 Both of these guys are standout prospects with two different playing styles, but what I’m comparing in the post is yesterday’s stat line for Simmons and Ingram and as well as the end result of both games.

Ben Simmons: 20pts, 10reb, 3ast, 2stl, 3to

Brandon Ingram: 20pts, 10reb, 4ast, 1stl, 2blk, 1to

Simmons stat are against a none ranked opponent and his team lost by 7 points, while Ingram stats are against a top 5 opponent and his team won by a point.

So what do you guys think about these to players with almost a mirror image stat line which guy is the best long term prospect as far as all around game?

People are going to blame Simnmons team losing on the coach and not hold him accountable for taking over. People are going to point ot the fact that Ingram has a better supporting cast yet Amille Jefferson and Tyrus Jones both did not play.  I was on the fence between these two. I thought in the beginning though Simmons was being  a little bit overrated, and it looks like people are more realistic with his stock now. He is the better all around player and defender. But I don’t see him shoot the ball at all what’s the deal?

 Didn’t watch either game.  I was at the Memphis-Central Florida game.  Tacko Fall is YUGE!  Don’t think they used him right, but he is definitely a threat…  doesn’t really jump much.

Now, I am not comparing Ben Simmons to anyone, but Dedrick Lawson showed me some nice flashes of talent last night.  He took one all by himself coast to coast one time.  He did some ball handling.  He finished with 13 and 11, and that is usually a DOWN NIGHT for him now.  Good athlete, not great.  Good size, not great size.  More of a tweener probably.  But, I guess, a poor man’s Ben Simmons.  And, I am not a guy who has Dedrick Lawson in a hypothetical top 10 for this draft (if he leaves school).

Ben Simmons MIGHT have inflated stats since he is the biggest guy on the court for LSU and he is a high-usage guy.  

Simmons had the 20 and 10 last night, BUT he only had 3 assists.  I would think a highly touted freshman should get at least 3 assists ON ACCIDENT.

Lawson had 2 last night.  Plus his stats (13 and 11) were possibly deflated playing next to Shaq Goodwin who went for 12 and 10 and ROUTINELY gets double doubles.  He ALSO was playing against a team that features a SKYSCRAPER at center.  

Tacko Fall finished the night with 7 points, 9 boards, and 4 blocks in 19 minutes — and he didn’t actually look like he was doing enough.  

If I were calling the shots in this draft, and I had the top pick I would think about trading down to 2.  Haven’t watched much of Ingram though…

I could have Grayson Allen as high as 10 on my board.  Maybe not a core guy, or even a starter, but looks like a solid 6th man type.  All the guy does is put the ball in the hoop and score.  Good explosion, nice hops.  

I would look at Tacko Fall in the late first round if he declares for the draft.  I think a finesse team like the Warriors could use him.  I think he would get some easy baskets on offense.  Then on the other side he could alter shots and block shots into the 3rd row.

 To some people there on the same level, and to some Ben Simmons is the clear cut number 1, and maybe to a select few basketball posties Brandon Ingram is number 1 but what im getting to is that there is also an age gap between the two as well Ben Simmons birthday is 7/20/96 and Brandon Ingrams birthday is 9/2/97 I can see during draft workout time Ingram stock rising especially if LSU doesn’t even make the tourney. & I can also see Ben Simmons  stock rising even if LSU doesn’t make the tourney because Ben Simmons would have alot of time to work on his jumper and his game.

 yeah i’ve also been impressed with lawson..he’s a much better prospect than i expected….has great scoring instincts,can rebound,blk shots ,pass and play with his back to the basket..i hope he sticks around another yr to work on improving some other parts of his game especially his perimeter skills and defense..but this yr is expected to be a weak draft.so i wouldnt be surprised if he comes out ..he could be a mid 1st rounder based on his upside.

Ingram was 7-21, and Simmons was 5-10 and they ended up with similar stats. People rip Simmons for not shooting jump shots, but if he did shoot a lot everybody would say what is he doing, he should be physically dominating. I would rather have a player who plays to his strengths. It’s crazy to think lsu is losing because Simmons doesn’t shoot 3s

 I’m not trying to make an excuse, but Simmons has an injured finger on his shooting hand the past couple games, if you look at the first good chunk of the season he shot low to mid 70’s from the freethrow line.. In regards to who is better, I agree that it is really close and we probably will have to watch more throughout the season. However the knock on Simmon’s jump shot when he’s getting close to 20 12 and 5 a game really goes to show that even with an average one he can dominate games. At this point I’d say it depends on more on need and the dynamics of a team that has the number 1 pick.

Just makes it harder on them to be a rim protector and all the while with both of them not being elite defenders for their own regular positions to begin with. Offensively, he can act as a center tho, just need another big man who can play out on the perimeter and can rim protect.
