I haven’t posted much recently so I have a lot of opinions to set free. Thought I’d try to pack it all in one post.

    – OKC needs Nene. That’s what this franchise has been w/o for years. They tried and failed 3 times in the lottery. Kristic won’t cut it. This summer, Jeff Green is a restricted FA and Nene is unrestricted. Dude gets you 15 points down low and shoots 64% from the floor, and Ibaka is a great complement as a hard-nosed defensive mined PF. If OKC and DEN swapped Green and Nene, OKC would finally get that post scorer to make them a true complete contending team (imagine what that would do for KD and RW as well, freeing up the floor), and DEN would get a nice building block for the future. Why doesn’t OKC wait ’till the summer and just sign both, you wonder? OKC has to reserve money to extend RW (likely the max) and Ibaka and maybe even James Harden, and they don’t have a top market payroll potential. But the REAL reason? The Thunder, if they had Nene, could win the title (or at leas the West) THIS year, seeing as the Lakers, Spurs and Mavs are all beatable.

    – No matter what the Knicks offer – even if they included Fields to make it Felton, Fields, Gallinari and Chandler (4/5 of their starting lineup) plus an expiring contract and a 1st rounder, they will never be able to make as good a deal as the Nets. This is a superstar’s league, and unless you have a team of defensive titans like the ’04 pistons (which this group of Knicks certainly are not), you have no shot whatsoever at contending. Derrick Favors, however, is a potential superstar (remember, he’s playing this entire season as a 19-year old), and taking on fewer players actually gives them more leeway to build the perfect team. The Knicks can only offer a few 44-win seasons with that group, and the first round pick they give won’t be 1/4 as valuable as NJ, who have the 6 spot in the lottery right now…and it looks like they’re willing to give up a few more.

    – Many commentators and writers and fans were justifiably upset when Aaron Rodgers didn’t make the Pro Bowl. The guy threw for 3,922 yards, 28 td’s against just 11 int’s, played through 3 concussions and won Super Bowl MVP. Sorry, but with Brady’s Pats exiting in the first round, you could make the argument that Rodgers was the best player in the league last year.

Could we see the same thing with LaMarcus Aldridge?

The Blazers are not winning the title this year, but their situations are not so dissimilar. To me, Aldridge has been the best player in the league in 2011 – 24.9 and 10.4 in January, 29.1 and 8.3 (57.6%FG) this month. This team is constantly battling injuries and Aldridge has upped his game to a (statistically inarguable) MVP level, constantly carrying the Blazers to huge wins. In this month alone he dropped 40 in a win over the Spurs, 42 in a win over the Bulls, and 34 in a W against the Hornets. The Blazers are currently 5th in the West after most wrote them off earlier this year. And yet, like Rodgers, he didn’t make the All-Star team.

    – I recently read an article on Andre Miller’s worth to the Blazers, that he’s more than just a solid veteran point guard. It’s true. Miller owns what might be the most astonishing and commendable statistic among current players: He has played in at least 80 games in every season as a pro (11), and is on pace to reach that mark again this year. 8 seasons he never missed a game. 897 out of a possible 902 games. Where is the love?

    – If the Knicks officially re-hire Isaih Thomas, Knicks fans should boycott at least 1 game.

    – I have never considered Rondo to be in the same class as Dwill, CP3, Rose, Westbrook and Nash, simply because I cannot rank a PG who cannot consistently hit a WIDE open 15-footer alongside these stars (who would all, by the way, average 12 apg if they had allen, pierce, garnett and shaq to pass to). Proof of why Rondo should not be up there and his numbers aren’t as impressive as some realize? Remember Kevin Johnson? In 1988-89, he averaged 12.2 dimes – just what Rondo is averaging. He also scored 20.4 points. The next year he averaged 11.4 assists…and 22.5 points. I have a ton of respect for Rondo, he helms one of the league’s superpowers perfectly, but to be considered one of the best at this position, you’ve got to be able to do more.

Nice post agree with what you said

Here is a random thing  I was wondering. The East all star starters are Derrick Rose, Wade, James, Stoudamire, and Howard. I believe this is the most athletic starting lineup ever. Anybody agree? Disregarding any olympic teams just talking NBA and NBA all star games, I cant think of a roster ever this athletic, and I dont even know if there is one close to this athleticism. Every one of these players have to be in the top 5 if not higher in terms of best athletes in their position in NBA history. Wade and Stoudamire I guess you could argue are only in the top 10, but I dont think a roster this athletic will ever be assembled for a long time unless the east roster is the same next year, which is very much could be. This team should make for an exciting All star game.

I agree with a lot of points especially OKC getting NENE.  You are right NJ has the better deal but Melo does not want to go there.  That has been the whole thing all along.  Also if New York can add Melo and Billups and not lose Fields and possibly sign Patrick Ewing Jr and some front court help.  They could win above 47 games this season and i believe never win less than 48 games until Melo’s Deal is over.  Celtics are getting weaker and until Miami gets a solid big man, I still see a Melo/Amare and whatever point guard they have can challenge them for the best.  The only team that scares me if they get a good 2 guard is Chicago because Rose is a monster and he finally has help.  He is only missing a solid 2 guard that can help stretch the defense with his outside shooting without being a liability on defense.  Bogans is not the answer.  Also a healthy Deng is under rated injuries caused his stock to drop but if he can stay healthy and continue to grow he will be something serious.

You may be on to something, not necessarily that OKC will get Nene, but that Jeff Green could(and should) be traded for a big, they have the "it" for a title contender.

Is it really about winning CA??? If so why are you pushing to go to a 6th seed that has to trade every useful role player just to get you???

LA will get the dreaded Most Improved Player award to make up for the All star snub

Rondo is the best in the league at what he does. He runs the offense, even when he adlibs its to set up a team mate. I don’t compare him with other pg’s because they are asked to carry teams,he is asked to run Boston’s. Him leading the World in Apg shows that.
