There has been talk that the Kings are looking at four prospects, Kawhi, Jimmer, Kemba, and Knight. However, by the seventh pick two or three of these players will be gone. So should the Kings look at possibly drafting Valanciunas? If they can not resign Dalembert, Cousins has shown that he can play the PF position if needed and if the others are gone Valanciunas could be the Kings best bet, letting them look at signing on a veteran SF and then looking to draft a SF next year.

You could see a lineup such as:

    PG: Tyreke

    SG: Thornton

    SF: Prince

    PF: Cousins

    C: Valanciunas

The Kings will be selecting Jimmer if Knight’s not there..The Maloofs feel Jimmer will be a great market draw for the team…

Teams worry about Jonas Valanciunas contract..So i dont expect to see him going in the top 10…Becuz he’s viewed as a project and unlike Rubio who many expect to be a star..Some gms with lottery picks, might not be willing to use a top 10 pick and have to wait a year or 2 or buy out someone that will not contribute right away…I expect Jonas to go to Houston,NewYork or Philly later in the draft…

^^ Val said at worst, he’ll be in the NBA after the 2011-2012 season, but he wants to come to the NBA now. He said his agent is working on his buyout right now, and if it;s at a reasonable price, I think he should go in the top 5. I think Cleveland should take him #4.

If you are drafting on upside and talent then I honestly think that Valanciunas will be off the board by 7. The Kings may look to strengthen at SF if they cannot find another backcourter to go with Evans and Beno but again there is a chance that both Vesley and Leonard may be gone by 7. Jimmer would be a good pick for them along with Kemba Walker as either could play alongside Evans longer term or be a perfect 6th man to give the bench scoring that teams often lack.

I know that to talk about guys being drafted high as bench players may be negative but when you consider the important role that say James Harden does for the Thunder then having a bench player who an play starters minutes is often underestimated nd can help a team develop long term.

When did Jonas Valanciunas become a better player than Jason Thompson? Also, if Sacramento does not re-sign Dalembert, they will have no problem signing another big man given how much money to spend. They aren’t going to turn their frontcourt over to the young guys.

The King’s also have Whiteside in development not sure they are conceding him as a bust yet. Would be stunned if they went JV.

Kings love Hassan, and have no reason to replace him yet. Especially when they are VERY high Jimmer right now and see him being a player in the same mold of Mike Bibby. When he was there.

Also, I believe they have Kawhi up there pretty high and have getting a 3 in this draft as a top priority, given that may be available in the early 2nd.

Kawhi if you are looking for upside picks and is still available would be a good pick up for the Kings as he’d give them the exterior defence to compliment the interior defence they potentially have in place.

I think Cousins is a 5, not a 4, so Val is of limited use.  They should target a 4, especially one who can spread the floor.  Marcus Morris, perhaps?
