Now that Sharpe has joined Kentucky – https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/33109452/shaedon-sharpe-18-apply-2022-nba-draft-joining-kentucky-wildcats-january, does he adjust on the fly? Does he even play? If he enters his name in the draft, where would you rank him? Imo he could go as high as Jaden Ivy. Article says within the top 5. While I think that’s possible, I think his floor would probably be top 8ish.
Kentucky is a real tough team on a role. If he joins, would that mess with their chemistry in the wrong way? Or make them a title favorite? Anyways, just wondering what our expectations on Shaedon Sharpe are…

I doubt he plays at all a lot of money is riding on this kid. Personally as a Wildcats fan I’d rather keep the roster as is because he’d take minutes from Kellan Grady and Davion Mintz and both have been key pieces for the team this year. He’s definitely going no lower than 12 if he enters his name (I’m assuming he will)

Man Kentucky is a real tough team. This is one of the best Kentucky teams I’ve seen over the years. Not as much raw talent as the Wall Cousins Bledsoe or Davis MKG Teague teams but their chemistry is off the charts and it seems Calipari has actually found players to fit his roles. I was already considering if they are my favorite to win it all (aside from maybe Baylor) before him joining but now they get another perimeter scorer and tough shot maker. We will see how he adapts to playing at the next level but I’m sure it will be seamless. I’ve seen Shaedon make some very difficult shots.

As for his fit for the team thats difficult because Kellan Grady has played well recently although as a whole has been inconsistent throughout the year. Its a difficult role Sharpe will be asked to play. Make contested three’s and take shots at the end of the shotclock… I think collectively alot of guys will lose minutes but the seniors Mintz and Grady standout in particular.

Sharpe could go anywhere from 1st to late lottery. I think worst case scenario he has some inefficient games like Jaden Hardy and gets benched immediately. But even then he would still be a lottery talent. I don’t think theres a clearcut #1 in this draft. A good showing in March could have him competing for that spot.

Yeah, I haven’t seen him play a lot I admit, but from what I’ve seen, this kid really has a high floor/high ceiling kid that Kentucky can use. Even with the shooting they have, they can go small ball too. I know one can overreact to highlights, but this kid looks like the real deal. Good form on his shot, elite burst, he got game!

There are half a dozen SGs already in this site’s mock but a guy with this kid’s upside is a lottery lock and likely to go inside the top 10. I’d peg him in the 6 to 10 range at the moment. But with so many guys all the same position then the workouts will shake them up. Also March Madness will if guys match up.

As regards Sharpe he could be used from the bench if the starters are set for UK but he might elect not to play as that protects his draft position as if other guys match up they could well lose out. He then enters workouts and with his upside it only needs one front office to like him and he goes very high.
