Just finished up watching Sonicsgate on Youtube, and it totally changed my perspective on the whole Sonics situation.

41 years of history, an NBA title and all of a sudden they vanished. Nothing against the Oklahoma fanbase, one of the rowdiest crowds in the NBA, but that team shouldn’t be there. Watching them rise up the Western Conference must be further salt in the wounds of Seattle fans.

If I had the ability I’d totally bring that team back to Seattle.

Anyone else feel the same way?

Yeah, totally saw it during the series against the Lakers, they’re deserving of a basketball team, but just not at the expense of another city. Should’ve been through expansion, but personally not seeing the Sonics in the NBA doesn’t feel right.

The whole situation stinks. OKC has a deserving fanbase but the team they were given was built to contend on the broken dreams of Seattle fans. It was the Seattle fanbase that sat back and fought a hopeless situation by supporting a team that was systematically gutted. Ray and Big Baby for Jeff Green and Richard for nothing. What we witnessed was the unsympathetic bullying by the evil hobbit Stern and his henchmen in deceit Schultz. The perfect little nexus of greed nd dishonesty at a corporate level. Clay Bennett is not the bad guy neither is the fanbase for OKC in its entirety. Blame Stern and Schultz, blame the terrible local politicians in Seattle who cowtow to the sorry baseball franchise. But the fans in both cities are blameless. As a Seattleite I loved hoop from the time I could remember. From Sikma to DJ to Wilkins to the Weedle on the Needle my first sporting memories were of my Sonics. There is an emptiness true, but not at the hands of OKC fans rather the businessmen and political creeps who in no way represent the greater populace.

I think the only team that should go to Seattle is the Thunder. The franchise history of that city is tied to that team, even though it’s got different names and colors. Even Gary Payton said he wants his jersey number retired in Seattle.

But now we’re on the topic of moving teams, I think the Clippers need to go back to San Diego. Living under the shadow of the Lakers, the definition of mediocrity in the NBA, I really don’t think a city needs 2 teams.

I don’t think the Grizzlies should go to Seattle, sure you could put them in Seattle colors and call them the SuperSonics, but is it really the same?

Best solution would be a new franchise with the old name.

They already have a new fanbase, they shouldn’t be moved back. The Grizzlies would be better, but as freddy79 said the best solution is for the team to use the old name.

seattle should hav a team. But no reason to suggest the thunder should move back. Its a whole new team there now and the okc fan base is very solid there.

Seattle got screwed, but the former owner shouldnt have sold the team to OKC investors right at the exact time the league was talking about what a great city OKC is for a new team. He screwed over seattle on that one even though he says he had no idea they would move the team.

It’s the new frontier, I think. Let’s talk about Oklahoma City: not the biggest town around, but they had no other big team there (no MLB, NFL, NHL). Same thing in San Antonio, Portland, Salt Lake City…

I’m really missing Seattle. I liked the city, the colours, the franchise. But Oklahoma City has a good fan base, who really gives his support to the team. I suppose that cities like Las Vegas (NV), without a big franchise, could be a destination for a new franchise, or for some transferring team.

2 team expansion, Seattle and Louisville. Louisville just got a new areana big enough to support an nba team and the state of kentucky is known for horses, bourbon, and basketball.
