Shaq was measured 7’1 in 1992, when they didnt measure with shoes qua draftexpress.com’s database.  So hes basically a 7’2 C by todays standards. Wow. Truely a unique specimen.

Probably the best center prospect ever??

How tall is Andrew Drummond 6’10 at best? O how the mighty have fallen. To bad Odens knees blew up. He’s the only prospect "close" to shaqs physical ability.

    Bynum is bigger than Oden.

Depending on the shoes, Oden is damn near 7′ 1". 7′ 4.25" wingspan and 9′ 4" standing reach.

Bynum is close to the same height, but I don’t think he’s as long.

Either way, yes, Shaquille O’Neal is an incredibly rare and unique prospect. Their has not been another center like him since he was drafted, at least not with his same combination of size, strength, athleticism and overall dominance. Bynum and Oden are about the same size. This says Bynum has a 7’3 wingspan, but I seem to remember hearing he had an even longer wingspan than that.

With that being said, Bynum and Oden are both huge, both monster athletes when healthy. If they could ever stay healthy, they would be great centers. But, just because Andre Drummond or whoever else is not 7 feet, that does not mean they cannot be productive centers. Dwight Howard isn’t Shaq either, but he is still pretty awesome. Great centers have been the centerpiece of many a champion, but they are rare.

Still, even a half healthy Bynum was a key piece of two championship Lakers teams. While Drummond may "only be 6’10 or 6’11", he is still has a combination of size and speed that could make him a top center. People always talk about Tyson Chandler as not living up to being a second pick, and that may be (After all, Pau Gasol was the pick right afterwards. He played an even bigger role on the two championships than Bynum). Nonetheless, Chandler was another crucial piece to solidifying Dallas’ defense and was a recent starter on a championship team. Great big guys are rare, but if you have a good one, it really helps your chances on a competitive team.

Yeah, there have been several reports since, one coming from Mitch Kupchak and another from LAL trainer Gary Vitti, that say Bynum has a 7’6 wingspan. His vertical isn’t where it was between his first and 3rd years in the L though. Could be simply because of the fact that he has never fully gotten in back in shape.

Andre drummond is 6 11 and his wingspan is 7 ‘3 , i think he will be great , but shaq back in his college days was easily the best bigman prospect in the last 2 decades , he weighed 315 pounds but ran and jumped like a guard and was truly a freak of nature.
