ChrispyParticipantOkay, hear me out. First, Seth really showed out down the stretch for the Kings last year. Of course he is known as a shooter, but when called upon to play pure point he really did well, with some monster assist games. Secondly, the PG situation consists of the washed-up Devin Harris (a decent back-up, maybe), JJ Barrea (whom I love, but at a fake 6 feet and getting long in the tooth, who knows) and the ghost of Deron Williams. So, why not take a flyer with Curry? It is possibly the final year for Dirk and the Mavs are under no illusions of title contention. I say go for it and see what you have in Curry, who also was the steal of FA with a contract of 2 years for only 6 mIllion. Thoughts?
PS. NOT a Mavs fan (Knicks here), just a lover of all things hoops.

BleedGreen808ParticipantIf Deron Williams is healthy I’d expect him to be the starter. However, if the season isn’t going well I could see them taking a look at Curry starting. The Kings were foolish to let Curry walk in free agency especially when he only ended up signing for 2yr/6mil.

Jaymes BrownParticipantDevin Harris is underrated.

OhCanada-ParticipantDeron Williams is still a good and reliable PG when healthy that helps his team win games. Barea is one of those guys that as been counted out his whole career but continues to prove his doubters wrong. I expect Curry to be in the rotation and work his way into a prominent role. Having these two guys around to mentor could be great for him.

MatosParticipantKings collect Centers when they have Cousins, and let guards go without a fight. I was a huge fan of the Mitch Richmond days, then the Divac-Webber-Williams-Stojakovic days (then Bibby). Since then, the franchise has been letting me down.
Mavs are not yet in rebuild mode, although it would be wise to get their younger players some minutes. Looks like they’ll take this year to contend for a playoff spot and see if Barnes is the player they want to build their franchise around.

SlickBouncePassParticipantAre at a Premium in the League.
The Sixers are putting out Nick Stauskas and Hollis Thompson….trash, subtract the tr and h and add an s.
This guy was floating around the league before sacramento picked him up.
Also, whats the deal with Gary Neal? Is he signed? I thoguht he was a FA, but apparently 1 year with the Wizards left.
He was floating around the league like Seth Curry and even Jeremy Lin a few years ago.
I’d much rather have Lin, Curry, and Neal than the horrible guards we have right now.

MatosParticipantCurry would have been a great pick up for the Sixers. But Neal is more fit to go to a team with aspirations for a playoff push rather than a rebuild. Lin would be too, but the Nets are the sole team in the NBA which doesn’t fit into either of those categories because of the loss of picks.

SlickBouncePassParticipantagree on Neal being on a playoff team. I think GSW could use him off their bench because he is just a solid east coast guard. He is a really good option for the Sixers since they need some veteran guard play.
Lin I don’t think belongs on a playoff roster. Lin doesn’t really play in a system. He is a good scorer and makes the right play, but I don’t think he’s a fit on a SA or GSW. He needs minutes and needs to be ball dominant. I think he is smart enough to know when to feed the big men.
I think Delladova fits that role perfectly too. Philly could’ve used Delly.
Seth Curry deserved at least a workout he was aronud the D-league, its not like Philly has young up and coming guards. They need as much offensive help as they can get. All they need are savvy guards that control the pace of the game and can shoot.
I actually really like Sergio Rodriquez shot.
But yeah all i’m saying is…if Philly knew they had a need for guards, I just listed some floaters that could’ve helped this team from when two years ago (learning the system), to implementing it with smart play with the bigs.
Having dumb guards that suck, doesn’t do anything to help this team. Hollis Thompson ain’t running anything.
