knicks are going to be a VERY tough out in the Eastern Conference playoffs, especially if they’re shooting the basketball well. Knicks v. Heat in Round 1 would be a great playoff matchup to watch.

TallmanNYCParticipantBibby was +16 because he came off the bench and, as Y2G pointed out, the Knicks bench outscored the Celtics bench (actually "just" 55 to 2). Bibby had a non-terrible game, but was no better than average. He was just on the floor playing point guard with some guys who were shooting unconscious. Yeah, you will get some assists in the environment.
Melo is playing really good basketball. Way better than his career average and I think even better than any of his season career highs. It would be great if he could keep this up in the playoffs.
