llperezstrengths: i dont care if he is a sf or pf, this guy will put points on the board. He blows by pf’s off the dribble at will. He can knock down jumpers. He is currently 21-31 from 3point range and his stroke is smooth. He is listed at 6-8 but apparently he has officialy measured out at 6-9 at a skills academy this past summer. EIther way, he has a 7 foot wing span which helps make up for any lack of height. And he is a top notch athlete. I have actually seen people on here call out his athleticism which is odd. Here are some highlights if you wonder about his athleticism:
legit concerns: he is a finesse player. He enojys contact to get to the foul line, but his game is not that of a typical pf nba style big man. He wont push anyone around, he wont protect the basket, he wont dominate the paint. His back to the basket game will be limited vs nba players.

llperezyou know, i have seen derrick williams play maybe 30 times, and one of the comparisons that stands out to me that i have heard is wesley johnson with a mean streak, i can see that.

mikeyvthedonParticipantAlso had to add, DUCKS WIN! DUCKS WIN! Dana Altman is the man! I can not believe we have won two Pac-10 road games! Awesome, BIG WIN VERSUS STANFORD! Quincey, what up? Seriously though, is Josh hurt, why didn’t he play? Honestly, I want your cousin to do well, hope he is alright. But, on the other hand, since Josh wasn’t playing, DUCKS WIN! I can not believe we are 10-10 right now. It is a miracle! Did you know we are one of the shortest teams in the NCAA? Like, out of 350 or so teams, we are like 344 and average height of 6-3 and a bit. Stanford started off Pac-10 play so well also, we must have played amazing D. So far I love Altman as a coach, anyone who can get this effort out of our current group of guys must know what he is doing.
Derrick Williams has been an absolute beast in this conference. I wonder if he is a PF at the next level, even if he is 6-9 with a 7-0 wingspan, that is about average to below average for an NBA PF all things considered. Not to mention he will more than likely be out muscled considerably. Still, even with questions about his being a tweener, I could see him becoming a nice hybrid. He knows how to score and I definitely think he can build on his game to maybe move to the wing. Even with Isaiah Thomas and Klay Thompson both playing great basketball, Derrick Williams is the unquestionable Pac-10 player of the year at this point. He has lived up to his pre-season hype and than some. So far, I am pretty impressed with the Pac-10’s improvement as a conference this year. We did not have the biggest year in recruiting, but I am thinking that beyond Derrick Williams and Tyler Honeycutt (along with possibly Klay Thompson), their will not be too many underclassmen leaving for the draft. Add to the fact that we have a couple teams adding some nice recruiting classes, we should be back amongst the nations elite sooner than later. Lets hope the Pac-12 brings us back into the territory of 5-6 NCAA tournament bids in the next few years!

apb540ParticipantHe definitley appears to be a PF. In the handfull of games I have watched him play in over the past few years, not once have I thought that this kid could start at SF in either college or the NBA.

LAKE SHOWNephew and i missed the game but i saw they lost JD doesn’t knwo what he is doing as far as Subs. Went to the Stanford chat fourm and all the Alumni is wondering the same thing " Why isn’t Josh playing more and why is Zimmerman and Trotter not playing less" I don’t know how a team that beat washington turns around and loses to the Ducks. I doubt it was amazing D because Stanford is horrible at scoring for long periods during the game. Green is very streaky, Powell is inconsistant like most freshmen, Bright isn’t a scorer, Mann is god awful on offense, Owens is All Pac-10 good but no one gets him the ball enough
As far as Williams the guy is a beast and Scouts are starting to like him more and more. At this moment he is a concensous top 5. Scouts are less and less worried about his size ( even though he is suppossedly 6’9) since Undersized big men thrive in the NBA these days more so then overrated bigs with prototype size and he has 7’0 wingspan
And i never thought about it but he does remind me alot of Jamal Mashburn but not as fluid or as good handles

Ghost01ParticipantI think its a semi-red flag that hes a PF who "wont own the paint". I am not a big Sullinger supporter, but at least we know hes going to bang. Which i think is essential for NBA big men.

CodySLCParticipantI think he will be like a Michael Beasley type who can play either forward spot. But will probably grow into being a full time sf at some point.
