It seems nobody is talking about the spaniard prospect and actually he’s not even listed in the Mock Draft even though he declared, which is absurd as this 20yo kid is one of the best players in the whole Draft and has Top 10 potential.
Aldama won in 2019 the under 18 European Championship with Spain and was named MVP of the tournament; after that even though he could have played in any college like Gonzaga for example, he decided to play in Loyola due to his commitment to studies, so he’s also a smart and responsible kid.. There he’s averaged 21pts/10rb/1St/1’7Bl/1’9 3PM/51% FG…
But the most special thing about him is that he’s a unicorn, a rare specie as he stands at 6’11 with 7’1-2 wingspan and plays F position being able both to protect the rim while shoothing with efficiency from deep. In fact, he’s the only player with K.Durant in NCAA history to average at least 20pts/10rb/+1 Blk/+1 3PM … not bad.. and actually he’s the only player in NCAA history to do it with a 50% FG…

This kid is absolutely gold for todays game, 6’11, long, fluid, coordinated, can put the ball in the floor, can shoot from everywhere with efficiency, can pass well enough, can rebound and can protect the rim.

Whoever gets this kid out of the lottery will get the absolute steal of the draft as he’s clearly a TOP 10 player.

Very skilled kid, he lacks strength. He’s definitely on nba radars, he received an invitation to the combine but turned it down. I think 🤔 that’s 1 of his weaknesses along with the level of competition in the Patriot League. But recently guys like Jeremy Lin & Yuta Wanabe have gone undrafted and found spots on nba rosters after having successful college careers playing in conferences not known for producing nba talent. There’s a slight chance he returns to school. .

I must correct as M.Beasley also had those type of numbers in college with a 50% FG… Beasley as K.Durant went Nº2 so still not a bad company..

Yeah if he doesn’t go in the 1st round its just further proof these guys have no clue what they are doing. He’s just so efficient with his scoring like a Corey KIspert or Filip Petrusev but he’s not a one trick pony. He competes everywhere and has the potential to be his teams best rebounder and shotblocker. I think he’s the perfect fit next to Zion Williamson in a smallball lineup and I’m not sure whoever they draft in the lottery would be a better pick. This draft is stacked.

Not so fast… I can agree the dude is an all around complete player at first glance, but the red flag is that he’s in the PATRIOT LEAGUE, which wasn’t the toughest league. That’s weaker competition. He was on the losing side of much more games than not. That should matter when you’re in a weaker mid major conference in the NCAA. And the fact he decided to not enter the combine I don’t think helped his stock. That’s kind of the big chance to go against others and see how you stack up… Not saying he can’t succeed, but I wouldn’t consider him until mid 2nd probably.

Well he played in that league because he decided to due to academics wich were as important to him as basketball, but Aldama is not a random european player, he’s the best european player of his generation and he proved it winning the U-18 Championship and MVP.. Aldama could have played for any college in the US but he chose his path and he’s done more than well enough to show his unique skills.. by the way, it is much easier to play with good teammates than bad ones…

Aldama is officially starting his pro career and will not return to Loyola. He might be well-served going the Petrusev route of finding a team (my guess would be Gran Canaria given the history) and going into next summer’s draft. It is hard to think a guy who never played a team outside the Patriot League in two years gets drafted, but there is a lot to like. A little more resume rebuilding might be worth the year.

To me he is a typical 2nd round to undrafted stretch big prospect nothing real special about him.

well that’s the thing about him, he’s not a “stretch big”, his natural position is SF and has always played outside…

I just don’t understand what more he would have to do other than play in a league like the ACC. The guy gets you blocks and rebounds at a very high rate has perimeter skills like a wing and height and length of a Center. How does this not scream NBA talent to people? Worst case scenerio he’s Davis Bertans but thats just his offensive game. He has a better handle and better athletisism and he can defend and rebound.
