dmo21ParticipantIt’s back again! The 6th Annual Season Picks Game! (crowd goes wild)
Same setup as past years. To put it simply, just copy and paste my next post and fill it in with your predictions. Basically, this is all you have to do:
– guess the end of year standings for both conferences (1-15)
– 3 guesses at each season award (order counts)
– 3 guesses at each main category leader (order counts)All picks have to be in before the season starts. The rules and scoring can be seen here: http://www.nbadraft.net/forum/season-picks
Last years picks and results can be seen at these links (if they work, I couldn’t even copy and paste them):
http://www.nbadraft.net/forum/season-picks-game-20172018-edition
http://www.nbadraft.net/forum/season-predictions-final-standings
We got about 2 weeks before the season starts. Once again, hopefully we get more users. I always expect more (especially when everyone makes their own "bold preditictions" and "playoff standings" posts. So don’t be scared and participate!

dmo21ParticipantDue to the Murray injury:
Swap San Antonio and Utah in the standings.
Take D.Murray out of MIP, bump up everyone and add D.Smith to the end.

dmo21ParticipantIt is nice to see a variance of candidates. However, the most surprising thing I’ve noticed so far is that only one person has chosen the Blazers to make the playoffs next year. Don’t tell Dame though. He always gets pissy about these things haha.

6MOY: Eric Gordon, Julius Randle, Kyle Kuzma
ROY: Luka Doncic, DeAndre Ayton, Trae Young
PPG: James Harden, Anthony Davis, Lebron James
RPG: Andre Drummond, DeAndre Jordan, Kevin Love
APG: Russell Westbrook, John Wall, Ben Simmons
BPG: Rudy Gobert, Anthony Davis, JaVale McGee
SPG: Victor Oladipo, Kris Dunn, Kawhi Leonard
Rankings, no remorse in the east, there’s only one PO spot available, 8th seed could be low(vintage 38 wins is enough) i’m betting on a few injuries for the sixers, they could go lower than 3rd, very disapointed in their offseason.
In the west as usual it’s a crapshoot, The spurs(champs memory is gone, Kawhi, green, tp, ginobili) injured players, i’d really like them to be a lotto team, but i can’t bet on it, they’re the frigging spurs,..
I’m probably overrating them but I’m high on the nuggz as a RS team, they can’t defend anybody, but they’ll often score 120 on you, they’ll own a lot of east coast teams, and their special homecourt advantage will be in full effect, IT is a huge x-factor for them tho(fully healthy he was a serious 6MOY candidate), they’ll be a better away team, imo they could win 53+ games and finish as high as 3rd, i’ll go 5th for them, 4 wins or not, you’re 5th or 9th in the west.
Lakers are supposed to win at least 46 games, i’d like them to be 3rd(fun PO matchups, last MVP well deserved for lebron) 6th is their ceiling personally, and they’re pretty lucky with the spurs-wolves situations.
Pelicans were a better team after Cousins injury, they lost their best passer, they added Randle to the mix, pretty injury prone team, thin backcourt, Davis will have to be a healthy MVP, a 30-12 DPOY to make it…
Wolves and the butler case, good luck to predict, 1st scorer, 2nd passer, best defender of their team, elite stealer, they were a 51 wins team with him, a 36 wins team without him last season, when is he traded, which return, they should pay the price, PO team for a 1 win last season.
Blazers are kinda in no man’s land, 1st round exit is their ceiling, good enough to make it, a bad injury or two and they’re 11th, maybe they’ll retool or rebuild at some point.
Mavs are supposed to be in the 11-12 range, but they could overachieve a bit, fails from other teams, and you’re a PO contender for most of the season, ala Clippers last season.
There must be money to be made if you’re betting on the mavs or Lakers as the 9th seed.
Awards. I tried some things, Kevin Love all star, former all nba player, nba champ, 2 time MIP haha, i know it won’t happen but he’ll really improve his numbers, played only 28 mins a game last season, 6+ mins, 4+ FGA, 2+ FTA, playing closer to the basket, no 9 assists 9 rebs SF, and you could have a nice 23-13-4 PF…in a losing team.
Kanter without Porzingis’s 19 FGA in a tanking knicks team will provide monster empty numbers.
Zeller without D12, maybe a 14-8, finishing 8th in the east could help his case. I could have gone the easy way, Murray, Ingram, Gordon becoming all star calibers in stats.
BPG, McGee was the best shot blocker per 48 mins last season, if he plays 25 minutes ish, small ball, lots of possessions, he could crack the 2 BPG…it’s sad but with 2 BPG, now you can be 3rd best in the nba.
SPG. Dunn is an elite thief, a vintage one, he’ll play more than 29 mins, so he’s a lock to me.
APG: easy, lebron, rondo, ball, harden, paul all annihilating themselves, Westbrook’s usage, Wall’s better supporting cast, Simmons responsabilities when you only have two 30 pts games as a 22yo generational superstar…
6MOY: Award should go to a player in a PO team,, Randle, Kuzma, a rocket between Melo and Gordon, an healthy IT helping their team to climb the ranks….Valanciunas will be huge for a 2nd seed raps team, he’d have to be qualified tho, same for redick. A 3rd seed Jae Crowder, an 8th seed Jordan Clarkson ?

r377ParticipantI didn’t see coach of the year ?

dmo21ParticipantI mainly stick with player awards. I also don’t feel that COY chooses good coaches most of the time, just the coach on the team that did better than expected.
Also, you were a bit late on your predictions, but I’ll let it slide this year. But if you win, there’s a definite asterisk by your name! haha
