valentineme and my friends laughed our azz of while watching the cleveland knicks game when serigo looked around while going in for a layup like a deer looking around when they are drinking water because of fear. so we gave him the new nickname “THE DEER”

McWinningParticipantI would be scared too if i was playing against Lebron.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/02/2010 - 6:30am #262031

IndianaBasketballParticipantAt least he was aware though… Players like Jason Richardson, OJ Mayo and many others just run to the rim and do regular layups like they haven’t seen LeBron’s chase down blocks on Sportscenter or the NBATV top ten.

quinceyhodgesif youre scared go to church. anyone that plays should kow you dont look around like that. you go up hard and if you can dunk you try to dunk. you can look at the coach and see on his face that he was thinking the same thing. THE DEER should have either not shot it or try to dunk it not jump in the air scared . id hate to be on some of ya’ll team who thinks thats the way you go in for a layup

McWinningParticipantI didnt see the play i only watched part of that game was it a breakaway or a halfcourt layup?
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/02/2010 - 6:40am #262039

IndianaBasketballParticipantI didn’t bother watching the game, so I don’t know for sure what he did lol.
I’m just saying though… It’d be crazy not to at least be aware of where LeBron is on the court… Especially if you’re 6′ 3″ 190 lbs and can’t jump over the rim. Too many players drive to the rim and shoot regular layups against the Cavs like they don’t know LeBron is coming.

quinceyhodgesif you watch it you will be like “are you serious”..it wasnt a look back like melo did when he dunked it and bron tried to block it. it was a straight scared move…you see that when you out playing pickup with guys who know how to play ball and the guy gets laughed at or subed out..lol..it looked like 9 guys out there who are ballers and then one new guy who plays once in a blue moon and isnt that good.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/02/2010 - 6:47am #262046
quinceyhodgesits one thing if you get blocked while going up like the other guys lebron blocked but the way he went up………i cant remember which guard it is but theres one or used to be one who would use his body perfectly so if someone tried to block it they would have to foul him in order to get it. i wanna say gary payton but that might not be right. damn i wish i would have thought of the deer nickname before my boy did
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/02/2010 - 7:25am #262066
McWinningParticipantI saw a highlight of the play it wasnt that bad he put a nice move on Mo and just thought Lebron was on the other side.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/02/2010 - 7:29am #262069
quinceyhodgesyeahhhh ok..i still havent found someone who plays ball who would have went up that scared or soft. a coupel of non ballers said they would though and that they would be scared…id hate to have those guys going to war with me. like a running back coming up to the goal line with a big line backer right there and he runs out of bounds because hes “scared” of what the linebacker will do. go hard..if he blocks it he blocks it. people can try to spin it anyway they want but it was a weak take
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/02/2010 - 7:31am #262072
McWinningParticipanthe had to separate from Moe bu pulling back and he thought Lebron was on the other side. If Lebron was on the other side like he thought it would’ve been a good play.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/02/2010 - 8:09am #262075
quinceyhodgeslol…soft…man there are so many excuses for this guy. even knicks fans on some other sites say that he went up scared and soft…hell you admited you would be scared too
has anyone ever heard a coach tell a guy to turn there head and look back when they are already int he air?..on the ground yes but already in the air take you’re eyes off the rim or white square and turn youre head?

MagikKnickParticipantLOST, FEAR? Where do you see these things?
I mean, i never said Sergio was the star some other guys said he was..but i didnt see fear or ‘lost’ on his face, i thought he was doing like a point guard was suppose to do, and looking to find another player running with him on the break…its been happening ever since he got here…
Whenever he gets steals, theres no other Knick player remotely close to him on the break, when he looks for the open man hes all by himself..
Not to mention, he had Lebrons thunderous footsteps trailing him…

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantQuincey, who are some of your favorite players?
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/02/2010 - 10:09am #262113
quinceyhodgesany baller knows you dont look around when youre int he air going for a layup..maybe youve never played before or maybe thats what you do when you go for a layup. but a player and coach will tell you when you are int he air with no one in front of you you focus on making that lay up not turning you head int he air. you do that before you jump. how often do you see guys jump in the air for a layup and turn there head like that?
fav player kobe. i dont have a bunch of favorites
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/02/2010 - 10:11am #262114
quinceyhodgesi see alot of people on here like him because of his speed and flash but none of that has lead to more wins or making anyoen else better nor better stats. hes still a back up at best and the worst starting pg in the nba. “the deer” wouldn’t be that bad of a back up though
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/02/2010 - 11:05am #262154
doubledribblerParticipantThere is nothing wrong with being aware, no matter if you are in the air or not. You really don’t want to waste a good scoring opportunity. Lebron isn’t the typical guy because not only is he 6’8 but he’s probably faster than the guy with the ball and he can jump high enough to block a shot even if you lay it up a little higher. You always go up hard, but Sergio going in hard vs. Lebron going in hard, Lebron is going to win 9 out of 10 times. Also if you are aware of the shot blocker you can adjust by using the rim to protect the ball. A smart player is going to give himself the best opportunity to make the right play.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/02/2010 - 11:08am #262156
quinceyhodgesyeahhh not gonna convince any real baller/coach to turn there hed while in the air. they may tell you they are gonna look before they jump and if they can dunk( which sergio can) they willtell you they are gonna go hard and dunk the ball. much easier to block a soft lay up then a hard dunk from behind
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/02/2010 - 11:10am #262157
quinceyhodgesfor the nonplayers i say try this. next time you are playing in a 5 on 5 game try going in for a lay up and when you jump turn youre head to the left or right and then try to make the lay up and see if theres a better chance for the defender to get that then going up hard. or go up alone and see if its alot harder to even make the layup
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/02/2010 - 11:19am #262164

JNixonParticipantI agree with Quincey. He should’ve went up strong and tried to dunk it. If you just go up and dunk it or at least shield the shotblocker using the rim/net, you have a much better chance of scoring than looking back while in mid-air.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/02/2010 - 11:21am #262166
quinceyhodgesi just went out side and tried to make a lay up while turning my head in mid air with no defender behind me. to all the young kids in hs and trying out for youre hs team i give you this advice….DO NOT EVER DO THAT IN TRYOUTS.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/02/2010 - 3:09pm #262278
bkballerParticipantnothing wrong with what he did, he knew Lebron was chasing him and was actually probably lookin for a teammate because we all know what Lebron can do, unfortunately ESPN is madly in love with Lebron and is going to spin this like he was shitting his pants.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/02/2010 - 3:47pm #262305
quinceyhodgesyeah you obviously havent played ball before.. you dont turn and look while youre in the air. any baller/coach knows that. many if sergio shot someone you would probably defend him with that too. cant admit that he ever does anything wrong. in this case he was wrong for doing that. it happens players make bad decisions from time to time. kobe does it too. and im not too much of a homer fan to admit when he does

knicks82ParticipantYou sure do love ripping on Sergio…You got something against Spaniards or what?

quinceyhodgesilove spanards. just dont like when peopel overhyp players..do you remeber when the trade first happened?..some of the post?..some of the excuses as to why he didnt play much at his first 2 teams? the talk about how now that he will start he will be putting up numbers like 15 and 8 because of the per48 thing and the coachs offense?..or how about the steve nash comparisions?..but yet im the hater for saying he would put up this same career numbers or a lil higher. yet when i turn out to be right its hating or excuses. what would you say if he played great?..would you tell the people praising him ” why you all over his nuts you in love with spanairds or something”…my thing is be real both ways. if someone plays well give them there ddue. if they dont be real and admit they arent as good as you thought and dont give millions of excuses to continue to try to prove youre right when you arent..the beginnin of the year i was all over cousins. when he startedto show he was better then i thought i gladly said i was wrong about him and praise what he did.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/02/2010 - 5:29pm #262351
McWinningParticipantIts 6 games…… no one said he was gonna be Steve Nash but if you watch the games you’ll notice the team isn’t used to his style of play. Hes only gonna get better his game is built around his teammates being on the same page as him. He excels on backdoor cuts, alley oops, and fast breaks, but the team is used to Duhons boring give the ball to Lee and then do nothing style. Hes the kindve player that needs time to build chemistry with him teammates to be good but no one ever said hes Steve Nash in my opinion hes be an average starter, good backup, and my mind hasn’t been changed. And by the if you go by his stats so far hes second in the league in steals per game. Not gonna happen….
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/02/2010 - 5:33pm #262352
quinceyhodgeshes a back up and there were some who said he could be as good as nash. a good player/starter can play in any system. this guys had had 3 different teams all with 3 different systems. the fact of the matter is hes a back up…its really that simples. jjust gotta deal with that reality. hes a back up player. on a real good team he might even be a 3rd strng. on the lakers hes behind both brown and fisher. on the magic hes being nelson and jwill…on the celtics hes behind nate and rondo. on the cavs hes behind mo and west or gibson. sorry but thats just the way it is. it doesnt get much easier to put up good stats then in a d’antonis offense
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/02/2010 - 5:36pm #262355
McWinningParticipantLol im still laughing at him being being Fisher. Maybe Brown………. I mean Fisher is a better shooter but Sergios better at everything else.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/02/2010 - 5:37pm #262356

JNixonParticipantActually someone did compare him to Steve Nash in a post lol
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/02/2010 - 5:38pm #262357
McWinningParticipantWhoever he is hes an idiot. (No offense).
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/02/2010 - 5:39pm #262358
quinceyhodgesnope sorry the only thing sergio has shown is flash..hes just not that good…thats the jest of it.. all that per48min stuff is pure garbae. he should be averaging what…13-14pts and 8ast according to the numbers he’s getting….i said it before and ill say it again.. all that per48 and per this or that doesnt mean anything because you dont know what someone will do with more time
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/02/2010 - 5:42pm #262359
McWinningParticipantJudging after 6 games doesnt mean anything if we did Jennings would be as good as Lebron.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/02/2010 - 5:47pm #262362
quinceyhodgesim judging off of his CAREER isnt that the best way to judge?..career… and THE DEER is a career back up…i now refer to him as the deer for now on..i will never say sergio..lol..or comet..since comet was a back up to prancer and dancer..lol
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/02/2010 - 6:18pm #262377
quinceyhodgesi love how bruce bowen showed the lebron block and the jason richardson miss dunk and said you dont look behind and worry about whats going on behind you go hard and attack the rim (not word for word)
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/02/2010 - 6:28pm #262381

butidonthavemoneyDerek Fisher may not be flashy, but he turns it on when his team needs him. The Lakers wouldn’t trade Fisher for Rodriguez.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/02/2010 - 6:38pm #262385
McWinningParticipantMaybe thats why Bowen sucked on offense.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 03/03/2010 - 5:25am #262471
quinceyhodgesyou know whats funny…bowen isnt even known for offense but his career average is 6ppg…
THE DEER/COMET’S average is 4ppg. so if bowen sucks on offense what does that say about THE DEER..lol…whats below sucks? and bowen is a great defender while THE DEER cant even check a yes or no box on a questionaire0 - Posted on: Wed, 03/03/2010 - 5:41am #262480
McWinningParticipantLol you have on idea what your saying Sergio shouldve played overseas a couple years more he just wasnt ready at 19. Bowen played 4 year in college and had worse numbers his first 4 years.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 03/03/2010 - 5:42am #262481
quinceyhodgesthe deer sucks worst starter in the nba. on one of the worst teams..hes done NOTHINGA IN THE NBA. id take just about every rookie pg over him.
