kobyzParticipantI have huge problem with Simmons mentality and competitiveness, I’m afraid it will prevent him from being a star and he will turn to be a waste of talent just like Jeff Green… I think I’m leaning a little toward the Duke kid because of it…

negguaryParticipantThe problem with your statement is that Jeff Green was not nearly as talented as simmons was at this point PERIOD.

kobyzParticipantI didn’t mean to suggest they the same type of talent at all… My point is that Jeff Green is type of player that didn’t realize close to his talent and potential because of lack of good basketball mentality, lackadaisical approach to the game, lack of fire, lack of killer instinct, etc… And I can see Simmons not fullyfill his potential for the same reasons…

mercyman25ParticipantTwo guys that could have been so much more. Tons of talent, small drive and psyche. Simmons it appears is gonna be tough to coach.(appears) He threw his hand picked coach( God father) under the bus at LSU. I see him being like Cousins, a great talent that never wins anything due to his loser attitude. I may be wrong and he has a fantastic career in the nba. It’s going to be challenging for him and his psyche being on a loser team for a few years though. If he can hold it together for a few years, Philadelphia or L.A. may end up great again.

ChoppyParticipantUnless I’m mistaken, his godfather was the assistant coach. The coach he ‘threw under the bus’ was no relation.
On a related note, how bad was his coach? Absolutely terrible in my opinion. Probably deserved to get thrown under something larger than a bus.

VRod305ParticipantTim Duncan never had that rip your head off competitive fire either. LeBron doesn’t really have it otherwise he wouldn’t have needed to play with Wade (who has it).
And guess what, if the Sixers take him No. 1, he doesn’t need to have it, because Embiid does. Trust me, we take him, it won’t be a losing team for long. He is a ridiculous talent. Ingram isn’t in his stratosphere.

ExumInfernoParticipantJeff Green didn’t want the ball, in college or the NBA, while Simmons wants it all the time. He wants to have that pressure, to bring the ball up and either attack the basket or make the pass to the scorer. Lots of people to compare Simmons to, but Green for the game or their thinking doesn’t seem to fit.
Green is a good player, but a piece that is there as a minor option. Green would actually be good with Simmons at the forward spots. Green wouldn’t have to do a lot, hit some outside shots, run the floor, take whichever forward was more dangerous on defense as Simmons doesn’t needed to get fouls.

kobyzParticipantI still see in Simmons some passiveness and lack of resilience, especially when things getting a little tougher…add to it that he has a lot of work to transelet his game to an nba position, it’s make it risky taking him over Ingram…

ChoppyParticipantPeople accused LeBron of being passive early in his career for passing up potential game winning shots. He turned out ok. Not saying Simmons = LeBron but more of a temperament comparison.

kobyzParticipantLeBron was always 100% all in with desire to win… Simmons passiveness making him to lack focus…
