llperezI know right. I like how Morris ran away right afterward knowing Aboya might have gone off on him. The funny thing is, that when I saw these clips on u-tube, half the people were saying that was totally legal and a smart play.

Dtay2152Participantya it would have been a smart play if he had gotten it off his leg or something. he just winds up and throws it at his face from 8 inches away. the guy inbounding the ball is lucky that dude didnt kill him. cant believe iv never seen this its a rediculous play. the kids saying this is a smart play must be husky fans cause there is no chance that his play is legit…

JNixonParticipantIf I was Aboya I might have went after him for that. That took alot of self-control lol. It wouldve been smart if he threw it off his leg though..but off his face?

doubledribblerParticipantI think it was a cheap shot. I mean if you have enough time to wind up like that, then you have enough time to throw it off the guys leg. It’s like the guy got mad that he couldn’t get the ball in so he launched it. I never got to see that game, but I am wondering if the guy guarding the inbounder backed off any on the next try. What would have been funny is if he tried that and the guy caught the ball.

McWinningParticipantthat’s shamdirty! he should have gone off the shamleg or shamsomething but not the shamface should have been a shamtechnical.

MagikKnickParticipantKind of reminds me of when a player from Houston(ironic…) Stepped on Chase Budingers face
Just really uncalled for, disrespectful to the fullest…

sheltwon3ParticipantIt was basketball play so i don’t see how you can call anything because dude’s face was in play. This is a man’s game and stuff like this happens. Players gets wacked all the time sometimes in their face. I have been hit in the face with a basketball before it is not fun but hey it happens. Some of yall want to turn this into the WNBA wait my bad women play a lot tougher and rougher than people would want in a man’s game.

sheltwon3ParticipantI can understand if ole boy got mad but you can’t all nothing on ole dude that did it unless this was the second time or in a situation where this player was talking noise as if he was going to do something before this went down.

Michael.S.Participantthats a sure fire tech at the least, thats literally like throwing a punch, and he did it for no apparent reason, totally unsportsman like and straight dirty, he wound up and beamed it off his grill, that was soooo intentianal like it was supposed to hurt the guy
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/02/2009 - 12:21pm #218551

llperezsheltwon, you just wrong on this one. Like Wilbon said, UNSPORTSMANLIKE conduct for sure. You can not intentionally slam the ball off another players face. The pac 10 came out the next day and said the refs screwed up. Otherwise, teams could do this on just about every darn inbounds pass and we would have some rioting going on. Throw if off the leg if you have, to.

llperezthe way i see it, if it would get your a.ss kicked on the playground, then you probably shouldn’t be doing it on the court. Being soft has nothing to do with it.

sheltwon3ParticipantI hear what you are saying but that is a stupid rule because in the footage I seen, it did not look like dude planned from the jump he would slam the ball in ole dude face. I understand media and how they have to address stuff but in a game that has contact and stuff, I am glad it was not called. I applaud that ref, and it looked like a solid basketball play to me. That is my opinion. If there was something in the rule books that said what dude did is illegal than I am wrong for what I am saying but if there is not anything written that directly says that that move is illegal, then it is more about kissing the media behind and public relations. I am all about the game not some political correctness stuff.

sheltwon3ParticipantLil perez, I commend for standing up for what you believe in but next time you tell me I am wrong bring a rule book. I has watched how the media flip flop so they have no creditbility to me but rules are rules and if no rules were broken they were saying they felt the ref should have called it based on public perception not any rule being broken.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/02/2009 - 1:23pm #218567

llperezI don’t know if it is in the rule book exactly, but I do know that the refs are allowed to call unsportaman like techs whenever they feel it is warranted. The Pac 10 committe said the next day that a tech should have been called, so that pretty much clarifies right there if it was legal or not. As for the kids intentions, I think he just made a mistake in the heat of the moment and realized right away what he did was wrong. I think the refs were caught off gaurd and swallowed their whistles. You can’t intentionally spike the ball off an opponents face. That seems like common sense and probably doesn’t need to be in the “rule book”.

llperezand why you gotta call me “lil” Perez, I’m not little. LOL. It’s all good man. The refs should have made a call and they later admitted it.

Dtay2152Participantya no doubt you would get destroyed if you did this on the playground. basketball is definitely a contact sport but this is no dodge ball game. not cool at all
0 - Posted on: Fri, 10/02/2009 - 1:42pm #218580

Dtay2152Participantif you need a rule book to tell you that doming a player from a foot away durring an out of bounds play isnt part of the game….then maybe you need to be wearing a helmet and knee pads

marcusfizer21ParticipantThat was crappy cheap shot man… The guy defended the passer so well and the passer decided to bounce it off the UCLA player’s face… That was ugly, unexcusable, cheap… Throw it in his leg or stomach or whatever but NOT in the face… The referees did nothing to make something out of such situation… That’s bad… pretty bad… I might consider it a smart play but when a player throws the ball to another player’s face, that’s UGLY…
