kingoftheplaygroundParticipantive been watching these summer league games and i really like what ive seen so far from peyton siva and tony mitchell. seems like siva has picked up right where he left off in college. hes controlling the tempo of the game, running the pick and roll efficiently, making smart passes, and limiting his turnovers. i feel like peyton has shown that he is capable of playing point in this league at some capacity and im confident he will be signed by an NBA team.
tony mitchell has shown the potential to be an immediate defensive threat. hes been blocking shots left and right. ive also noticed how versatile of a finisher he could become. on numerous occasions instead of trying to dunk over his defender he has swiftly went to a reverse layup to avoid being blocked. hes shown pretty good hands and great body control imo. tony is looking like a good pickup for detroit and i hope and pray that he develops into the player that he has the potential to be.

providencefriars1ParticipantSiva has been a terrific floor general. He looked like a veteran out there and excelled at creating offense for others. He also kept the defense honest by showing he can hit the NBA 3 pointer. I believe in their second game he hit two threes. This plus his defensive ability makes him a valuable reserve
Mitchell oozes potential. His jump shot wasn’t falling this week but it looks fundamentally sound. He has made his usual spectacular athletic plays as well as mixing in some good high low passes to Drummond. Both look like steals

kobyzParticipantSiva is a player who has gread basketball understanding, very healthy-mindedness and mental toughness but on the other hand small pure talant… i can see him make a team as a backup, i compare him to Jacque Vaughn…

JoeWolf1Siva has surprised me a little bit, he’s played well this summer league, but Detroit has a crowded house at guard. I’m hopeful Siva can get a contract and spend the season in the D-League. I think he could be a 3rd PG in the league.
Mitchell has shown he’s not quite ready for NBA minutes, but he’s been great on the glass and using his athletic ability to his advantage. If Detroit doesn’t pursue a re-singing for Jason Maxiell, I could see Mitchell taking a couple of those minutes. If you combine he and Drummond’s offensive rebound averages they’re good for 10.8 per game, haha ( Andre 6 pg Tony 4.8 pg )

i’m jus so offendedParticipantAbsolutely agree. I’m sure they both make the roster. Mitchell may even get some llaying time but Siva is stuck in a pretty big log jam with Knight, Billups and Bynum. He’ll probably see some NBDL time. Mitchell is almost like a mini version of Drummond coming out. Athletic freak and pure potenial with motor questions and consistency issues. But I think both can be contributors down the line

PlatypusParticipantAs of right now Detroit has 16 players on the roster after waving Kim English so there is a good chance that one of these players are in the D league to
Siva or Mitchell slide in somewhere with the other going D league.

JoeWolf1They should amnesty Charlie V. He’s got an awful contract and he doesn’t fit at all with the way that team is trying to be built.

TheArtistPaysthePriceParticipantI think you are right and maybe even should have been amnestied last year. But 2014 has a great draft class and a even better free agency class. Teams will be scrambling to get cap space and if you have to pay him anyway, he could be a move-able piece. He is a expiring deal that could be thrown in somewhere to make salaries match either for the Pistons or for some salary capped out teams that are making a major move.

RafterParticipantHe’s been coached really well in his life and is a great human-being on top of that. He’s so poised and more athletic then given credit for. He’s done a great job taking care of the ball and I’m surprised by how much of a ball hawk he’s been, he had seven steals the other day. Despite having low percentages, he hasn’t taken terrible shots as they’ve all been within the offensive scheme. As for his outlook this upcoming season, he’s going to the D-League because the Pistons added Bynum and more recently Billups to an already crowded back court.
Mitchell is just a freak plain and simple, it’s crazy that he and Drummond are on the same team in the summer league.
There are going to be more second round picks who are going to look good because that was the nature of the draft, there wasn’t much separation from players picked between 26-43 and beyond that guys like Osby, Neto, Ennis, Kazemi and of course Siva have all impressed not to mention the undrafted players.

TheArtistPaysthePriceParticipantI have been really impressed with Osby. He has the ball handling ability to play the three, he reminds me a little of Earl Clark.

WITNESS2014ParticipantDetroit has done a hell of a job in these last 3 or 4 drafts. They haven’t had the highest picks but it seems like they have the right players fall into their lap.
