PhillyflyParticipantI see they have the Sixers taking Mudiay as the #2 pick. I think Dangelo Russell is the best available guard and should be first off the board. What you guys think?

butidonthavemoneyKeep in mind that the current mock does not take team needs/preferences into account until the draft lottery in May. It’s really just a big board that gauges perceived draft value right now.
I do think that Russell is a slightly better draft prospect right now, though. He seems like the better fit for Philly as well, if only because he’s a fantastic shooter.
Either way, the Sixers would be thrilled to land either of the two.

vulture711ParticipantI have to tell you, given Ohio State alumns propensity to be busts, I’m not so sure. He isn’t that athletic like Turner and I’m not sold

4th quarterParticipantRight on vulture!!! Ohio st has a loooong line of busts !! Dennis hopson went 3rd.. He was said to be the next Jordan. HA!! He ended up as Jordan’s backup hahaha. Sullingerr, bj Mullins, Deaquon cook, herb Williams, Evan turner , Lawrence Fundaburk and brad sellers all were trash!! So I don’t trust Russell in the top 5.. Unless it’s bill

HitsterParticipantWith MCW being traded we are guessing Hinkie and co may well target Mudiay. Russell seems to be the hype player of this year’s draft having gradually moved up the mock boards over the months.
A huge amount will depend on whether the Lakers pick from Phoenix comes across this summer, if so then the 76ers will likely have 3 top 16 picks so can draft across a variety of positions. Also things could depend on whether Saric comes over this summer too.
If they do get the 3 picks, I’d assume they will look for a PG, another combo guard or a SG/SF and a complimentary big or a SF/PF. If it’s two picks then a PG and either a SG/SF or combo guard or possibly another big if Saric comes over.
The 76ers also have 5 second rounders including two in 31-35 range currently, so Hinkie will have a lot of armour to use in potential trade deals around the draft period to get the draft hand he wants.

Lotto StudParticipantIf the plan is to keep Tony Wroten on board, I believe the Sixers cannot go wrong with either guy (Mudiay or Russell).
The contrast is that D’Angelo Russell’s game translates better to a halfcourt style of play to really dissect an opposing 5 with his 3-step ahead passing. As for Emmanuel Mudiay, he’s everything one can love from a 6’5” athletic guard to distribute and play an uptempo style with the young core etched in stone now.
Personally, I would most definitely take Mario Henzonja into consideration as high as #2 for Philadelphia because of what’s on paper now. There’s so much youth and size that the biggest glaring hole has yet to be addressed, which is spacing and stretching the floor from the perimeter. Once they can lock in a "Stealth Bomber" the City of Brotherly Love will be back on top out East within 5 years or so.

Lotto StudParticipantRussell appears to be lost on the floor defensively.

r377ParticipantI think he has watched too much James Harden on defense and just saves himself for offense….
Having said that he was awsome against Northwestern, I will be keeping an eye on him in the tournament

EndlessknightParticipantIf all the stars were to align for the Sixers they would win the lottery getting the 1st pick, the Lakers would fall to 6th thus receiving that pick, the Heat would miss the playoffs giving them the 12th pick and OKC would finish 19th. If all that were to happen they would have the 1st, 6th, 12th and 19th picks of the first round.
Given that scenario I would trade down from first and pick up one of Mudiay/Russell plus a future pick. Personally I lean towards Russell because from everything I’ve read he’s the better outside shooter (I’ve never seen Mudiay play a full game).
At 6 I would take Hezonja and Porzingis at 12th, leaving both in Europe for another year. At 19 I would take a guy like LeVert of Grant.
Of course this is the best case scenario and has little chance of happening. As of right now they have only a19.9% chance of winning the lottery and 16% of getting the Lakers pick, thus only a 3.1% chance of both happening (assuming the two events are independent). I would say it’s 50/50 that Miami misses the playoffs. If they make it their pick will be around 15/16. But it’s highly likely OKC’s pick will be 19th or 20th.
The most likely outcome is that the Sixers end up with the 3rd, 15th and 19th picks. If that’s the case I would still take Russell and then use the latter to picks to try and trade up for Hezonja.
