The Magic have a huge hole at the PG position. For a while people have said they should replace Payton by drafting a PG but they elected not to. They recently traded Payton to the Suns and have been going with Mack and Augistine if Im not mistaken. They will be selecting 6th and should have the option to choose from Sexton, Young and Gilgeous-Alexander.

Jeff Weltman and John Hammond are homerun swingers in the draft famous for selecting Giannis Antetokounmpo while at Milwaukee. I think they will continue to stocckpile on length and potential until they land another homerun. This year has alot of bigs with length, athletisism and shooting.

I think they target Bamba or Jackson with the 6th pick and try to acquire a mid 1st round pick to select Anfernee Simons altough Brunson, Carr and Simpson are also good options.

I think their roster is such that they could draft basically anyone from any position.

I actually think grabbing Trae Young would be an awesome fit in Orlando. They were a far more competitive team with Augustin at PG and Young is no doubt more talented than him and I think this pick would mean bringing Gordon back would make a lot of sense as a pick’n’roll partner could be really nice.

Gordon, Young and Isaac give him something to build with at PG, SF & PF spots.

I think they would take Trae Young if he’s there, but I think if Atlanta trades Schroder, they would take Young at No. 3, and I also think a team like the Clippers could move up for Young.

I hope they pick Trae and just let him gun it. What could go wrong?

Best player available when you’re that bad.

What type of free agents do you think they can attract?

They can most likely attract the overpriced variety of free agents. Marginal to good talent who get paid more than they should for their production. I don’t imagine they can get anyone who will be a significant difference maker.

I think they should go after Isaiah Thomas. He is a difference maker, won’t win you a championship but will help win games and get the confidence levels of the young guys up. He obviously wants to start but won’t in LA while London is there.

He’s damaged goods, and not worth the headache over contract disputes of wanting a max deal also.

You clearly asked what free agents they can entice. My answer is a damaged goods point guard that isn’t worth the headache!

The magic have been in the lottery every year since 2013 and have very little to show for it. When they traded Dwight, the plan was to rebuild through the draft and the pieces they got in the deal. Let’s just say it hasn’t really worked. They traded away Oladipo and sabonis for basically half a season of serge ibaka. They traded Tobias Harris for virtually nothing. This has possibly been the worst run franchise in the league over the past 5 seasons.

The magic need a pg but more than anything they need an identity and a reason for fans to get excited to watch this team. Who knows how good he will ultimately be at the next level but he at least brings excitement which is something this franchise has been lacking for a long time. If he’s available at 6 I don’t think they will pass him up.

but he sure is a very talented player who can shoot and pass. He will also sell tickets.

At 6, one of the big might fall, and if JJJ or Bamba is available, it would be hard to let them go.

There will likely be a shake-up from spots 3 to 14 once the private workouts begin. Though I cannot see any other better opportunities for Trae Young than Orlando and Cleveland.

The situation with Aaron Gordon will likely be a key factor too.

Since there are no good PG’s available in Free agency I would go for Young at 6.

In the second round you could take a big in McCoy, Metu or Wiley with one and use the other on a back-up SG or a PF, maybe a Brown, Hutchinson or Allen with no real PF’s predicted in the second round unless Alize Johnson might be good enough.

I don’t follow the college basketball, so this is just based on positional need and the mock draft on this site.
