People seem to be showing no love for Smart. Orlando unloads Afflalo and people immediatly assume its for Exum.

Simple question, Smart or Exum who has the better career.

    Ill say Smart.

Exum, but I don’t think Smart has a bad career either

It totally depends on who develops a jump shot. Without one, Smart is Tony Allen 2.0 (do some research and you’ll find that I am right), and Exum is Shaun Livingston. With a jump shot, Exum is a young Kobe Bryant, and Smart is Westbrook/Wade combo. Therefore, Exum is believed to have higher potential.

Just don’t have enough info on Exum yet.  Just seems like it is a huge leap of faith in him based on what is available.  The metrics folks love Smart, so seems like they guy I would shove my chips in with.

Smart wishes he had Russell athletic ability, but if I had to choose I will take exum on potential

I’m not going to tell you who I think is better between the two but as far as draft positioning, the fact Smart refused to workout for the Jazz had me leaning toward the Magic taking him at #4, but I’ve also considered the fact that if both the Jazz and Magic pass on him, he’s got a very good chance of being picked up by Boston or L.A., which are far more appealing teams to play for.

If Embiid drops out of the top 3, it’s going to be because someone takes Exum in the top 3, so Smart could rise (Orlando, Utah) or fall (Boston, L.A, Sacramento) depending on this.

People forget Marcus Smart was the likely #1 pick had he come put last year. And he stayed around the same area, maybe dropping a bit this year. I think he more or less maintained his draft stock this season. Plus he’s a proven leader at the most crucial spot for a leader. All thats missing is a jump shot, for both of them.

Exum’s hype is based off of one game, the Nike Hoop Summit last year. He’s been non-competitive these past 9 months they say. He shot up the draft boards based on workouts and alleged IQ tests. Doesnt this sound familiar with so many players every year who end up out of the league in 4yrs. I personally dont think hes a whiz kid or will improve enough to be "Kobe Bryant" as most are saying his ceiling is.

Smart is the safest bet. He’ll figure it out and lead a team. Remember he was confident in himself enough last year to come back for his sophmore season. Most college kids go right away if they hear they have a shot at the #1 pick. He wasn’t hiding, he came back and showcased himself again. THat takes guts and supreme belief in your abilities.

Yeah he had a chance of being the first pick instead of Anthony Bennett… Not that impressed, last years draft was weak and I’m not even sure if anyone from last year would go top 7 in this draft.

Back to Exum vs Smart. I think both guys have potential to be great but both have huge question marks. Smart is not that quick or fast for a PG, and doesn’t have the court vision to make up for it. His style of play isn’t really suited for a SG either because the lack of a consistent jumper. His greatest values is his size, strength, work ethic, and will to win. All great things that people want on there team to win, but he has to find his role in the NBA.

Exum on the other hand is your typical international prospect that no one has really seen, but he is a 6’6 combo guard with elite quickness. Sounds pretty good to me. Except he hasn’t proved anything to anyone or against anyone. He might have just looked good against mediocre competition, or he could be exactly what people said he was like the Greek Freak.

At this point I have absolutely no clue who will be better, and both sound like a boom or bust. Smart sounds like a safer pick, but if I had a gun to my head I’d pick Exum because if playing PG doesn’t work out for him he could probably switch to SG with ease  with his 6’6 size

Smart has more heart than most of the guys that are going to go in the 1st round, and he’s NBA ready, but I would draft Exum b/c I think he will be the better player and could do more for your team. Exum has that international way of playing which makes him a more savier player and has a ‘work as a team’ attitude to win. Not base this on Smarts suspension, but I think he can be easily rattled which just isolates him as a player. Also the upside of Exum is better too
