Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantWe’ve heard talk of the Lakers, Heat, Celtics, Magic… I read somebody last night write "The Spurs are a championship level team?" In a sarcastic way. Well guess what? As far as I know, they still have their core from their championship years in Duncan, Ginobili, Parker. Jefferson has finally found his offense this season and 2nd year man DeJuan Blair is playing very well alongside Duncan. They have a deep bench that nobody talks about starting with George Hill and including Matt Bonner, James Anderson, Antonio McDyess, Gary Neal, Tiago Splitter.
This team has been playing very well and currently has an 11-1 record and they have played such teams as the Suns, Thunder, Rockets, Bulls, Jazz.
We can say the same about the Hornets as well.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI really like these Spurs. They’re the most quiet 11-1 in league history.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantYeah, just like every year, nobody talks about them. Like last year where they were completely dead and they shock the Dallas Mavericks in the first round.

stealsgaloreParticipantTheir backcourt looks absolutely rejuvinated, Parker and Ginobili are playing extremely well right now.
However I think the thing that has really put them back on a championship level is the play of Richard Jefferson. Last year he ruined the spacing for the Spurs with his inability to hit the 3 point shot.
This year he’s staying behind the 3 point line when he should ala Bruce Bowen. This opens up the lane for Parker and Ginobili, plus it makes it harder to double on Timmy or whoevers in the post.

fgrrghgParticipantjust not sure why you included them in that group of teams. But yeah they have looked real good. I don’t think they’d beat the lakers in a series right now, but if the lakers were to sustain a key injury or something im pretty sure id take the spurs as my 2nd choice in the west. Parker is killing it!

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantI think it’s simply the bench. With Tiago and McDyess on the bench, it adds size and with Bonner, he opens up the floor add the scoring ability of Hill, Anderson, and Neal and you have a very good bench.

stealsgaloreParticipantI agree with you TOL 23, the additions of Splitter, Neal and Anderson along with the solid play of Mcdeyess and Bonner and the continued development of Hill has made it a lot easier for Poppovich to rest people. Especially in the front court with Timmy.
