adumParticipantThe Dog days are almost over and preseason is just around the bend. With all the new rookies, trades and signings that have joined their new team all we can do now is wait.
In that time is where debates fly left and right. The most common NBA debate usually ask to see whose better between two players of a similar skill level.
Here are some of the pairings me and my friends go at with each other:
Victor O vs Bradley B
Jonas V vs Enes C
Wall vs Lillard
Klay vs Jimmy
These are just some of the matchups where we always bump heads.
BONUS
Steph Curry vs Ray Allen (This is strictly focusing on who is the better shooter)

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantThese are some close calls. I could make an argument either way for each one. Just strictly imo:
Oladipo over beal: neither of these guys has reached their potential yet. Beal is the far superior shooter which probably gives him a slight edge offensively right now. However, oladipo’s athleticism, quickness and long arms give him potential to be one of the best perimeter defenders in the league and I think his shooting and playmaking will evolve to the point that he is a perennial all-star.
Kanter over valuncunias: neither is a great defender although valuncias at least brings more effort on that end. Despite his defensive shortcomings, kanters offensive game is just more advanced imo. Slightly better low post moves and the added element of being able to hit the 15-17 footer consistently, which valuncunias hasn’t really shown yet.
Wall over lillard: lillard is the better shooter and scorer but wall is basically better at everything else and just a better all-around player imo.
Thompson over Butler: could go either way here. Butler is slightly better defensively and Thompson is slightly better offensively. Only reason I’m choosing Thompson is because I believe his deadly outside shooting holds slightly more value in today’s game than butlers slashing game.
Curry over Allen: Allen was the standard for great shooters for a long time but he never had the ability to create shots off the dribble and knock them down with the efficiency that curry does. Allen might have been the greatest spot up shooter ever, but what curry has done the past few seasons is something we’ve never seen before.

Arc12345ParticipantBeal over Oladipo. He’s the superior shooter and scorer. I love oladipo’s athleticism and defense though. They’re just so different.
Jonas over Enes. I think Jonas is more physical, and maybe not as talented offensively, but defensively is much better.
Lillard over Wall. Ill get a lot of flack for this I’m sure, but I think Lillard gets the nod here. Far better shooter, to me a better leader (and wall is a good leader), and most importantly clutch. I’ve never seen Wall hit a shot that big like Lillard did against Houston. Wall is the better passer and perhaps creator.
Butler over Thompson. Love Klay, but I like Jimmy a bit more. Both play good defense, Thompson is the better shooter, but I like Butler athletically and I think he will continue to improve.
Curry over Allen. I didn’t think the day would come so soon, but Curry shoots better than anyone in history. Off the dribble, on the catch, however you want it. He is a deadly sniper.

elliotmcadooParticipantOladipo over Beal higher ceiling in my opinion just needs a jumper
Enes over Jonas elite skills on the offensive end
Wall over Lillard defense and better driving to the lane skills
Thompson over Butler I’m a Bulls fan but I need Jimmy to do it more than a year
Curry over Allen because he can create a shot for himself better

ZouldiersParticipantOladipo over Beal. More healthy and is a better defender even though Beal has a slight edge over him on offense.
Jonas over Enes. He actually plays defense and more physical than Kanter.
Wall over Lillard. Tough on this one but I like Wall more because he’s more of an all around player than Lillard and he is one of my favorite players in the league. I like both players though.
Butler ove Klay. Love Klay especially on that game when he scored 37 in the 3rd quarter but Butler has become a very good two way player and can actually lead a team.
Curry over Allen. He can shoot anywhere whether its off the dribble or on the catch. Nuff said

The Scare Crow RisesParticipanti see many people voting for Curry over Ray Allen and I’m a little upset
Ive never seen Ray Allen take a shot I didn’t think had a 90% chance of going in, that’s with or without a defender in his face or not, he could always create his shot too, he just never had to rely on that aspect of his Game
Curry is a phenomenal player and I’ve seen him make some incredible shots, I have seen him take several that had no business going in, that is a testament to his skill BUT also has to be contributed to a bit of luck
Steph is a great shooter, likely an all time great, but I’d rank Ray Allen and Reggie Miller 1 and 2 right now, Curry has a long way to go to surpass those 2 in my mind, they had longevity and clutch moments, I’m not ready to forget all those and crown Curry the Greatest 3point Shooter of All Time even though I do think he is on his way there
