FurledFriedMessParticipantDoes anybody know what the process of signing players who weren’t drafted is? I assume that they are all FA’s now, but can any team sign one of them right away? Is there a date at which they become available? Is it necessary to be under the cap? I know that the Kings were interested in Randle, and they have open spots on next year’s roster, so could they offer up a contract equal to that of the 60th pick and sign him right away? It seems like there were quite a few players who went undrafted who could find space on either Sacramento’s or Miami’s roster. Thanks in advance for any responses.

first off, there is no salary scale for all picks in the second round… so technically, they can sign them for anything…
as for when they can be signed… im not sure on the specifics, but im pretty sure itll start july 8th like the rest of the FA’s

FurledFriedMessParticipantThanks. I knew that there were differences in years and guarantees, but I was not aware that there is not a sliding scale for salaries in the 2nd round.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantThe “premier” undrafted free agents will probably get a training camp invite and some small guaranteed money. I think Jason Richards got some money out of Miami and then got hurt/cut shortly thereafter. Paul Harris got some money last year to go to camp with Utah last year. The deals are basically non-guaranteed deals for the league minimum with at best a team option for a second for the minimum for players with one year’s service time.
