is insanely explosive off the dribble.  Last night, it literally looked like the Lakers were going in slow motion when he accelerated to the rim.  I can’t really remember anybody in recent memory that is as explosive off the dribble as Westbrook.  I don’t even know if a healthy Rose is as explosive as Westbrook has become.  Nobody on the Lakers have even come close to containing him and there is probably nobody on this planet that could keep Russell in front of them.

I’ve never seen anybody as explosive off of the hesitation dribble or changing directions as I have Rose when he was 100% healthy.

Westbrook is explosive in a different way though. His first step is scary. He may cover a little more ground than Rose… His stride is bigger or something.

Both freaks whenever you get through with it.

Yeah, I agree with Indybasketball.  Rose is, or at least was, quicker, but Westbrook has superior straight line speed.  When he starts going downhill, he is extremely difficult to stop.  That is one reason why he is so effective as a pg, because he can take it coast to coast better than anyone else.

I can’t agree with Sixersman111. He can’t spell the word "time"

They’re extremely similar freaks. Rose has the better system, Westbrook the better teammates.

Too bad Rose doesn’t use his freakish athleticism and strength on the defensive end like Westbrook.

Nobody in the NBA goes from 0 to 100 in the half court better than Westbrook i’m sorry not even Rose.

It’s a difference between quickness and explosiveness.

Westbrook is more explosive off the dribble than Rose, I think they are both equal quickness wise, I just think Westbrook is a little more explosive than Rose.

I’m positive we could go back and forth and post their dunks, but I still think Westbrook takes off faster than Rose, First step to the basket and exploding for a dunk.

It’s not even about the dunks…

When Rose breaks people down and explodes off of the dribble, there’s usually nobody in front of him.

I love when Westbrook boxes out his guy, secures a defensive rebound, blows by everyone, stops on a dime from 18 feet, sets his feet, elevates, and calmly strokes a beautiful shot. It looks so easy.

That said, I still prefer Kevin Durant. That dude was "fearfully and wonderfully made" specifically to score the basketball, if you’re into quoting Psalm 139!

Watching Parker and Westbrook go at it will be fun.

CP3 was hampered by teammates that couldn’t get it done outside of Griffin.

This matchup will be great and both are playing well too.

Westbrook is on a different level. He can’t even dunk on people because he gets there so fast they don’t have time to jump. It is insane.

In terms of end to end quickness don’t forget about John Wall, the dude is a blur with the ball in his hands.

What amazes me most about Westbrook is that the guy can drop 20-30 regularly without consistancy on his shooting from 3 point range. Just speaks to how explosive, quick and deceptive the guy is with the ball in his hands. Rose can be put in the same category.

End to end speed Ty Lawson won that battle already in my book, he’s the fastest dude in the L to me, or maybe it’s just because he’s little, IDK but he looks the fastest.

Far as the half court game goes, first step to the rim, explosiveness and all that good stuff, I think Westbrook is the top PG when it comes to speed and quickness in the half court set, he just accelarates soooo fast man.
