So after recently watching the Nike Hoop Summit Game, here is my thoughts on players I want the Sixers to grab with their 4 picks this year.

1 – 3 (Their own) – Sorry, I can’t see them being a very good team this year.  I think other teams got better while they got worse.  I think Okafor is slow footed and will struggle on defense while Noel will struggle on offense.  They don’t have a PG, Wroten is just a slasher, not a thinker.  Pierre Jackson is exciting but too small.  So I assume they will be back in this range because I can’t think of antoher team besides the Knicks that will be worse than them.

I like the idea of taking Ben Simmons here.  Some talk about Labissiere going #1.  Simmons appears to have an NBA body.  Only thing is he is not a strong finisher at the rim, and he doesn’t trust his own outside shot.  Tired of the NBA drafting all these athletes who can’t shoot well.  However, at 6’10” 220, with his passing ability, he’s a potential force on the court.  Too much to pass up, so if he’s there I’d take him.

Labissiere – looks good and a nice fit in today’s NBA.  Has post-skills but can also jump out to defend the stretch 4.  Very talented but a little small framed.  Just don’t think we need another big man, unless we trade Noel or Okafor, (hoping Embiid comes back healthy and Saric is a complete player), I really dont’ want Labissiere.

Ingram – this kid is a toothpick, but a toothpick that can PLAY.  He was quietly the best scorer on the court, and just has a knack to play the right way.  His body would get abused right now in the NBA, but his scoring ability is what I want the Sixers to get.  Def NOT Jaylen Brown, who is just a dunker.  I’ll take George Gervin over Dominique Wilkins everyday.

Lakers pick – Can see this pick being in the 4 – 8 range. Looks like Lakers guards need to learn how to mesh together, can’t see them suddenly making the playoffs in the West.  I think tehy’ll be the Sixers of this past year, winning more games early on than they should have, but ultimately falling back to where they belong.

I want the kid Malik Newman.  He is a scorer with a pure shot.  I think he is attainable with the Lakers pick.  Sad part is, there are no good PGs in this draft.  Last year although he had a hard time shooting, Mudiay seemed like the best PG def out of this draft.  If you got rid of MCW, you should have taken a PG.  I say this because the guy they got is now a Wower in Okafor.  I would’ve rather had the PG to run the ship (and he looks pretty solid).  I think Mudiay over Malik Newman everyday.  Malik Newman’s defense is very suspect, but I think its permissible on the Sixers because they will have a good team defense.  Regardless, the boy can shoot, and he reminds me a little of D Wade.  Stinks he’s only 6’3” but I think he’s a good get with the Lakers pick.

Dragan Bender – I havent’ seen him play so I will hold my opinion on him.  If we got him as a guard, that’s great.   We need the guard, especially since we got rid of MCW.  I would not have minded seeing MCW now as the talent slowly rises, but okay, we need shooters.

Miami Pick – I see this being around 13 – 17.  Justin Jackson out of UNC I think will last this late.  The kid is a bit like Ingram, in that he’s skinny, but can flat out ball.  He’s a smart player with skill.  I’d take him on my team, and I think he’d be a nice big guard/forward (a shane battier type), that matches up well with your big guys.  Its now about finding pieces to mesh with your big guys.  He’s a good passer and a good shooter.

OKC pick – 23 – 27.  I will go with Jamal Murray, the Canadian point guard who I think is serviceable (maybe he and Justin Jackson can be swapped at those picks), or Caris Levert or Domantas Sabonis.

Basically, I’m looking for guys with skill.  There really is nobody else I want the Sixers to take.

    Simmons/Ingram

    Newman/Bender

    Jamaal Murray

    Justin Jackson/Levert/Sabonis.

OKC Pick – probably in the 24 to 26 range.

That said "if we take Okafor, it means ohhh shhh for Embiid".

And also, Mr. Zach Lavine over Garry Harris all day everyday.  I think its pretty clear how that one turned out.

Now I’m gonna say "Why trade MCW when there are no good PGs out there.  Should’ve taken Muday over Okafor".

Need to trade for a PG, maybe Ty Lawson. I don’t see a franchise PG in next year draft.

This time last year Russel wasn’t even in the picture let alone drafted with hopes to be the as the Lakers franchise point guard. So much can happen.

I don’t think there is any doubt at this point in time Simmons looks like the no.1 pick in the draft, however when college ball starts this can all change.

Kinda agree with you but Jamal Murray is going Top 10.

I think the first pick will depend on who gets it. There’s no sure #1 player.

Anyway, Philly should end up with Murray and either Ben Simmons or Jaylen Brown

I am finding this thread crazy as hell. Maybe I am living in a dream world but I thought everyone was crazy high on Simmons being a consensus no 1 pick? The few posts on here don’t seem to high on him?

That will change within 3 LSU games. Hes a lock for NPOY in my opinion.

Nobody is saying that Ben Simmons is not worthy of being the 1st pick in the 2016.

What being said is that they are a few other prospects that have the possibility of going 1st, depending on who lands the pick and what they need.

What you are saying is exactly what I disagree with. I think Simmons is such a can’t miss prospect that it doesn’t matter what team picks. This is at this point in time of course.

I think he could be really good for this team, he can flat out play.

It’ll be interesting to see how they move one or more of theses picks, they probably will draft 3+ rookies to play that year, unless they take a flier on a guy like Dragen Bender

His size, maturity & unselfishness would blend well w/ Stauskus, Okafor, Noel, Saric & Embiid & the other players they draft in 2016… It’s a shame Embiid & Saric won’t be playing this year but it may work out for the best b/c I believe Noel is a budding star – his #’s were unbelievable last season – equal to Anthony Davis’ Rookie year & Okafor is an Absolute Stud & better than I thought on Defense…Mudiay looks like a stud but you can’t take him ahead of Okafor who will be destroying every team in the League on the blocks… Having Okafor & Noel develop together will be a good thing b/c Embiid is so scary talented & Gigantic, it’s not gonna matter, he’s going to be dominant… Phila would be Crazy to trade ANY of those 3 Bigs…
