marcusfizer21ParticipantThe New York Knicks are finalizing a deal to acquire Houston Rockets forward Tracy McGrady, an NBA source told SI.com.
The framework of the deal involves sending McGrady to New York for forward Jared Jeffries, guard Larry Hughes and forward Jordan Hill. The Knicks and Rockets have agreed to swap 2011 first round picks and the Knicks will send the Rockets their first round pick in 2012.
The only outstanding issues involve protection for the draft picks.
The deal could be completed as early as tomorrow.

chrislebronParticipantit would be a great deal for the knicks because they would get rid of the final year of the jeffries contract
this means more cap space for next yearthe bad is that they give up j.hill and first round picks(for one more time)
and if lebron, wade and bosh stay with their teams i dont think in the long run it could end up a good deal
maybe the knicks are confident that they could sign lebron and even bosh the summer with the additional cap spacewhat i want to say is that is a strategic move for the knicks and they dont care if mcgrady can play because they are out of the playoff picture and propably they wont resign him for next year unless he agrees a huge huge paycut

IndianaBasketballParticipantJordan Hill… The Knicks should be ashamed. They passed up on Jennings for Hill and are already giving up on him. What a shame.
I think Houston could’ve gotten something better for McGrady’s expiring contract. Regardless, I’ll be happy to see McGrady back on the court. He’s been in Chicago working out with Tim Grover since his spat with the Rockets and the reports are that he’s damn near 100%.

rtbtParticipantI completely agree with Tezo83, the Knicks should not give up on a guy who’s never been given an opportunity to play regularly. Not only that, he’s only half way through his rookie season and has shown flashes of talent when given a chance to play. And while I’m at it, Tracy McGrady could break down at any point in time.
On the other hand, earlier this week, the NY announcers said Jordan Hill already has a reputation for not working hard. Wow! If the TV announcers say that on the air, it makes me wonder if there isn’t a lot of truth to the allegation.

MagikKnickParticipantThats what im saying…
The Knicks have lost through that entire decade for giving up multiple draft picks…and here they are still doing it?This trade is all about capspace, but all the capspace in the world wouldnt guarantee a free agent…so in the end this could be one giant fail…
Well, ‘reports’ say the Rockets are deciding between the Knicks offer & the Bulls offer, & im hoping they go the other way…cause this trade could be detrimental to the future of the knicks..

IndianaBasketballParticipantWhat are the Bulls offerring for McGrady?
Hopefully the Knicks would be smart enough to top ten protect these draft picks they’re giving up.

marcusfizer21ParticipantSorta reminds me of the 2006 and 2007 Drafts where they idiotically gave up the 2nd and 9th pick respectively…

IndianaBasketballParticipantI’d be really surprise if Walsh didn’t protect these picks. They both should be lottery protected. It’s too much of a risk for New York to give up lottery picks when it’s no guarantee they’ll land the free-agents they want.
McGrady isn’t worth Hill, a top ten pick in 2009, and two future potential lottery picks in 2011 and 2012. McGrady probably won’t even be with the team in 2011 and 2012, yet they’ll still be giving up players for him… First round picks at that! Crazy.
