AwrightAwrightAwrightParticipantI have no idea why this guy wasn’t drafted at all, but is being made to prove himself through Summer League instead. First half, and already 16 pts. on 60% FG. He’s clearly the best player on the court so far in this game, and hustlin’ too. He’s playing like a lottery talent because he’s clearly outplaying Trey Burke AND Dante Exum. In fact, he’s more like a NBA veteran out there on a vengeance mission. Hope the Sixers keep him and sign him soon. It’ll be a great loss if they lose him to someone else.

christebasParticipantI agree. I saw this guy in about 7 or 8 games his senior year and he’s a pure scorer who looks like he has NBA talent. Perhpas what’s holding him back is his age – 24. I believe he verbally said he wanted to play for Philly’s summer league team in Vegas, but I don’t think he ever signed, thus he’s still FA according to ESPN. He may be too old to be considered a prospect for the NBA, but I’d look out for him to land somewhere in Europe as he’s definately skilled enough offensively to catch on to a team overseas and make a nice living. Guys like Kilpatrick can spend 10 plus years playing in Europe making great money if they’re committed to it (although it’s hard to live so far away form everything you know). So many countries have their own leagues now and he’s clearly talented enough to catch on somewhere if he wanted too, though I’m not sure it’s the NBA. He could try the D-League but he’d make a ton of more dough in Europe.

christebasParticipantWell, coming out at age 24 makes things tough on a guy who’s going up against 19/20 year olds straight out of their freshman or sophmore year. My sense is he got passed over in the draft pirmarily because of his age. At 24, there’s not much upside left unfortunately or at least NBA teams can see his full potential and decided to pass. Why look down on Europe or even China or Turkey? A guy like Kilpatrick can make 750k or more per year if he’s able to prove himself overseas which I believe he has the skills to do. In addition to Spain, France, Italy, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Israel and Turkey, China’s leagues are growing extrememly fast. And, even within European countries, one country for example can have several leagues. I hope he catches on over-seas and plays out a nice career if the NBA doesn’t come calling. Playing in Europe is nothing to look down upon. It’s still the elite of the elite outside of America which is something to be proud of if the NBA is not your calling. 🙂

christebasParticipantMy mistake, it looks like Killpatrick is playing for Philly’s summer league team. He’s wearing number 50, though I’m not sure how much run he’s getting. But good news for him that at least he’s got a roster spot this summer to show his offensvie talents…. Here’s the link if you want to follow his games this summer… Don’t rule out Europe as an option if things don’t work out in the NBA!

christebasParticipantYes, I didn’t read your first post carefully, my apologies… that’s what happens after 9 shots of SoComfort. At least I got the right player. hehe

AwrightAwrightAwrightParticipantHim and Jordan Mcrae were literally a 2-man wrecking crew that won the game for us while the rest of the Sixers team played like total scrubs . They both clearly outplayed Burke and the overhyped Exum (who only had 10 pts). Hopefully, they’ll be able to similarly shut down Wiggins on Monday as well. Can’t wait to see that game.

christebasParticipantI could seriously see Kilpatrick playing along side MCW for serious minutes. If Kilpatrick made the roster as a combo guard and got PT, he’d by far be the best shooter on the team, hands down, no question about it. Philly probably has the worst shooting in the league. PS do you like Cincy?

AwrightAwrightAwrightParticipantYeah, I agree about Kilpatrick starting at the 2 and MCW at the 1. That would be a very good backcourt. Kilpatrick reminds me of a more athletic version, a rich man’s version of Jodie Meeks. Same size, same demeanor, plays the same position, but I feel Kilpatrick can do so much more than Meeks coz he has that chip on his shoulder attitude that Meeks didn’t have. Meeks was just too…..meek.
No, I hate to say I stopped being a fan of the Bearcats after the year that Nick van Exel and Corie Blount went pro. That team, oh boy….now, that team used to annihilate opponents by about 50 pts. Just exaggerating a little, but that’s just to emphasize how devastating they were.

christebasParticipantkool, i was there from 90-94 as a student, good times, especially basketball and a final 4 in 92 against the FAB 5. another final 8 in 93 aginst carolina lost in OT. Their press in 91-92 press was the best I’ve ever seen by far. as you said, they would totally annililate teams, sometimes after 10-15 minutes of PT. I couldn’t believe Van Exel fell to the second round, but he was a star for the Lakers/Denver/Dallas and Blount won a few titles I believe with the Bulls. Bob Huggins turned a crap team who hadn’t done squat for years into a contender. Until he left to go to KSU, the WVU he always was able to land big recruits, but Nicky Van Exel and Corie Blount were his first. Good memories…

AwrightAwrightAwrightParticipantThanks. Can’t believe you actually went there tho. Them, the Fab 5, and Kentucky with Jamal Mashburn were my favorite teams at the time. Each of them, along with Duke, would just be the creme of the crop of the ncaa league in itself. Nothing has been the same since. Miss those days.

christebasParticipantearly 90’s were great college basketball years. of course the fab 5, but UNLV with stacey augmon, LJ, Anderson Hunt, greg anthony, shaq, zo, Mutombo, penny hardaway, duke (Hill, Lattner), Shawn Bradely, kenny anderson, big dog, kidd… and most guys stayed at least 2 years if not longer. Even Shaq stayed for 3 years… was a different game back then i suppose

christebasParticipantMaybe after KG came successfully straight outta HS in 95, T-Mac in 97, the NCAA was screwed. then to Kobe and J O’Neal and college ball would forever be changed…. what did it bring us? Kwuame Brown, Robert Swift Eddie Curry and a host of others….
