Well, as this miserable season winds down, we have the lottery and draft to look forward to.  With a likely Top 3 pick, the NCAA was a let down – Embiid (back so bad he couldn’t play), Parker (bad game against a mediocre team – same with Hood), Wiggins (did he forget there was a game ?).

I don’t see any of these guys coming in and turning the franchise around in 1 season, just being a cog in long term improvement.  With the Pelicans pick I’m not sure which direction to go.  Other than McBuckets, I’m not overwhelmed by anyone who may be around the 10th pick.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how the ping pong balls turn out.  I’m sort of thinking the Best new guy on the team will actually be Nerlens Noel !

We all know that there really will be no quick fix either way….They need to take the guy with the most potential (i.e. Wiggins) and have him grow with MCW, Noel and whoever they decide to pick with the pelicans pick. They will have almost $40 million in cap space, but don’t expect a big splash this summer either. What hinkie has demonstrated to this point is patience so don’t expect him to deviate that plan anytime soon.

Just stop with the McDermott stuff cuz it ain’t happening. Cleanthony Early looks like a star in the making though. I wouldn’t be surprised if he shot up some draft boards after his performance yesterday. That is one dude that I could see flourishing in the break with MCW. The Sixers are going with Parker/Wiggins first, them taking the best two way player with upside available, aka Harris, Lavine, Vonleh, Randle, Payne, and maybe Early. And yes, this will be a 3-4 year rebuild.

you just disrespected every player in this lottery draft mind you all these players are freshmen and  parker and wiggins have performed better then most wingmen freshmen’s in the last 4 to 5 years.

how many rookies come in their first year and  turn around and a franchise singe handly?

to be frank I hope they don’t put us in the playoffs their rookie year I want to go back to the lottery  and geta  top pick if we are going to suck bad let us for a few years. I seen somewhere some one said the sixers are pulling of an express line okc modeled rebuild  they would have drafted two lottery picks  in back to back lotteries.

A quick fix always lead to a faster problem.

Is 100% right. This is not a quick fix. It may not be a bad thing if Noel is their best player next year. If they end up with Wiggins/Parker, add him to MCW & Noel and that may end up being a really good core on a really good team. I would consider/try to trade down with the N.O. pick (maybe 14 & 17 from Phx. or 16 & 18 from Chi.). No doubt this is a lotto team next year and they go with a C/PF depending on whether Noel looks like an NBA 5 next year.

I have always thought that we need a full two year tank to rebuild this team. The tank started at last year’s draft when we traded Jrue.

So this upcoming offseason we need to draft the best players that we can and then continue to not sign free agents next year. We need a good player from the 2015 draft too.

The summer of 2015 is the first time I would consider trying to win games. We need to stay patient as we have a long way to go. We may be able to contend for a playoff spot in 2016 if we continue to make progress.

We can’t do anything foolish in the near term.

Yeah, a lineup of MCW, Wroten, Early, Randle, and Noel sounds good.  Size inside and on the wing with a low post scorer and versatility on the perimeter.

Put those guys on the court together, give them a bunch of minutes, and let them figure it out.

They might also want to trade some of those second round picks for a late first rounder if a shooter like Nik Stauskas is on the board.  See if Nik can be their sixth man shooter.

I love your lineup, I feel like Randle is really overlooked. I’ve thought for a while that Wroten could turn into a good 2, but it sounds to me as though the coach prefers he be the backup to MCW.

Another thing that Sam Hinkie has to play with is cap space whilst he may not attract a major FA, he has the ability to absorb so contracts from teams needing to cut cap and can use that to generate more draft picks going forward.

I agree that Philly won’t be a one year fix unless they happen to land a franchise FA but with another strong draft next year they can kick on. Look at NOP and the Cavs who drafted Davis and Irving in recent years, both these guys are franchise potenial players yet both are still on losing teams so rebuilding takes time.

Not only do they have cap space they can use, they have cap space they have to use. Based on the guaranteed contracts for next year, IF they used all 7 draft picks in June on players for next year’s roster, the will be close to 20 million under the cap floor. That means they’ll likely only draft 4 players in June for next year’s roster and have to sign 3 veterans totaling around 20 million for the 2014/2015 season.

I agree with what everyone else said that the Sixers aren’t going to be good next year. One thing I’d add is that if the Sixers make the playoffs next year, their first rounder goes to the Celtics. If they don’t, their 2015 and 2016 2nd rounders go to the Celtics. So really the worst case scenario for the Sixers is being the 8th seed in the East in 2015.

Good point, no way can we give the C’s our first next year. On the other hand, it would probably take a 20 game improvement to make the playoffs next year. Seems like quite a reach to me.

sixers should go after avery bradley this year then after jimmy butler the summer of  15

I think for  brett brown being a defensive/player development  coach going after 2  sg that brings defense to the table without offensive  liability is a huge move in the right direction.

lets say we get parker we will need to get a good defender to pair with him to keep him out of foul trouble and preserve his energy for offense. Lets say we draft wiggins pairing  him with two of the leagues most elite wing defenders acquired thru free agency will surley put us on par with the top defensive teams in the league and two of the top defensive teams made the conference championships last year just saying DEFENSE WINS GAMES. Wiggins does have a lot of potential on the defense of end averaging a steal and a block a game  plus put in the fact noel will be suiting up and if he lives up to his billing this could be a great defensive team.

we still have thad young and hes a big part of the sixers but I say we move on without him  see what we can get for him.

The Sixers may not be in the running to get a proven franchise talent but they could go after some decent FA’s or put in offers to some of the 2010 draft class such as Avery Bradley as mentioned above or Gordon Hayward or Greg Monroe could be another option perhaps if they don’t draft or get the chance to draft Embiid.
