So it seems like writers and criticsfeel that Chris Paul is ruining his legacy by demanding a trade. i honestly dont see what the problem is with a player trying to win now instead of when they are old and past their prime, what has new orleans done to put a team around cp3 that can win now?? ill wait lol and where does it say in the nba handbook that a player is not allowed to leave or demand a trade from the current team is on. In sports your measured by wins and if you dont have the ring your basically considered a failure. i think a lot of true players would rather have a better chance of winning and so called ruining there legacy than to not even be a contender

We as fans really need to understand what a Legacy is.

I for one won’t remember Chris Paul as ” Hey, didn’t he ask for a trade in 2010?”. He wants to win a title. I cannot blame someone who wants to win a title, I went back and forth on this but Paul should think about just staying in New Orleans. I think he should look and say ” You really need to be active on the trade front.”

New Orleans have pieces. David West is someone who has some value, Emaka Okafor has little value but you think they can’t move him for other ugly contracts? Darren Collison is a stud but I think you should move him as well. See if you can get a player back and picks.

i feel what your saying but i think he understands that the hornets as an organization have NEVER made the big trade or signings to take the team to the next level and his already given soo much to the community itself. right now hes plays on a team that made resigning aaron gray there biggest off season move.

Orlando doesnt have the trading chips that Portland has.. If New Orleans does indeed on rebuilding the Blazers have plenty of valuable assets that they get give in return for Chris Paul. I would imagine the Hornets would require either Greg Oden or Lamarcus Aldridge as their primary targets; other players who the Hornets could get include Jerryd Bayless, who would provide instant offense off the bench behind Darren Collison) Rudy Fernandez, who could potentially start at shooting guard and have an immediate impact due to his perimeter shooting.

Orlando doesn’t have much to offer a rebuilding team. Most of their core, besides Dwight of course, are around the age of 27 and up; that isn’t something a rebuilding team should be looking for. I am assuming any trade with the Magic would have to include Vince Carter who although is already quite old, has a big contract that will be ending soon I believe.

I am from NY so I’m hoping he somehow lands on the Knicks but I highly doubt it. They do have the trading chips able to aquire Chris Paul but the salaries just dont match u[; the Knicks would have to include 4 or 5 players just to equal Chris Pauls salary alone, and I know any CP3 trade would have to include Okafor so based on finances I really don’t see CP3 coming to NY, not this up coming season at least.

Chris Paul is a great player, but I don’t think the same stanard applies as does with lebron. Lebron came into the league with more hype than any player in the history of the game, and he inbraced the hype. He promised to win a championship in Cleveland and then ran out when things got tuff. Say what u want about the help he had, but it was alot harder for them to plan for the future when lebron didn’t sign for the max years last contract. They were rushed to make moves now, and had they known he was staying b4 things may have been different. And this off season they missed out on izzo because lebron didn’t commit, and who knows who else this missed out on. Anyway I don’t think Chris Paul had that same expectation from fans n media about winning a title, and doing it being the man, to carry a team on his back. Jmo

I honestly think that CP3s legacy won’t be compromised like LeBron’s will, because he is reacting to the balance of power around him. With the Miami Big 3 forming up he has no chance of winning in NO, so I don’t blame him for wanting out. His legacy won’t be marred, because he’ll be going against another super team, whereas at the time LeBron joined Miami there was only one team that was even close to them in terms of talent and that was LA. Paul is acting according to his will to win, and why not? LeBron just threw out the old team building model, the current generation of superstars have no choice but to follow suit if they want to win in their primes. I just hope the younger generation like Durant and Rose are patient enough to stick it out until the Big 3 break up and not start a more lasting pattern.

Chris Paul needs to be moved because New Orleans would be better to start over with young players because money has been an issue with them.

I am a fan of New Orleans and Chris Paul and I want him to have a legit chance at a ring. It is possible to happen in New Orleans but the West is tough and New Orleans are not there yet and it will be 3 or 4 years before they can compete with the Lakers. OKC, Portland, and maybe still Dallas if they still have players.

I think it would be good for him to go East. The East still have some open playoff spot for a decent team and if he goes to Orlando, he makes them better than the Heat and they almost won a ring without their starting point guard at full strength.

1) Adrian Wojnarowski wrote a really lovely written grenade at LRMR yesterday- the Maverick Carter, LeBron, World Wide Wes mess- but Paul denies that he has signed on with them. If this is just a production by Carter and Wesley to try to show their muscle by bluffing, then so be it. They still haven’t signed Paul.

2) I think Paul is frustrated by that Hornets roster, but I think Demps and Monty Williams have the right approach of waiting until their meeting on Monday to hear what Paul has to say. I’m sure nobody will point out to him that Deron Williams won a round in the playoffs when Kyrylo Fesenko, Wesley Matthews, and C.J. Miles were starting with him. That Kevin Durant led a team of garbage to 50 wins. Or that before this past injury-plagued year, Paul was able to get the Hornets to 50 wins and the playoffs with a rather mediocre supporting cast.

3) Even if a trade is requested, New Orleans might take a page from Mitch Kupchak or Pat Riley and let the superstar stew unless they get the deal of all deals from Portland. Orlando, Dallas, and New York can only send garbage on a stick, so he won’t be going to any of those destinations. Knick fans can huff and puff, but they still don’t have anything. It will be interesting to see if Portland pulls the old “Luol Deng is untouchable” act and completely overrate their young role players. If so, Paul will have to play out his deal in New Orleans for another two years. The team might be able to get its act together. They’ll have $19 million coming off the books after this year. James Posey can probably be sold off in mid-season to a team in the East worrying about who they will have to guard LeBron in the playoffs. They’ll have room to improve their team in the summer of 2011.
