If you were calling the shots for the Sixers and Lakers. If you were the sixers, what would you give up for the lakers pick which will be Brandon Ingram since the Sixers will more then likely be taking Ben Simmons. Laying out the sixers "assets" that I think would be available

    #24 pick this year

    #26 pick this year

Lakers pick next year(top 3 protected)projected early to be in a very deep draft

    Jahlil Okafor

    Nerlens Noel

And to throw it out there just because they do have it, the sixers own the 2019 Sacramento Kings first round pick.

So switching it to the lakers, what combination of those assets would it take for them to move off of the number two pick? I would say it would take both picks this year, get the original pick back next year, and either Okafor or Noel with the main target being Okafor.

If Im the sixers, and we assume they really like Ingram and how he fits the team needs, I would give up both of the other picks this year, and Okafor for sure. Clears up some room at the center position for Embid and Noel. I would also have to be really confident Embiid is healthy which nobody knows, so for the sake of not arguing and personal shots at Embiid, lets just say he sat for two years and actually got healthy and stays reasonably healthy. I think the lakers will be bad again next year so it would be really tough for the sixers to come off that lakers pick next year I would think. Okafor averaged 17.5ppg(51% fg) 7.0rpg and 1.2bpg as a 19/20 year old rookie. Cousins as a rookie averaged 14.1ppg(43% fg) and 8.6rpg for a quick comparison.

So my quick consenus in this fantsay idea, is that if Im running the sixers, I give up the two picks and Okafor for Ingram. I would not include the lakers pick. And if im running the Lakers I would want that original 2017 pick back to complete the deal. All are under rookie contracts so I would assume that the numbers would be close if that factors into it. What are your guys thoughts?

Also forgot to mention to keep in mind that rookie contracts are at a premium in value. The lakers are a mess and need picks/assets to turn it around quick like you know they will be trying to. And to the point that the sixers have a mess in the front court with Noel, Embiid, Okafor, Saric coming this year and Ben simmons. So everybody knows the sixers need to flip one of the bigs for shooting/back court help. Ingram fits the scoring/shooting and defensive need. So the lakers would know this and have a high price that a team like the sixers would possibly pay factoring in team need.

I think Okafor for #2 straight up is a fair deal.

If both teams feel that they stand to improve by making that trade then squabbling over particulars that would prevent it getting done is only counterproductive.

If theres no other deals that result in either team improving by more than this straight swap, then might as well pull the trigger.

Im not giving up Okafor and potentially 3 picks for a guy Okafor is probably better than.  People are quick to forget how good Okafor is and I now see his name just tossed into trades to be rid of him because we have too many bigs.  This is what’s wrong with taking the best player available regardless of need – you end up then trading some of them for less value.  Jahlil played one year of college and while healthy, looked like one of the 5 best low post scorers in the NBA.  Not an easy thing to find

What the hell Hype.  I give you a plus one on your bashing Okafor post only to click a different post and find that you would trade the number 2 pick for him!??!

You guys are nuts.  If Lakers really valued Okafor like that they would have just taken him last year when they had the opportunity.

I wouldn’t even remotely consider Ingram or the number 2 pick for Okafor.  That is just insane.  Ingram and Simmons are both better prospects than Okafor and it’s not even close.  An antiquated big man who is absolutely terrible on defense for an almost 6’10" wing who can dribble shoot and pass??

You 76er fans are a different kind of nuts.

Honestly I think Ingram will be way better in the long run but since hes not yet proven at NBA level hes a bit riskier so theres a bit of a tradeoff there

i think lakers get paul george for number 2 pick and fillers.

I agree Noel and Okafor would have to go the opposite way or Embiid

I personally agree that Okafor for the #2 pick is a good/fair deal for the sixers given they need to unload a front court player and okafor has the most equal value. My guess is just that the lakers wouldnt do it but the sixers would. I like your thoughts though for sure.

You are dreaming. If the Lakers wanted okafor that bad wouldn’t they have just drafted him last year when they had the chance to. They already owe the sixers there pick next year more than likely. Why would they want to give them this year’s pick too? There is nothing on the sixers roster that would even remotely make me consider giving up that second pick. If the sixers want ingram that bad they are going to have to take him first over Simmons. There is no possible way they will get both.

I believe i said in the original post that this was a fantasy idea. Not something serious. I agree they past on Okafor but i also think they reached on Russell to look for that Curry factor in his game. I also believe they regret that decision if they had to make a choice today. Both players are still young but Okafor seems to be more of a sure thing right now then Russell.

I can’t say I have reasonably seen enough in one season for the Lakers to say they regret taking Russell over okafor. I still think that Russell was the player the sixers really wanted in last year’s draft and if the Lakers were to offer Russell for okafor in a straight up deal right now the sixers would gladly take it. If there is one player that both teams probably regret passing on its porzingis but he wasn’t realistically being considered to go that high anyway. I can say I’m still happy with our decision to take Russell.

Go ahead and ask me right now who I’d rather have going forward.  Okafor or Russell?  Go ahead ask….. okay I’ll just tell you.  It’s Russell leaked video and all.

This will be pretty obvious in about 7 months time when Russell has been playing in Luke’s system and not next to Kobe or with B Scott on the sidelines.

I agree with those non 76er homers above.  76ers can’t really put together a package that wouldn’t gut all of their prospects and would convince me to trade the number 2 pick at the same time.  If they want Ingram they will have to take him at 1…. which I still think is in play when Ben Simmons inevitably tries to force his way to the Lakers and steers himself clear of the 6 and 76ers.

trading the 1 pick with Simmons looking legit is not going to happen, trading the #2 pick is more than likely being the lakers want to win yesterday.

No way I give Okafor plus pick(s) for Ingram. Okafor for pick 2 is a pretty even deal, if anyone needs to add to the deal it’s the Lakers.
