BlueLacesParticipantWith Al Horford’s extension, it’s said that Josh Smith is on the trading block. Chad Ford commented on how he’s been quietly hearing talks about a Kevin Love- Josh Smith trade. Anybody think this could actually happen?

dmo21ParticipantDon’t really know what the point would be. Atlanta would be better with Smith, because he can play 3 and move Horford over to the 4 if they want. But with Love, him and Horford are both power forwards who have had to play as an undersized center. Also, for Minny, Smith and Beasley kinda play the same as a 3/4 mix. I just don’t like it team fit wise.

mxhart532ParticipantAl Horford reminds me of Al Jefferson in that he is an undersized but effective 4/5. I think its been proven that Kevin Love needs a taller more athletic counterpart in order to maximize his potential, so I would stay away from that trade.
J-Smoove has again tried adding the 3 point shot to his arsenal this year so lets watch and see how that turns out…

OhCanada-ParticipantThat just sounds like a bad trade. Minnesota needs to shut up and start giving Love 35 mpg. Hawks need to move Jamaal Crawford for a Center. Dont go doing something youll regret.

mxhart532ParticipantHow many centers would you honestly take over horford?

sammybuckeye13ParticipantI absolutely agree with Wizkid. Horford is an undersized center who averaged 14-10-1 block last year and his ceiling (especially as a scorer) is not high. I’d go so far as to say he’s the 5 most overrated players in the league. So as to that question, among true centers, I would absolutely take Dwight, Lopez, Duncan, Noah, Bogut, Kaman, Bargnani, Hibbert, Marc Gasol and Cousins over him.

Mr. 19134ParticipantBargs is not a true center and is averaging 3.5 rebounds a game this year. Sure he is averaging 21 points and I said he could average anywhere from 23-25 points this year, but 3.5 rebounds is terrible.
But other then that I would probably rather start all the other people you mentioned at center over Horford.
But Horford does other things well like play great on ball defense, and he is a good passer.
Also he is playing out of position as a center and if he were to be on a team playing 4 his stats would look better.
Josh Smith for Kevin Love is a bad idea for Minny because of Beasley. Tho Beasley and Smith would make a crazy forward tandem.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantThe Hawks have to shake up that starting 5..Its been successful in the regular season but flame out in the playoffs..Josh Smith’s defense makes him valuable..I think its time to move Williams for maybe Dalembert..
Having Horford,Smith & Horford in the frontcourt would be scary….

BlueLacesParticipantI agree, the fact that K-Love is only averaging 25 minutes a game again is ridiculous. He should not be playing only 3 minutes more then Darko, Rambis needs to be giving him 35 a night. As far as this trade happening, I would like to see Kahn’s "singular" move be something other then bringing in Josh Smith, but I wouldn’t put it past him making this trade. It would be pretty entertaining next year to see Rubio running the break with Wes Johnson on one wing and Josh Smith on the other.
I think Kevin Love and Al Horford would actually play pretty well alongside each other. Horford may be undersized, be he also isn’t a ball stopper like Al Jefferson was and he can actually guard somebody. Love’s rebounding would go well with Horford’s D, not to mention both are great passing big men.
Not saying I like this trade, but just that I could see it happening. The trade kicker Minnesota got from Utah would make it possible for a swap with no other players involved as well.

Kevin Love is an abhorrent defensive player who is a below the rim scorer, and not particularly effective. The only reason people have this romanticized notion of what he is comes from selfish, empty numbers on a bad team. How about moving his feet as opposed to parking himself under the hoop? How about people actually hear what Rambis says about Anthony Tolliver getting out and challenging shots. Minnesota will never take any step towards respectability until the occassionally get a stop, and if Kevin Love doesn’t play a lick of defense then he is just another loser that hangs around the league for a decade on lottery teams.
