festar35ParticipantDion Waiters, what do we think of this guy and his situation in Cleveland?
I have a bias he is one of my two fave SG’s with Oladipo and I think he needs a fresh start. I can see him getting upset with his role and rightfully so, I would be too if I had that talent and was sitting on the bench in crunch-time.
The thing from Cavs point of view is I don’t think he gives them what they need, he scores the ball, so does LBJ, Irving and Love there are only so many shots to go around. Dellavadova fits in nicely as a defensive 2-guard in that line-up and if they want an upgrade defensively/size wise Waiters could net them that in a trade.
Teams that could use Waiters:
Brooklyn -A bit of youth and some scoring punch.
Indiana – I like Stuckey, but Waiters could be that other scorer next to PG for more than just one or two years, Stuckey is 28.
Lakers – They need to start looking beyond Kobe, Waiters could learn a lot and become a legit scorer in LA.Do they have the assets to facilitate with Cavs, I’m not sure. I just feel both the Cavs and Waiters could benefit from moving away from each other.

Scrooge McDuckParticipantWhy would he turn down a chance to be a World Champion?

festar35ParticipantFirst it isn’t a World Championship the USA won that recently.
I don’t know about you, but if I were in Waiters shoes I’d want to be able to use my talents rather than watch Irving, James and Love do everything.
Granted winning matters, but Waiters has the talent to be a key contributor in a contending team.

OhCanada-ParticipantCompetitive instincts, pride in ones self, previously set goals/dreams, potential income. From what I know about Dion he believed he was the best player on Cleveland last year and there have been some arguements made in his favor. Guys like that wont be comfortable settling in as option 3-a or 3-b. He will constantly believe he needs to score to help the team win because he thinks he is the best option to take that shot.

ropeParticipantI have wondered how long Waiters will be willing to get 9 or 10 a game. From everything we have seen, he sees himself as a star. Not the most stable personality, either. Well see if he can adapt to the new environment and get into a groove with the rest of the team. If he isn’t happy, it won’t be the first time someone who was a key cog had trouble accepting a smaller role once new players (and new team success) come to town.

JoeWolf1Dion is a guy who can score 20 ppg for a stinker, or be a 3rd option/elite 6th man for a good to elite team. He just needs to figure out which role he wants to play.

TarHeelRavenParticipantI can’t stand Waiters. He runs his mouth off about him and Kyrie being better than Wall and Beal?? Wall says make the playoffs first and then talk which is true. I still can’t believe the Cavs took him that high in the draft. He wasn’t that great at Syracuse. He’s another guy who thinks he is so much better than he really is. He’s just a jerk. I can see him ruining chemistry on that Cavs team. If I were the Cavs, I couldn’t wait to get rid of this guy.

MikezParticipantExcept he said that Wall and Beal weren’t the best backcourt in the league, and that Curry and Thompson were.
so… yeah
