I know it’s too early to asses K Love’s underproduction since coming to the Cavs but he is averaging career lows in just about every category. I say it’s too early because at first  Chris Bosh struggled in Miami as the third option but ultimetly came out of that situation as a better player.

The Difference in these two situations is that Chris Bosh had much more room for growth. There wasn’t much depth behind him and the "aging" and unhealthy D-Wade often left Bosh as the second option on the team.

After the Dion Waiters trade its pretty clear that the Cavs are willing to "fix it now" via trades..K Love is a great player who just doesnt fit in , 1 beacause he needs the ball to really effect the game at a high level and 2 because the Cavs can get his production from a player who is not as good but defensive minded and wont command the ball. Serge Ibaka..Iblocka’s  stats have taken a slight dip in Pts and Rebounds but as of this season he’s broken out the TRE ball. The shot blocking forward attempts 3.6 3pt attempts per outing.. hes shooting 40%! precent if you compare that to a measly .7 attempts from 3 year hes pretty much been shooting the lights out in powerforward terms not to mention he’s top 5 in the league in points off catch in shoot.

How would both teams benifit? David Blatt now has more energetic player on defense, a proven shot blocker one who’s jumpshot is gaining range fast. Thunder also throws in Kendrick Perkins who’s been coming off the bench and could provide some extra support for that Cavs frontline. Okc gets Kevin Love who would fit in because the Thunder need that third guy who they can dump it off too in the post or at the 3pt line. They’ve actually haven’t had that since the James Harden trade(Kevin Martin to some extent). Again maybe the Thunder take a small hit in terms of defense and on the glass but I would have that team ranked as a top 2 offense in the league. Kevin Love also isn’t a bad defender.

    Trade:

    Okc gets: K Love F/C + Brendan Haywood C

Cavs get: Serge The Protector Ibaka + Kendrick Perkins.

I don’t think going to a team with Westbrook, Durant and Waiters is going to help with that…

The Cavs just added a big defender down low (Mozghov) and on the perimeter (Shumpert), lets see how this team gels together before declaring Love a failure with the Cavs and trading him away

Yeah, love does not fit the role of third option. As a twolves fan I am glad we traded him there since we got wiggins, but he doesn’t fit. He had like 4 assists a game last year. He would be a good fit with a team like the wizards where he would be their first or second option and have the team play through him more often. He doesn’t play defense well enough to have him on the court when he isn’t touching the ball consistantly on offense.

Kevin Love to Golden State might STILL be a decent trade.

Cavs would send Kevin Love and Brendan Haywood to the Warriors for David Lee, Mo Speights, and Brandon Rush.

The Cavs get two inside scorers and rebounders to help off the bench, or in bigger lineups with LeBron at the 3.  Rush then gives them some depth on the wing.  He could even start at the 2, some.

The Warriors get a better third option in Kevin Love and they still have Barnes, Iggy, and Draymond at the forward spots with Bogut, Ezeli, and a newly acquired Brendan Haywood at center.

The trade would also free up some extra cash for the Warriors to go after Jermaine O’Neal, Ray Allen, or some other guy.  It would also free up some minutes for James McAdoo woh can give them some athleticism and defense at the 4 spot.

A package of Morris Bros, Plumlee, Bledsoe OR Thomas, and Top 10 draft pick could buy the Suns some Love.  Way better package to consider….

Kevin Love to the Knicks for Carmelo would be a great trade in terms of value for both sides.

LeBron and Carmelo could play either forward spot. Then Carmelo is a better post scorer and mid-range scorer than Love.  So he would actually be a better all around floor spacer and he is still a solid rebounder.

The Knicks get a franchise superstar and a guy that I think Phil Jackson can work with.  He would also be cheaper than Carmelo.

to get this deal done, the Cavs would probably have to send out some more salary. If I were the Knicks I would ask for Joe Harris and either Haywood or James Jones.  The Knicks should also ask for a couple of second round picks.

I don’t mind the trade idea in principal, I think it’s an interesting concept that would alter both teams in a significant way. But ultimately it would be the Thunder would pause the most for this move. OKC’s problem isn’t scoring- they can put up 100+ points on any given night. For them to lose a shot blocker and versatile defender in Ibaka would set them back. But I do think that it would give the Cavs an interesting piece that could help with continuity.
