Jlv2012During the playoffs in a 7 game series, no.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantWhen the Knicks are rolling offensively, I think every team should be concerned.

ghrghrParticipantI think the last 2 seasons have proven that Melo and Stoudemire don’t work well together. The Knicks always do better when one of them isn’t on the court. With both of them their offense doesn’t flow and with only one of them they haven’t got the firepower to beat the Heat, so of course they can get hot and win one or 2 games, but the Heat should be able to defeat the Knicks in a playoff series.

goneParticipantThe knicks are better when Amare is off the court. Addition by subtraction.

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantDude the knicks got a squad for real. They gotta be my favorite team in the east right now. Tyson Chandler is a beast and is championship proven.
Behind Dwight he’s the best defensive center
MELO AINT SCARED OF NOBODY
lin/davis
smith/shumpert
melo/fields
amare/jefferies
tyson chandler
thats the best "team" when healthy imo.

UNCbasketballbumParticipantAnybody should be worred about playing the Knicks in the first round, especially if Novak and JR Smith are shooting the ball like they have been recently.

invalidParticipantthe knicks are confusing, if they had both melo and amare together they lose games. whenever both or one of them is playing they do better as a team

cabbycabParticipantSomething is definately not right when Carmelo and Amare are on the court together. Carmelo in particular, as great as he is, can not coexist with another star ( let alone superstar ). If I were a Knick fan, I would take my chances in the playoffs with Amare on the sidelines…..

Future_Scout boardyea. for the knicks, everyone that tries to shoot is better off the court…. is carmelo the problem? cus honestly they were playing good ball movement b4 he came back.
i also say this because, ny is like 7-2 (with lin, no melo) … 3-8 with both. last time i seen the stat… like 4 days ago

Ghost01ParticipantWorried? probably not. As a Bulls fan, am I happy we probably aren’t getting them round 1? DEFINITELY.

jeff416ParticipantIf it was a 1 game or even 3 game series, then yes the Heat should be very worried. But in a 7 games series, no they shouldn’t. They are the much better team overall. Unless one of there main players get injured, I dont see any scenario that the Knicks beat the Heat.

Future_Scout boardyea heat should be concerned with the knicks. every team should be concerned about who they’re playing.
a team like the knicks can catch on fire against mia.
amare vs. bosh: you know amare can take the matchup personal and go off cuss he said something like "i know im better than bosh. go ask him, and he will tell you the same thing"
melo vs lebron: it would be ignorant saying there is no way melo cant outplay lebron. they go at each other every time they play
wade vs lin: line could back back and while they wont be going at each other because i expect shumpert to take on defensive duties. they’re production can be compared. jeremy lin could put 15p-7a-3r while wade can go for 23p-4a-5r.
role players: knicks have tyson chandler, which was EXTREMELY effective against us in the finals last year. his length gives the heat problems with inside defensive presence and offensive glass. jr smith and baron davis are known for tearing it up against the heat. then novak catches on fire…
all in all, i take heat in 6, at most. but we def need to be careful against the knicks.

TruettParticipant… have so many supposed bball geniuses who write in this forum and no one has posited that D’antoni might be the problem. People in NYC were saying that all the time(in between blaiming everything else under the sun). I am not going to state that I know this for a fact, in fact this is complete conjecture, but I do know two things. 1. D’antoni did not want to make the trade that the knicks made for Carmelo (neither did walsh, that was all dolan). 2. The knicks sucked for most of the year except for Linsanity and once D’antoni go fired. Oh, I guess I know one more thing, no magic spells were cast or curses lifted during the season.
Here is my theory. D’antoni did not want the trade to happen, somehow Carmelo found out about D’antoni’s displeasure, that created a rift, and all the players sided with Carmelo (because face it, who would you side with?), D’antoni was fed up with the three years of BS that he had to swallow working for Dolan (culminating with Walsh’s ‘retirement’) so he didn’t do anything about it and lost the club house the knicks stop playing hard and start sucking. Woodson comes in and everyone plays hard because they are happy again.
If you look at the knicks season the only time they won consistently, or looked good, is during lin-sanity. We know that Jeremy Lin is pretty decent, but do you think that it was suddenly the departure of the two best players on the knicks that made them better (addition through subtraction theory [bs if you ask me]), or Jeremy Lin (fighting for a contract) that inspired his teammates to play hard again? I think it was the latter? Additionally, it all fell apart once Carmelo came back because the rift between the two (him and d’antoni) started up again.
In regards to amare: the Knicks will def play better if he is in for no other reason than their offense really sucks when Carmelo is out. We lost the second chicago game in the second when Carmelo went on the bench. As to how much better? that depends on his back, If he is close to 100 percent they could be really dangerous. I totally agree with the 1 v 3 v 7 game distinction and I dunno if they could beat Miami in 7 but they need Amare healthy in order to do so because we can’t rebound with Miami if he is not playing.

PulseGlazerParticipantThe Knicks played about as well as they possibly could in their last match up with the Heat and still lost. They can win a game or 2, but the series? No.

aamir543ParticipantAny team should be concerned about having to face Carmelo Anthony in the first round. I don’t kno how Amare will fare when he comes back, but when a team has both Melo, Stoudemire, and now shooters who can kill you from beyond the arc, they are a dangerous first round match, however I believe it will take some crazy games from Anthony or some amazing D by the Knicks to beat the Heat. The Heat MUST get out in the break if they want to win a tittle. They are a good defensive team, but no one can stop them if both Lebron and D-Wade are running in the fast break.

M-EazyParticipantIf Melo continues on his streak of completely killing teams, then hell yeah the Heat better be concerned.

omphalosParticipantIf there’s anyone in the Eastern Conference who can take Lebron out of his comfort zone, get him into a foul trouble and outplay him over the course of a series at the SF spot it’s Melo. Lebron has gotten more hype and has better numbers, but in head to head matchups Melo attacks him aggresively and is actually motivated to defend him.
Even if the Knicks get swept, I desperately want to see Melo vs Lebron in a seven-game series this season, let’s hope they maintain their current standings in the playoffs so they are match up in the first round.
