If I was Durant Im telling Westbrook I’m taking the shots under a minute left in the 4th quarter. Westbrook is a top 5 pg and the 2nd best player on the team. But did the Bulls win championships by giving Scottie Pippen the shots instead of Jordan. Durant is the best shooter in the NBA IMO. Westbrook was 12 for 30……….Scott Brooks needs to do some coaching in late game scenarios. i.e. "Russell don’t shoot the ball"

Yeah. Ironic that the next time Durant touched it he drilled a three.  Russ is notorious for hero mode.  Sometimes it works out… other times it makes his decision-making look horrible.

Westbrook 30 points on 30 shots. Durant 31 points on 18 shots.

Bad games happen but there has to be at least some concern about the direction the Westbrook / Durant dynamic is heading. Clearly, Russ feels he has some liberties with the offense that he should not have. Brooks has to control this situation.

Ty Lawson was the best PG on the floor tonight. He stepped up big. But what irritates me is that why would a point guard ever take 30 shots in a game? You will never catch Rajon Rondo taking 30 shots in the playoffs or not even in a celebrity game.

Yeah Westbrook shouldn’t be taking that many shots. He pulled a monta elias i guess. KD is the clear closer of the team. Also by the way Rondo needs a jumper before he can even attempt 30 shots a game

The lost this game and Westbrook does need to find more balance with his scoring but hey everyone knew coming in that he was a combo and more a scorer than a true point guard.  You can say the same thing for Rose.  That is why Paul and Deron Williams are still the best point guards.  They can score ,pass, defend, and rebound.  They also make their teammate light years better.

True Westbrook is a combo but even he should know better to give durant the ball, the best player on the team

btw is anyone else impressed by Serge Ibaka’s play in the playoffs.

rondo doesnt take 30 shots because he cant shoot westbrook is having a big series one game where he takes as many shots rose takes every other night cant be too much of a negative thing you are all find something to blame a loss on thunder arent going to win every game… westbrook has been a major reason they have been winning so relax…………

True glm, but anyone who watched the game will tell you the reason the Thunder lost tonight was because of Westbrook. How many times did he race down the floor and brick that pull up three? It completely messed with the flow of the game, and was irresponsible considering the shooting touch Durant had that second half. It’s not the regular season any more were a lose is just one out of 82. Losing actually matters now.

I couldn’t believe Westbrook put up that airball with 6 seconds to go, that was plenty of time to find Durant, who I have no doubt would have made it. Durant’s first game-winner came this season, and I’m starting to realise Westbrook might be the reason it took that long. Russ is getting too aggressive with his scoring, Durant needs to be a leader and put him in his place.

I love Westbrook and he is my favorite PG

But tonight he took some dumb A$$ shots, like someone said he would just race down the court and pull up, or he would go into the lane with 2 or 3 defenders around him and try to force a lay-up, then miss it and get mad no foul was called.

Yes he is good, very good, but he sometimes plays wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to out of control, he looks so wild sometimes.

But he is a big reason they are up 3-1, and he was a big reason they didn’t sweep the Nuggets as well.

I think in general he needs to take fewer shots.  He used a higher percentage of his teams possesions when he was on the floor than Durant.  He is a great player, but he could do to improve his decision making still.

Wow.  You wouldn’t be cool with your PG going 100% from the field and dropping 60?  If your going 100% from the field, Im fine with you taking as many shots as you want regardless of position.  Hell if your going 100% from the field, I wouldn’t want him passing anyway.  I’d just be pissed he only took enough shots to drop 60.

Westbrooks game management has not developed all that much since his rookie year.  He relies very heavily on his athleticism to beat opposing PG’s. What kind of PG will he be at 31-32?  Obviously he could change up his game as his athleticism declines but there’s no guarantee he ever figures it out.  No Durant on OKC, then 30 shots might be necessary… sorta like Rose is forced to do.

I was looking at the highlights and TC_42 said everything I was thinking. I’m confused as to why he kept pulling up for 3’s. He’s not a true shooter like Durant, who made his only 3 in the closing moments with ease and scored 31 points on 18 shots. Definitely bad decision making by Westbrook.

He was totally ball hogging last night but he is just as much the reason they were in position to sweep as durant. Nobody is talking about rose shooting 22 shots per game or 7 threes per game but want to get on westbrook for 1 bad game. People can be so biased on this site nobody is saying how boozer is only getting 12 shots per game. Westbrook is a star play now so he will have a game like this just like many other stars have just as Rose shot 22 times for 15 points

Since when is Boozer the Bulls number one? Or anywhere near Durant? Also Boozer is shooting like 37% and playing horrific defense. Rose also led them to 3 wins at the end of the game and carried them for two games and has a sprained ankle (hence the 15 points on 22 shots, and probably hurt their chances of coming back in that game). Westbrook took shots from someone better then him, no one on the Bulls is better then Rose.

The different roles Rose and Westbrook have mean any comparison between them is meaningless; Rose is one of the better closers in the game, Westbrook isn’t supposed to be their closer at all. I hope this OKC thing doesn’t blow up because of Westbrook’s big head, I’d almost like to see Maynor handle the ball in closing minutes, because he manages the team better and isn’t going to throw up a shot like that.

It’s ironic because some of the people on here were saying Westbrook was more clutch or possibly better than Durant when Westbrook was having that run during the season. Westbrook is top 5 in offensive usage when Durant is not. This is the type of player Westbrook is… Gotta take the good with the bad.

This is 1 game it’s not game 7 of the finals and for the thunder to make it to the championship they need an aggressive westbrook not one thats passive. Remember he was the player killing the lakers last year not durant he took some bad shots last night if he would have made them we would be talking about he is the thunders closer the answer is they have 2 closers

I wasn’t suprised with Westbrook’s shot selection… He’s been like that his entire career thus far.

He forces the issue… Overpenetrates. Doesn’t always hit the open man and looks for his own shot more often than he should. He plays selfish at times. He’s not a natural point guard.

god i get so pissed off every time i see westbrook take a shot in the 4th…. he had ONE good play at the end of that game where he drove in for the layup… hes a bad 3pt shooter and durant needs to tell him to either drive it in and get a foul or pass to him… he has no business taking jumpshots at the end of any game..

Westbrook isn’t good enough shooting the 3 for attempting all those shots.  Let Durant and Harden take the 3’s.

For the record…that was a horrible shot he took…it kind of looked as if it was in direct defiance. Plus I don’t know what he was thinking, Durant was red hot, very bad decision on Westbrooks part.
