    Alabama:

JaMychal Green- Long and athletic 6’9 PF with a skinny frame…Can post or face-up but his back to basket game is very raw…Energetic shot-blocker who needs strength to improve…Lacks polish

Tony Mitchell- 6’6 195 SF with good athleticism and length…Can make plays at the rim and in the passing lanes on D…Alright on-ball defender, who has the ability to be very good…Mediocre jump shot…Not a shot-creator…Long term prospect

    Arkansas:

Marshaun Powell- A good athlete as a 6’7 225 PF…Long armsHad a good freshman season for a bad Arkansas team…Plays with a motor…Has good touch…Not skilled or talented offensively really…Solid blocking shots…Old for his class…Mediocre rebounder…Just like the rest of his teammates, below average D

    Florida:

Kenny Boynton- 6’2 volume shooter does have a strong jumper, but he’s not a PG at all and teams will want him to show that he can be a PG at least in spurts…Surprisingly plays solid D most times…Plays with high confidence, which is a gift and a curse…Pretty inefficient as a shooter from behind the arc in both of his years in Gainesville, but shoot a bunch of them anyway…Only decent athleticism and handles…Selfish…Style of play doesn’t translate seamlessly to the NBA

Brad Beal- 6’4 Fr. SG with decent length and a promising build…Sharp shooter…Very deep range…Likes to operate from the 3-point line and mid-range most…Looks good coming off of screens…Alright on D…Decent athlete…Ball-handling needs work…Not much of a playmaker for others…Won’t create his own shots that much

Patric Young- A supremely athletic guy with long arms at 6’8…Very strong…Explosive finisher…Very active and aggressive…Not afraid of contact…Good rebounding ability…Hard working defender…Not very skilled offensively…Not a guy you really want to run offense through alot…Foul prone…Fan favorite in Gainesville…UF will need major growth and improvement from Young as a Soph., this year will be important for him as a prospect

Erving Walker- Waterbug 5’6 150 PG…Very quick as you’d expect…Decent shooting skills (streaky though) and possesses NBA range…Likes to score more than distribute…Has the runners and floaters he’ll need to be effective in the paint at this size, although he’s streaky with them…Struggles on D with his size, although he’s kind of feisty most times…Will never be efficient at his size around the rim…Will earn looks in the Summer Leagues and such after this year likely

Mike Rosario- A 6’1 Jr. Who sat out after transferring from Rutgers…Quick and aggressive combo guard with a score first mentality…Has shot-making skills…Nice handles and pure talent…Good athlete…Good shot…Not a PG really and won’t pass the ball that much…Will take alot of bad shots…Bad D…Can play wild…Has been hyped as a guy who could lead the SEC in scoring next year by those close to the program

    Georgia:

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope- A 6’6 190 SG who has the frame to really look like an NBA SG with added weight…Sweet jump shot is his definite calling card…Outstanding range…Can shoot rhythm jumpers off the dribble too…Looks good coming off screens…Decent athleticism…Should improve his ball-handling, to better create his own shots…Shoots the 3-ball alot, and settles alot…Should look to add strength…His scoring potential gives him intrigue as a prospect

Gerald Robinson Jr.- A thin 6’0 combo guard…Likes to attack the basket…Aggressive scoring mentality…Can put up points in bunches…Has shot-making instincts and can make difficult attempts at times…Good quickness…Flashes nice drive and dish skills…Pretty small…Will take bad shots…Not a real PG, and functioned almost exclusively as a 6’0 off-guard beside Dustin Ware last year…Gambler on D…Fringe prospect who will get whatever looks he garners due to his quick-striking scoring ability

    Kentucky:

Terrence Jones- 6’8 230 combo forward has some nice mismatch ability…Good athleticism…Pretty talented…Can hit the college 3…Likes to score…Willing to get on the glass…Decent ball-handler…Needs to improve on D…A little bit selfish…Not big enough to post PF’s, but not quite good enough from the perimeter to play exclusively at SF, so he should look to add polish in both areas…Hit the freshman wall last year because of his lack of polish, despite his undeniable talent…Good upside though…Has a Marvin Williams meets Jeff Green type of game…Likely lotto guy in 2012

Marquis Teague- Highly explosive incoming Fr. Guard from Naptown…Younger brother of Atlanta Hawks guard Jeff Teague…Quite talented scorer…Big-time explosiveness and athleticism…Has that same ridiculous 1st step his brother has…Relentless attacker of the rim…Pretty strong already…Will make a living at the foul line…Great pick and roll player…Supreme confidence…Competitive…Perfect for the dribble-drive offense…Not a pure PG, and shows just OK court vision…Pretty shaky jump shooter…Can get out of control…Needs to improve as a decision maker both passing and in shot selection…Will likely be a top 10 pick barring surprise…

Anthony Davis- A 6’10 220 Fr. late bloomer with big upside as a PF…Very good athleticism…Extremely long (7’4 wingspan)…Able to do alot of things on the floor…Will be an immediate shot-blocking presence…Has good handle and passing skills for a guy his size, due to him being a guard before his 7-inch growth spurt…Pretty unselfish…Good rebounder…Has a soft touch, and potential as a shooter and finisher because of it…Needs to add weight and strength, and is still clearly growing into his body…Not very polished right now on either end…SEC play will tell ALOT about where he is as a prospect, given the physicality and advanced scouting for conference play in this league…Not a consistent post-up player due to his lack of strength, and not a good enough face-up player yet to hang his hat on that either…Not as aggressive as a typical top-tier recruit…Will definitely need time to grow physically and in terms of his game…Top-5 pick when he declares more than likely, but is getting early hype as the #1 pick for the 2012 draft

Michael Gilchrist- A long 6’7 225 Fr. SF with great length…Looks like an NBA wing already…Known for his excellent blend of great athleticism and big-time competitiveness…High motor player who plays with toughness and the hustler’s mentality that most guys who’ve been as highly touted as he has don’t possesses nearly as consistently…Great defender…Rebounds well from the wing…Can handle the ball and pass well…Point-forward skills…Not a pure scorer, but effective nonetheless…Doesn’t need the ball to be effective…Shaky jump shot…Very good prospect, who probably will be an elite role player in the NBA in time…Scottie Pippen comparisons are pretty legit IMO

Kyle Wiltjer- 6’8 225 Fr. PF…Often the forgotten man in Kentucky’s star-strapped 2011 class, Wiltjer is a good prospect in his own right…Can the ability to face-up and hit the deep ball and post-up and score some down low…Sweet shot with NBA range already…Pick and pop threat…Mature post game down low already…Can score over both shoulders, has sound feet, and has a very good right-hand jump hook…Passes the ball well…Lacks athleticism…Will struggle on D…Sleeper prospect, but probably for the 2013 or 2014

Darius Miller- A nice sized wing at 6’6 220…Can shoot the ball from deep and mid range…Decent athlete…Never has been a featured player for Kentucky, but still does have some NBA upside

    Miss. State:

Dee Bost- A 6’2 PG with great athleticism, quickness and an aggressive mentality…Can create for himself and others…Good shot…Looks great in transition and in the drive and dish…Not necessarily a sound decision maker all the time…Plays too wild quite a bit…Not very strong…Dribbles too much oftentimes…Should improve on D…He plays like a poor mans Brandon Jennings…Will be an interesting prospect in 2012

Renardo Sidney- Big-bodied big man who can score and be a decent rebounder, similar to the way a guy like Zach Randolph can…Can face up or post…Likes to face up more than post though right now, which is problematic in some ways…Did post up alot more for MSU though…Dribbles the ball well for a 6’9 265 lb guy…Good passer when he decides to do so…Doesn’t decide to do so often…Needs to tone up his body and get in ideal conditioning…Also an incredibly nonchalant defender…Legit character and work ethic concerns

Rodney Hood- A long, skinny 6’8 195 wing…Sweet shooting stroke…Can stick pull-up jumpers as well as just about any player in the Fr. class…Deep range…Pretty good athlete…Needs more weight and strength to deal with the SEC’s physicality…Poor ball-handler…Not much of a defender…Long term upside

Arnett Moultrie- A long 6’10 230 PF who transferred in from UTEP…Very good athlete…Has a promising face-up game for a guard his size…Has (shaky) range out to the college 3…Could be a matchup ploy at the PF spot…Needs polish in his game…Not consistent and will disappear if he’s not highly involved in the offense…Too rough around the edges to truly have the ball alot though…Low basketball IQ…Not especially tough…Intrigue makes him a 2012 or 2013 prospect

    Ole Miss:

Dundrecous Nelson- SLEEPER prospect…Very athletic and explosive combo guard…Likes to score, and shows promise doing it…Nice jump shot…Can drive the lane well…Capable of playing above the rim despite his lack of height…Pretty short at 5’11…A scorer more than a PG…Had a – A:TO last year (1.4/1:6) which HAS to improve…Had to adjust to the SEC physically last year…Will have the keys to the offense with Chris Warren graduated, and should put up good numbers

Jelan Kendrick- A smooth, long 6’6 wing rFr. with upside…Fine mid-range game…Solid athlete…Plays an unorthodox, yet mature game offensively…Pretty good scorer…Will need time to adjust to the SEC…Needs to get stronger…Not a devoted defender…Definite character concerns

    Vanderbilt:

Jeff Taylor- Elite athleticism and promising defensive ability…Great size and strength at 6’7 210…Can score around the rim and in transition…Improved his jump shot, and even though he’s still not a very good shooter he’s a bit more confident than he used to be…Willing rebounder…Unselfish passer…Ball-handling is poor…Cant create for himself much…Ball slows him down…Iffy touch…Still, he’s a projected 1st round prospect by many because of his D and athleticism

John Jenkins- Jump shot is cash, arguably the best shooter in the college game…Able to shoot in many ways, although he’s best spotting up…Has OK size for a SG at 6’4 210…Can score from mid-range and beyond the arc…Improving ball-handler…Mediocre on D…Favorite to be the SEC scoring champ…Likely 2012 prospect

Festus Ezeli- A physically gifted C prospect who improved a good deal for Vandy last year…Brute strength…Has the ability to seal down low and will fight for position…Shot-blocking presence…Uses a basic jump hook around the rim…Not a great rebounder for a guy his size and who plays how he does…Very foul prone…Turnover prone, and not a good or willing passer…No face-up game…Struggles with the double team…Improvements last year make him interesting, but he still has a long way to go to be a truly quality prospect

    Eeeeewwwww I forgot him!

Doron Lamb: A 6’4 SG…Nice jump shooter…Pretty good range and can hit pull-up shots too…Can come off screens, shoot in transition or spot up…Not a great shot-creator…Doesn’t pass the ball much…Pretty average athleticism and physical tools…Mediocre defender…A bit one-dimensional…

No way Rosario leads sec in scoring, with Walker and Boyton coming back, plus the addition of Brad Beal. Rosario has bad shot-selection. He will shoot whatever he touches. He may have gain some discipline this past year, but if not he will be a player that fades out. He was a huge disappointment at Rutgers.

Rosario is a good player. It will be interesting to see if he is about numbers or winning. Rutgers system used to be chaos and he needed to score for them.

I hate UK but cant lie, Lamb is a baller and I think you are sleeping on him a bit Jorrye. I see him as a potential starter in the league.

I like Taylor alot from Vandy too. And Sydney if he grows up a bit, he is a top 10 type pure talent to me.

I think he’s a basic spot-up jump shooter in the NBA. Nothing else about his game stands out besides his ability to hit open jump shots.

I’m not a Terrence Jones fan. He was very aggressive in the Maui Invitational, but as teams started to scout him, he really came down to earth.

He’s OK athletically, but he doesn’t look very fluid to me. He has mediocre handles for a perimter player, no right hand, and doesn’t have a great 1st step, and doesn’t have the post skills to play the 4 full-time. He’s a tweener in the worst way. And his jumpshot is VERY streaky. In the NCAA Tournament, he basically replicated LeBron’s Finals performance. He didn’t have any confidence, and he didn’t really have an impact.

    I just don’t see it.

Jorrye, I agree 100% with your Doron Lamb assessment. He scored most of his points this year on spot up jumpers. Once again good job, I’m glad you included Dee Bost and Tony Mitchell who are two of my sleepers

O and I have a question, are you going to be doing a write up for mid-majors in general or just some of the better non BCS conferences like C-USA and then some good players from bad conferences.

New’s flash to people. Lamb and Jones were only FRESHMEN. Not all freshmen dominate in year one. This is basically like back in the day when freshmen played well but had alot of holes but by the next year or year after they were much better. both players will get better and add more to their game.

Ben Gordon is approx the same size & I see know problem with him playing off the ball in the NBA. Only problem is Boynton jacks too much from the 3, he doesn’t have nothing else to show like he did in HS.

Brad Beal- 6’4 Fr. Prospect all day with the offseason buzz he has created. Rated ahead of Rivers in Mocks speaks high volumes.

High praises from Parsons as the projected scoring leader of the SEC, but if Beal is the focal point in this system, he will not be a prospect this year. Why come out when you have another year of eligibility to be the man. Let Beal get his & get out your way.

He has the heart and drive, but not the arsenal of DWag. Wag could get to the rim, pull from deep, and get to the line. Boynton will look for his shot no doubt!!

"Ben Gordon is approx the same size & I see know problem with him playing off the ball in the NBA. Only problem is Boynton jacks too much from the 3, he doesn’t have nothing else to show like he did in HS."

Ben Gordon was a better athlete, a good bit stronger, a much more efficient shooter/scorer, and he has always had better shot selection than Kenny Boynton. There is no legit comparison between the 2. 6’1 or 6’2 guards who repeatedly shoot and miss, take horrible shots, are mediocre athletically and physically, and then make 2 or 3 straight shots are a dime a dozen.

"Prospect all day with the offseason buzz he has created. Rated ahead of Rivers in Mocks speaks high volumes"

Speaks volumes about how you shouldn’t pay attention to mock drafts before a season starts. Especially a season 4 months away. Soooo much can change after the season, wouldn’t you say? Josh Selby was reated above Harrison Barnes, Perry Jones and Terrence Jones but he was UTTERLY mediocre as a Fr. selected in the late 2nd round. Avery Bradley is nailed to the bench in Boston, who needs a backup PG, and he was rated ahead of John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins by some. It won’t matter how he looks 5 months before the season on draft night, or even Florida’s 1st game.

"He is no Isaiah Thomas! If Thomas was Mr. Irrelevant, what will Walker’s ceiling be……Europe/D-League?"

Probably. He’s a 5’6 scoring guard at the end of the day. But that doesn’t mean he’s not going to get any NBA interest.

"High praises from Parsons as the projected scoring leader of the SEC, but if Beal is the focal point in this system, he will not be a prospect this year. Why come out when you have another year of eligibility to be the man. Let Beal get his & get out your way."

I’m not even sure Beal will be the focal point of the system. They have 4 guards and I don’t think any of their guards will be much more of a focal point than the other guard really. Beal is a Fr. who doesn’t create his own shots well and will have to adjust, Boynton shoots and misses more than he shoots and makes, Walker is a guard who will score and distribute as the PG, and Rosario will look to score aggressively. All of them have defined strengths and weaknesses and none are head and shoulders better than the another.

"Boynton will look for his shot no doubt!!"

And that’s why I see Juanny all day with him!

Jorrye, I’ve seen you compare Beal to Jordan Crawford before, but I don’t like that comparison. I haven’t really seen Beal play a whole lot, except for the All-Star games. By going off your scouting report of Beal, they’re two completely different players.

I’ve a Wizards fan, so I watched a lot of Crawford last year. He’s a much better ball-handler and passer than Beal, and is better at creating his own shot. He’s also probably more athletic. Beal is a better shooter though.

Beal has developed more since I watched Beal as a Jr. I made the comparison to Crawford during the summer before his Sr. year. Beal has gotten bigger and better. I don’t have a comparison right now because he’s probably going to continue to grow some more, but I agree and think he’s a different player than Crawford right now.

I used Gordon as an example because he is a 6’2” SG that has lasted. I don’t think they play anything alike that is not my comparison. Boynton has that Dajuan Wagner "mentality" score! score! score! = 3! 3! 3! That’s why I see Juanny in him.

It’s really hard to not pay attention to mocks especially when that’s how we know who is on the radar or rise. I’m not saying Beal will end up as the #1 SG come season’s end.

Someone other then Walker will have to be the go to guy amongst the guards. Boynton may still try to hold it down since he has been there longer then Beal & Rosario. I just don’t see Beal not getting his, hell I don’t see no one between Boynton, Beal, Rosario not getting their’s.

Scottie Wilbekin will get some playing time too in that crowded Florida backcourt.

He’s bigger and more physically gifted really. That’s the only real difference to me. And Marquis is probably a little bit better as a natural PG.

He will, but he’s still terrible. He might play around 10 minutes, but he’s not going to factor much at all. He only played last year as a walk-on because Florida had no backcourt depth.

He’s not as explosive as Wagner though. Kenny Boynton has a ways to go in terms of how to unselfishly play basketball before he can be an NBA player, and he also has to understand that he’s a 6’1 or 6’2 SG, which already puts him down hill. He’s not DaJuan Wagner, Ben Gordon, none of those guys. Ben Gordon lasted in the NBA because he could score efficiently for an NCAA title team, and he had NBA caliber athleticism and strength too.

"It’s really hard to not pay attention to mocks especially when that’s how we know who is on the radar or rise. I’m not saying Beal will end up as the #1 SG come season’s end."

It shouldn’t be hard. How much have mocks changed from the offseason to the draft? ALOT. There is no point in paying attention to a mock in July and basing a prospects rise and fall BEFORE HE PLAYS A GAME on a guesswork system like a mock draft. It’s stupid and pointless.

I don’t think thye’ll depend on Beal for that though. They will use a committee approach and probably often ride the hot hand. Beal isn’t so good that he can come in and be the guy UF runs offense through over guys who have played 2 and 3 years of high major college basketball. Just because he’s a highly thought of prospect out of HS doesn’t guarantee he will earn a higher % of the teams possessions, especially since he’s not a true shot-creator.

i wish rosario stayed at rutgers, mike rice seems like he is getting the players on the right track dane miller, mike rosario, and biruta would have been a nice trio plus recruits they brought in. Hopefully in a 2 years or so rutgers can make it to some kind of tourment hopefully ncaa tourment, but even nit would be a good start

Has been my favorite "BIG" to come out of the HS ranks in years! I really believe in his play, but not much so of his off the court actions. I see Z-Bo too as far as playing styles, but Z-Bo has matured mentally now that he is a proven vet. Sidney has nothing to gain as a NBA prospect right now.

STAY STAY STAY get your education to fall back on, because you have killed yourself out of 1st Round discussions all because you are a headcase. That’s the LEN ELMORE in me talking now.
