The sixers seem to be trying to win games. I know management might be trying to tank, but those kids are playing hard and have won some games recently which might be screwing up the tanking plan getting less lottery balls. I think MCW, Nerlens Noel, Robert Covington, Tony Wroten, KJ McDaniels and Joel embid are all a lock for rebuilding the team. Add Saric next year along with the top 3-4 pick theyll recieve this year and the late lottery pick theyll get from the Heat where they could get another shooter or wing talent. All the cap room they have to maybe lure in a possible free agent 2 guard who can shoot and I would assume the team can build from there. If they put out a 2015-2016 lineup of

    PG-MCW/Emanuel Mudiay****

    SG-Tony Wroten/KJ McDaniels/Free agent pick up

    SF-Dario Saric

    PF-Jahil Okafor***

    C-Joel Embid

Bench- Robert Covington, Nerlens Noel, 2015 lottery pick from heat along with Wroten or McDaniels…Whoever doesnt start.

Do we feel a roster like this could contend for one of the last playoff seeds in a year where they are full strength attempting to win?

I would give this group 25 wins. But adding Joel Embid and Saric makes a huge diffrrence and those two are for sure playing next year. If their top pick ends up being a Mudiay(to hard to pass up at #2) or if they get an Okafor at #1…you essentially added 2 top 5 picks and a top 10 pick along with another late lottery in this years draft. Sam Hinkie is really stacking up assets and Im sure how I just summed it up for next year is close to how he is seeing it. Thoughts?

Front offices try to tank. Players never try to tank. They all have too much pride, too big of egos and (especially for young unestablished players) way too much on the line. I like the way this team is being built though. And realy impressed with Covington.

The upper management of this team is obviously tanking, and doing the whole accumulating assets  thing, but like you said this team busts their butts every night. This is a testament to how good of a coach brett brown is. no matter how little talent he has been given he has had his guys playing hard. Im sure he wont get it as it should probably go to a playoff coach, but i surely think brett brown deserves some coach of the year votes due to what hes doing with a team that really only has 5-6 nba players.

If they win their next two games, is Tony Wroten traded the next day?

It surely seemed as if they wanted to trade all of the good players they had last year to be sure to tank. They like tony wroten and would like to keep him, but for the right price..Hinkie will pull the trigger. Thats obvious with how long hes been there. So as long as Hinkie wants to rebuild, anybody can be traded. Kinda doesnt make the place appealing in free agency knowing your GM can move you at any time….

Even though the sixers are collecting nice young talent I still think the players dont fit well together. They have no floor spacing with MCW and Mcdaniels and wroten isnt a sharp shooter either. They need to find a way to pick up shooters or else they will be just another talented team with no chemistry.

McDaniels started the year shooting well and then he had a rough December. I imagine his shooting will improve enough to at least make him a threat with his feet set. Robert Covington is a good shooter now and he’s still young and can improve. I doubt MCW and Wrote ever become great shooters, but they could be strong from the midrange if they work at it.

I agree that the 76ers will need more shooters if they want to eventually be a playoff team, but they have some decent young pieces now.

I agree with poster above that while they legitamitely have some nice pieces, I’m not sold on the fit. I think both MCW and Wroten are PG’s they are able to play both now for stretches, but the lack of shooting eventually catches up with them. They are a great tandem to have though if you have the shooters to put around them. I just think there is going to be major wheeling and dealing to come from now through the start of next season. I wouldn’t mind seeing them ship MCW, Wroten, Noel, Hollis Thomspn and the later first to Utah for Gobert, Exum, Hood, Ian Clark and their upcoming first. Exum becomes a calculated risk with Bret as former/ future coach, Gobert gives some protection against Embiid’s health and otherwise is a top back-up, Hood competes with Grant to back up Covington and they look to draft Mudiay and one of Turner/ Towns/ Lyle to pair with Embiid in the front court. In a perfect world finish it off with a run at Jimmy Butler. Now they have a near future top 10 defensive team with loads of offensive potential to develop.

We have a big PG in McW who needs some spacing to really thrive…He our triple double threat ala Jason Kidd, so my first course of action would be finding a SG to stretch the floor, a top 5 pick this is too high of a risk when drafting Shooters, so I would use the Miami pick and some 2nd rounders to find a trade partner and land our guy in the mid-late lotto (Levert or Hezonja seem like could fits in that range)

That’s my plan with the Miami pick…Use it to secure Hezonja or Levert to play at Sg…

Than depending on where we land in The Lottery…

    1. Okafor
    2. Mudiay
    3. Johnson
    4. Towns
    5. Turner

Dark horse pick…Kristaps Porzingus, we were said be targeting him last year and if he shows signs of being a great Pf in the mold of Dirk or Pau I feel like Sam Hinkie would take a long look at him…

If we draft a Big with our top pick(Okafor/Towns or Turner) than we’ll land a Wing in the Lotto using Miami’s pick to trade up(Hezonja/Levert)

But if we take a wing like Stan the Man Johnson or even Kelly Obure in the top 5 expect us to make a trade to move up to take Porzingus(again using the Miami pick and future assets)

I’d be interested in any of these combinations of prospects

    Plan A
Okafor or Towns plus Hezonja or Levert

    Plan B
Johnson or Obure plus Porzingus by way of trade…

Either way the 76ers find a 3rd big to groom with Noel and Joel, plus they add a wing player with potential to start at Sg or Sf

Than we have our MAX CAP SPACE…??? I would love to steal Jimmy Butler for the Max, or even give Kevin Kove to keys to the City and build around Love and the Twin Towers (Noel and Joel OR Joel and Jahlil???)

Plan A should be to Sign a Free Agent in their Prime, Butler makes sense, as does Love, if we don’t land Okafor with a #1 pick of course…

The idea of signing Love is intriguing but I don’t think the Sixers are going to make a run at a big name this Summer, they’ll probably hold that off ’til 2016 (Durant?).

But if they did decide to make a run for Love, and thought that could get him, then I would take 2 wings in the draft. Say two of Johnson/Hezonja/Oubre/Russell/LeVert.

      A starting five of:

      PG – MCW
      SG – Hezonja or LeVert

      SF – Johnson or Oubre
      PF – Love
      C – Embiid

Bench: Noel, Wroten, Saric, McDaniels, Grant, Covington, Sims
