jerb2011ParticipantNo it is not another "who’s better" thread. I am asking for player comparisons. They all play so similar, who do they remind you of?

I May Be WrongParticipantWestbrook – Reminds of an athletic Gary Payton. He plays defense so viciously, rebounds well for his size, and can get others involved.
Rose – A more complete Steve Francis? Steve francis was good in his prime but never really was a great assist man. He was solid. I think Derrick Rose has been stellar with his passing abilities this season and he’s already amazing finishing around the rim (espeically with those up and under layups)
Wall – A slashing version of Rajon Rondo. He penetrates very well and gets other Wizards easier shots for a rookie. Add that with his stealing ability off the ball, i see some comparisons to Rondo. Not to mention their jumpers are suspect lol

Im Your FatherParticipantI like the other two comparisons, but "A slashing version of Rajon Rondo?" What else is Rondo? A shooter?

I May Be WrongParticipantI always had a mindset that a slasher was someone who can dunk on someone easily or at least draw a foul. I know rondo mostly gets his points on layups (every once in a while a nice little slam) but I see Wall always go in and never gets afraid to take a hit and get to the line. How Rondo and Wall get their points aren’t similar but I think a lot of other things they do are similar

MuggsyParticipantSlasher is generally defined as someone who takes it to the hole on a large number of their attempts. Doesn’t necessarily have to mean an elite dunker. But I understood what you meant.

I May Be WrongParticipantI have good thoughts, I just have a hard time wording them sometimes haha

Im Your FatherParticipantI get what you’re saying though, a more explosive version of Rondo. That’s reasonable, except for I think he will be even better, because while he isn’t a great shooter, his jump shot is no where near as broken as Rondo’s.

I May Be WrongParticipantI think he will be a better shooter (I believe he went 2-4 from 3 point line a couple of nights ago so the potential is there) … Rondo’s jumper is ehhhhh at best BUT i was watching the HORSE competition from a couple years back against Durant and he was hitting all his jumpers that night. I had to laugh because I couldn’t believe he was hitting them haha

jerb2011ParticipantWhat about Kevin Durant, I really can’t think of anybody he reminds me of.

Im Your FatherParticipantT-mac? I mean there games aren’t exactly alike, but there are definitely some similarities there.

MuggsyParticipantA taller Reggier Miller? May be a bit of a reach but that’s what I thought of off top my head.

SteroidParticipantMiller has never been a potent scorer like Durant has been even though Durant is still young in his career. Miller is the better shooter though and Miller has been more clutch than Durant has been up to this point, obviously…
I think Wall and Rondo are similar because Wall has been filling up the stat sheet like Rondo up to this point, but Rondo is a much more efficient player and smarter. Wall does have more potential though through his athleticism and scoring ability.

StF616ParticipantThe Thing Is, All Of These Guys are the examples of the "new wave" of point guards in the nba, i dont think weve ever seen point guards in the NBA this athletic. They are really their own players And If i do have to compare them, i really can just compare them to each other. Everytime i watch john wall i see him as a mix of Westbrook ANd DRose Or maybe a point guard version of dwayne wade.
Kevin Durant Is More George Gervin, T-Mac is A Good COmparison but people forget that t-mac is also a very good passer and averaged 5-7 assists a game at his prime.
