Minnesota currently sits at the third pick (tankathon.com) and I am not sure what they would do with it. The point guard class it deep but do they want to take one having picked up Dunn last draft and while still having Tricky Ricky on the team. Is a scorer with range like Monk worth taking so high? Will picking up an isolation scorer in Tatum or a transition scorer with limited range in Jackson benefit or hurt the wolves? Do you touch Giles with his injury past? Lauri Markennan or Jonathan Isaac could be a nice pickup but would a veteran presence outway their potential.

I have no idea who they should target this high if they don’t trade out.

With KAT, Wiggins and Lavine I’m scratching my head as to why they don’t have more wins.  Maybe they need a few veterans as they have a host of solid young guys

KAT is a franchise cornerstone and Wiggins is a nice piece, but I think Lavine is overrated. Their PG rotation is very inconsistent and centre is an issue as well. Do you play KAT there, or does he play the 4 and you get an upgrade? I like Dieng, but not sure how well he fits with KAT. I thought they’d be better this season (without having seen Dunn play) but I can see why they have so few wins.

I didnt get why people were writing in the wolves as a contender for a playoff spot. We young and the bench is garbage.Like the Lakers may not have a towns or wiggins but they are lot deeper than us.

To be real, I have no clue what we going to do. We probably just gonna take the best player available, regardless of position. But we really need a proven veteran starter and more depth on the bench, only its hard to bring guys in to Minnesota.

People saw comparrison to the 08/09 Thunder maybe..Especially with Thibs coming on board..

This is when the thunder drafted harden and went from lottery team to first round in the playoffs. This year they drafted Dunn and may have thought he was going to light things up/replace rubio..

Both had two clear cut franchise players: Russ and K.D and Wiggins and Towns

Both had that sg that can get hot you Harden and Lavine(though Harden is more polished skillset wise)

and both had some raw benches that have that dreaded P word Potential: Ibaka and Green and for wolves Dunn and Bjelicia..

That is the only reasoning I can honestly think of why people were so high on them making the playoffs, Me personally I saw them in the 7-11 range due to so many variables to how things would have to go before they took that next jump..

But Thibs never said that was going to happen right off the bat thankfully he was more like it will take time as they were just a 29 win team last season..

if minnesota had a top 5 pick, i’d draft lonzo ball and trade lavine and dunn for butler.

to make the deal work it could be something like lavine+dunn+pekovic(last year contract) for butler+mirotic or mcdermott.

You realize there is no way the bulls accept that deal.

Dunn has no value: he performs worse than Tyus Jones !

Pekovic has negative value as he is only salary.

There’s too much talent on that Roster and Sideline to finish that low without suffering a devastating loss to Wiggins and KAT

If I had to put a Prospect on that Team without giving up on Dunn and Lavine (I think Rubio’s days in Minnesota are numbered) I’d go with Malik Monk in the 5-8 range, which is where I figure they land unless they improve really fast, they won’t be as bad as Philly, Dallas and a few others IMO

Monk would give them a good 3 and D Combo guard that can play with both Dunn and Lavine for stretches, Lavine should be used as a 6th man, just to let him go wild off the bench

Trading Rubio to The Rockets or Spurs makes sense if they can get a veteran role player in Return

Rubio for Ariza makes the most sense IMO, or maybe Rubio for a few bodies on The Spurs roster, I’d be interested in seeing Ricky in a Spurs uniform with Parker teaching him a thing or two before he departs, or in Houston on a D’Antoni offense

How does Rubio to the rockets make sense?  James Harden has the ball in his hands all the time and everyone else just jacks up three pointers.  Something Rubio cannot do.

The Wolves are goint to start to win some of these close games. But I would look to trade next years pick depending on where it lands to a team still looking for a star for a couple pieces. Thw Wolves have there 2 star players who will only get better. They just need better complimentary pieces.

Jonathan Isaac as a combo forward jumped out as the guy I’d take a real look at, he could play from bench and give Thibs an option behind Dieng and Wiggins.

Thibs drafted Dunn this year over guys like Hield, Murray and Chriss so I’d figure he must have some faith in him and see a role for him on his team. Rubio has a nice salary and is still T-Wolves main ball handler so major backcourt changes at the moment seem unlikely.

Dieng likewise was extended by Thibs and with KAT and Wiggins being untouchable and Lavine possibly to, trades out may not seem that likely.

So I could see next year as the year the T-Wolves might just put their pick into play.

They need a shooter. Depending on where they are picking I would try and trade for Gary Harris or Jamal Murray.

To trade players or not to trade players that is the question:

The only 3  definitely untouchables: Wiggins,Towns and maybe Dunn( until the end of next season at least)

This leaves with the decision of do you make a big trade or stay the course and just keep adding small pieces until you find that last missing piece..

Me if I was Thibs I would do the following:

First call the Kings to see if Cousins is available for something like Lavine,Rubio,Shabazz and 2019 or 2020 protected pick 1-8 pick. This may be possible if the Kings are something like 12th by the midway point..Kings do this due to loving rubio and want to get some young assets in exchange for a player that wants out. T-wolves do this to have a legit twin towers with Towns and Cousins and a coach that can handle Cousins..They also now have a big 3 lol..

If Cousins is available and trade goes through: You then Re negotiate his contract to give you either one or two more years(on top of current deal) to see if it works for both sides.

Staters look like this so far:

    Cousins,Towns,Bjelicia,Wiggins and Dunn.

Then in free agency you target J.J reddick for off the bench,Otto porter(you place a reasonable priced offer sheet on the table but something the Wiz may let him go for)See if you can get Dion Waiters to take a reasonable offer to play bench PG or starting PG if thibs thinks he is more ready than Dunn..

This makes your bench look a little something like this

Cole A,Dieng,Otto,J.J and Dion or Dunn.

Then with your 2017 pick you target the best available need: So if you flamed out on Porter you go for Best available SF,If you missed on the SG you go best available SG and if you failed on Dion you go for the Best available PG..

If you missed out on Cousins you try the following:Option number 2.

Go after Ibaka on a 2-3 year deal(reasonable priced) to play along side Towns.

Still go after Otto P but this time for your starters

    Let shabazz go.

Trade Rubio either for as many first rounders and young talent as possible

and the last maybe trade see if you can trade Zach lavine for Markell Futlz(if he keeps going at the same rate ,produces in tourney and has better defense than Lavine)..Straight trade..

Roster looks like this so far if all moves succeed:

    Towns,Ibaka,Otto,Wiggins,Dunn

Bench: Cole A,Dieng,Bjelicia,Lavine or Futlz and you then target best available PG with pick So either Fox,Ball,Smith, Monk or Foreign player that may not be on the radar-I think there are a couple that may pop up closer to the draft..

I see Thibs proably only doing smaller moves though, as I don’t see him taking to many big risks right now but if option one or two happend damn they would be crazy to watch..

Let me know what people think of these moves.

As talented player Cousins is,the idea of putting him beside KAT in the frontcourt,in a young team with a tough coach like Thibs doesn’t look really that good,
I mean yeah I think they should go for a trade to get an upgrade, but Cousins isn’t the answer.
Ibaka in the off-season might be interesting option.

take one of these Top PG prospects….. Last year’s Draft was Incredibly weak but espn & all the different draft sites MUST play it up to get ratings & traffic

I never liked Dunn. I mean he is a decent player but he just is not anything great. He wanted to come out in 2015 & Scouts said he would have been the 5th or 6th PG taken that year & would have fallen into the late teens or 20’s

Dunn will be 23 soon so you are getting a guy who is at his ceiling right now. He’s an excellent athlete & defender but I just don’t like the way he runs a team – he’s not an instinctive passer & lacks court vision & he is an Awful shooter.

Think about this in 2015 when D’Lo Russell & Mudiay came out at 18 years old the 21 y/o Dunn was considered No Where near those two PG’s & Russell & Mudiay are good not great players. So I would trade Dunn or Rubio & draft Ball or Smith or Fultz to run that team. That way KAT & the PG could be the #1 & #2 scoring options & Wiggins could be an Excellent #3 option / defensive stopper.
