I don’t doubt they will lose the majority of their games regardless but the prospect of adding Dennis Smith to their core seems like a no brainer. Process complete.

Encouraging tanking is basically doing the devils work in my opinion.

So no, their priority should be to stop being the worst team in history.

That title probably still belongs to the Clippers. Philly has a rich history and some championships. I don’t believe that they will have the worst record this year but if it comes down to getting a high pick for a needed position it wouldnt bother me if they threw some games late in the season.

The Brett Brown 76ers are the worst team in history. They won 10 games last season. And they will probably win 10 or fewer this season.

Fine me a team that has won 18% of their games for a 4-season period.

The only disclaimer you could make, is that the 1973 Philly team was worse, since they finished with a 73-9 record.

          @Hype Machine
Even with the last few years being in the crapper for the 76ers they’re still a borderline top 10 franchise of all time. Their overall win percentage is over 50%, currently ranked as the 11th best franchise in the NBA. Last years 76ers had the third worst winning % in a season, therefore they were not the worst team in NBA history, and definitely not the worst franchise.

          @Priest24
Clippers are no longer the worst franchise in history, due to their recent success the last few years they’ve slightly edged the Timberwolves and are 29th place among active teams.

No they shouldn’t intentionally lose, because they’ll lose most of their games anyway. They desperately need to pick up one of these guards in the draft, and they’ll have a very good shot to get Fultz, Smith Jr., Ball, or Fox, and maybe even Monk later in the lottery with the Lakers pick

They couldn’t win even if they tried.

Agreed. So no need to tank.  Just, let the process work itself out.  If Simmons returns at any point this season they will begin to win games.

Not at all…. That tanking has to be over. If there ever was a year for them to try to win every game possible while monitoring and resting Embiid every few games, this is the year. It’s so many good freshmen point guards in this draft that they can’t miss. You don’t know where you are going to end up in the lottery anyway until June, and it’s virtually impossible for them to come close to the playoffs this year.

They lack a Go to Guy late in games (namely because Embiid doesn’t get to play big minutes yet and his teammates struggle getting him the ball late)

So far we’ve lost 2 to 3 games in the last possession of the game, Gerald Henderson has missed several game winning/tying shots, if Ben Simmons were healthy he’d get us a better shot late in the game, I actually think they’ll be a suprising 2nd half of the season team whenever Ben gets back and we let Embiid/Okafor play closer to 28 minutes a game

For all the Process rants, we actually have a team that plays hard every night and we’ll legitimately have a shot to land a Top 5 pick in the Draft, haters be dammed, any team with a core of Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid and A top 5 Prospect in this draft has a shot to shock the world down the road (Simmons and Embiid are 5 star Prospects, championship teams are usually built around 5 star prospects)

Try at least keep games competitive would be a good start and develop talent as much as possible..

Personally this season I would focus on the following:

Build around Embiid and Simmons as we know they are the talent that are definitely keepers.

So what you can do this season is this build your bench unit: Which you have 3 pieces

Okafor,Ersan and Stauskas and try develop some chemistry with those 3 because all you then need is a pg and maybe either a pf/sf

I would also see how well the following big man rotations work:

Okafor and Embiid,Okafor and Sariic, Embiid and Sariic, just to see if Saric is a starter or a bench player.

Once you find out the answers to the above questions you try target the following in next years draft:

Firstly I would see if D’angello russell is available(would be a nice fit beside Ben Simmons) as can play on and off the ball. if he isn’t(Which I am guessing) then I would target the following players in the draft:

Markelle Futlz-Could be a C.J mcollum clone. Which could work very nicely with Ben Simmons

Frank Ntlikina-6-5 PG(could be nice off the bench with 2nd pick)  looks like he could be a mix of Dennis Schroder and Dante exum)

De arron fox -Same as Frank above but 6-4 pg.

I would also take a look at Josh Jackson to see if he is a Wiggins or Ben M type player(Ben M pass but Wiggins you have to give a look as you could play him at SG) and Dennis Smith(gets a look but the injury history and play style scream D-rose) so you would have to weigh pros and cons if you think his play style will make him have a bright but brief career or not…

It is interesting that Philly have put Saric to the bench, in the season previews he had almost been seen as the 5th frontcourter if everyone was fit and Simmons played more as a PF. But due to his form and injuries he started and did a solid job, now Ersan has taken over starting. I’d guess this may be because Brett Brown wants an experienced constant at PF with Okafor and Embiid swapping in and out playing limited time. Or is the plan for Simmons to play at PF and he’ll slot in there when fit and naturally start so Saric is being readied to be the 6th man from now on. Ersan is only on a deal to next summer so may well move on and is keeping Simmons berth warm for him.

I’d like to see Oak and Embeast started together to see if it would work at all, Oak plays C on offence and PF on Defence and Embiid vice versa.

This year Philly aren’t really much better than last season and have been badly hit by injuries again but we can see a potential star in Embiid and what his upside might be and we want to see Simmons playing so hope looks better.

As regards 2017 draft anyone not a frontcourter in the top 10 could be considered a legit target for Philly and as regards drafting another ball handler we need to see Simmons play first before we even consider that.

injuries definitely are hurting the 76ers and have been for years. They would be far more competitive if Ben Simmons, Nerlens Noel, and Jerryd Bayless were playing. Then it’s even worse having Joel Embiid and Jahlil Okafor on minutes restrictions. Considering how injuries are affecting the roster the 76ers aren’t doing terribly. They could have won an additional 3 games than they have. Regardless it looks like one more year in the lottery for the 76ers.

They need someone who can play with Ben. Their targets should be

    Tatum

    Bacon

    Fultz

    Jackson

But if they choose BPA then I see yall point for a PG

When Simmons returns & if they can move Noel or Okafor or both at the trade deadline I still think they win 25 games….

Nevertheless they are going to land a top 5 pick & as much as I am loving the Lakers start, it’s hard to imagine them making the playoffs in Walton’s first year. So they’ll get the Lakers pick too which could still be top 10

This year’s Draft is so deep….. I know it looks Ugly right now but in the NBA – more than Any other League – Top talent wins over the long haul & Phila & Minnesota are just gonna be loaded for the future

Tanking is disgusting, it’s the antithesis of what sports is all about. Rewarding teams that loose on purpose is ridiculous.

That being said, the Sixers should tank if they need to. It’s up to the NBA to change its shameful rules.

Listen, I hear all this talk about Fultz and aside from the fact that I’d take Ball and a couple other PGs over him, why is Josh Jackson not being talked about as their number 1 target. I get that he’s not a PG but this guy is a generational talent. His ability to score the basketball is ridiculous. With Simmons running the Point-Forward, all they’re gonna need out of the 1-position is a knockdown shooter and a good defender. Sort of a 3&D point. But someone like Josh Jackson comes around once a decade. Believe me.

If my team already had a Jackson clone, Id still take him ahead of these overrated PGs.
