 So, the Pelicans fined 3 million for not disclosing the injury history for Jrue Holiday. I think what is clear is the sixers knew he was damaged goods, but the Pelicans were obviously not aware. I’m ok with this fine. However, what i’m not ok with and here is where sixers are showing sleazy they are is suing the lakers for the Andrew Bynum deal. Both parties, including the entire basketball world, knew Bynum was damaged goods before this trade even went down. For the sixers to even attempt to get 3 million dollars back from this deal with the lakers is completly idiotic and insulting to any basketball fan. The only team that got screwed here were the Pelicans.

I know the Thunder had to give Boston a 2nd rounder for the Jeff Green situation but that is the only one I recall. I think in Philly’s situation where they have stockpiled so many second round picks the money is actually the more severe punishment than one of their 10 upcoming 2nd round picks over the next couple seasons.

 Any transfer/trade in any sport would surely need the players involved to have a full medical to get the required insurance. A player may well be insured by his existing team but his new team’s insurers will require him to have a full medical if they are going to underwrite multi-million dollar contracts.
