Yahoo picked up a story that the Sixers and Hawks almost made a trade: Schroeder for Ish Smith, Nick Stauskas, Jakar Sampson, and a 1st round draft pick (from this year). The report said the Hawks backed out, but that the offer will be revisited come draft time.

That’s all you can get for Schroeder? Serious? I’m expecting Noel or someone like that. Obviously the Sixers aren’t offering their top pick and kudos to them if they can get Schroeder AND keep Okafor, Noel, and Simmons/Ingram (whichever). I’m not a Sixers fan, but attracted to the bizarre world Sam Hinkie lives in. Do you think the Sixers can get Schroeder without giving up one of those pieces, and if so, what could they get away with?

That article didn’t say anything about what pick it was. If it was their own or the Lakers pick thats a fair enough trade, tho I’d have to agree if it was the heat or warriors picks they have. That sacto pick is too far in the future I would think. Another factor in not pulling the trigger on the Hawks side would be to see how the lottery shakes out first.

the pick offered was the Miami Heat pick which would be around #16 – 20ish….. Scroeder is a nice young player….. but if Phila offered a Lottery pick for him Atlanta would have pulled the trigger on that deal……

I have often wondered what sort of package the Hawks would accept for Schroder or would they move Teague first. Schroder can be renewed this summer and playing the back up role is hard to guess his true worth.

I’ve suggested before maybe Philly look at him especially if the pick from Lakers via Suns comes across or their own pick falls outside top 2 or 3. I’ve always thought a deal based around a pick at about 5 would be fair value for Schroder. The Hawks are more win now but getting a young stud in on a rookie deal rather than having to pay Schroder big money as a bench player may be a good move especially if they decide to stick with Teague.

I agree. I think if the Laker pick conveys this year, trading that for Schroeder becomes a fair deal.

If the Lakers’ pick conveys I would rather have Murray than Schroder.

Murray is the kind of shooter they need. But they are rudderless without a Schroeder type. Frankly, they exactly need both.

That is actually a good trade for both teams. Schroder is young and fits with the sixers core. Ish smith is a great back up PG and the hawks get a first round pick on a rookie scale deal for 4 years as opposed to paying schroder at least 8 to 12 million a year.

The rumor also said the Sixers wanna give Schroader a max deal too which is super interesting. Schroader is everything the Sixers need right now.
