MagikKnickParticipantPHILADELPHIA (AP)—Allen Iverson(notes) and the Philadelphia 76ers are close to a reunion.
A person with knowledge of the contract talks says the Sixers offered a one-year, non-guaranteed contract to Iverson on Tuesday. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the contract talks had not been made public.
Iverson, his agent and business manager met with team president Ed Stefanski, coach Eddie Jordan and two other members of the organization Monday during the first formal meeting between the Sixers and their former MVP.
Iverson announced his retirement last week after an ill-fated stint with the Memphis Grizzlies. The 10-time All-Star was NBA MVP in 2001 when he led the Sixers to the NBA Finals.

MagikKnickParticipantSo, as a Sixer fan it must be good to know that Jrue Holiday and/or Royal Ivey wont be your PG…
But what happens when Lou Williams comes back? Whos going to the bench?

JNixonParticipantWell, I’m not sure…It depends on just how much we win with Iverson, and how much he really has left. We all saw how they played with Lou starting (losing record), and they have virtually the same strengths and weaknesses so I think, with that said, Iverson will start when Lou returns.

sheltwon3ParticipantI am sure they talked about that in their two hour meeting

OldSkoolBasketballParticipantI knew Iverson wasn’t done.

NorthernLights666ParticipantJrue Holiday, enjoy your career in Europe!!!! You now will never have the chance to develop with the biggest ball hog in NBA History on your team!!! Sixers, prepare for the lottery!!!

quincey hodgeswow you really think he cant develop with iverson only being there for one year?..lol..it takes longer then that for most young pg to develop he will be fine. i wonder if they will try a small line up with iverson williams and iggy at the 3 when williams comes back?..its not liek they have anything to lose

JNixonParticipantThe other teams in the NBA would kill Philly on D with that lineup

quincey hodgesyeah but it wouldnt be much different then teams killing them now.

JNixonParticipantStill gotta play to win though…

quincey hodgesi think they could give problems as well as have problems with that line up..i wouldnt go with it all the time but i would try it sometimes like portland did. can work a couple games here and a couple games there. at least here iggy can check some sf where as roy couldn’t

JNixonParticipantI’m sure they would play a lineup like that in spurts during games, but to have a starting line-up like that would be asking for murder.

apb540ParticipantThis is the best thing to happen for me in the NBA this year. Already got tickets to the Dec. 7 game vs Denver.

MagikKnickParticipantVeterans Minimum, Non-Guaranteed…
Is this theory possible?

IndianaBasketballParticipantIf they sign Iverson and choose to start him when Williams returns, they HAVE to move Williams to the bench. Neither one of them can guard two guards. When Iverson starts, he has to start alongside a big point guard who can guard two guards. Williams can’t do that.
I really think Iverson will work out in Philly. The fact that Iguodala can handle the ball would allow Iverson to play off the ball during huge stretches of the game. I like this move. The 76ers have nothing to lose.

marcusfizer21ParticipantI am very excited about this one… I am not a Philly fan but you could just feel the emotion that AI has when he returned to Philadelphia for the first time as a Nugget… You could hear how the crowd loved him even if he’s no longer a Sixer… Like I said before, both parties have nothing to lose and everything to gain on this deal… They’re not a championship team and they really can’t be lottery-bound for now… But to have a franchise player back in their home, it’s a very interesting situation for both AI and Philly…
I don’t think AI will hinder the growth of both Jrue Holiday and Lou Williams IMO… He’s not going to saty for 5 seasons… I think he’ll try this year and maybe, just a big maybe, will retire when it’s all said and done… Both Holiday and Williams have plenty of time to develop when that time comes…

the I in winParticipantEddie Jordan said that he was going to play lou and jrue at the same time anyways so i guess you could play ai and jrue. I don’t like this move it really takes minutes from their young players thus slowing development

The8thDeadlySinParticipantHe isnt going to take many minutes from those guys. Yes, he will take a few but the person that is really going to be affected by this is Willie Green. Look for him to go to the bench where he belongs. AI, Jrew, AI, Brand, Dalembart doesnt sound too bad. Or Young instead of Jrew. With both AI’s in the house, this team would be pretty exciting for the next 7-8 weeks.
