KayjayParticipantShane was a key part in Heats success, him and Miller were doing what they were supposed to be doing all season long. Knocking down wide open shots. The championship was his reward. The Finals MVP was awarded to the man who had carried them up to that point. And had his imprint on every game. His name is LeBron James, and tonight is his night.

Memphis MadnessParticipantThe Hubie Ball Fraternity just had two more members win titles with Shane Battier and Mike Miller to go along with Pau Gasol and James Posey (twice), Jason Williams, and Brian Cardinal.
Two more ex-Grizzlies help the Miami Heat win a title. Wonder if they can rename the team the Memphis Heat or the Miami Grizzlies. Although there really was a minor league basketball team called the Memphis Heat for a couple of years back in the nineties.
… I am happy for Mike and Shane. Shane gave me his autograph once. Hope I can find it.

ConsiderableUpsideParticipantremember how hyped up he was in college? There was talk of him being the #1 overall pick. Jordan’s Wizards ended up with Kwame Brown of course, but I remember him really being in the running. I remember Barkley was urging Jordan to take Battier.

doubledribblerParticipantYou know that Lebron was like this close —> | | <— to be drafted by the Grizzlies. In short it was part of the Otis Thorpe trade awhile back with Detroit. Basically the pick was going to Memphis if Detroit had won the NBA lottery the year Lebron came out. Detroit of course ended up at number 2 and got to keep the pick, only to waste it on Darko.
I believe that team had every guy that you just mentioned on it. I definitely think if that had happened that Lebron probably would have had at least a couple of championships because that team already had the players in place. They had great coaching and were a playoff team. I would have argued that would have been a far better TEAM than anything he ended up playing with and everyone would have fit perfectly around him. I also believe he probably would have developed faster with a coach like Hubie.
