HobbyOGParticipantThis could get interesting..read in another article he wants to play with Kyrie in the East..
All-Star shooting guard Jimmy Butler reportedly has "no intentions" of signing a contract extension with the Minnesota Timberwolves, due to issues with his teammates.
According to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, Butler is "all but fed up with the nonchalant attitude of his younger teammates," specifically center Karl-Anthony Towns.
Butler has one year remaining on his contract before he can decline his player option and become a free agent in 2019.
The 28-year-old Butler was traded to the T’Wolves last offseason after spending the first six seasons of his career with the Chicago Bulls.

SubZeroParticipantAs a UK guy I love KAT but it doesn’t seem like he’s been putting in as much effort as he could, which is especially evident on defense. He and Wiggins need to get it together, because they’re wasting so much potential individually and for the team

negguaryParticipantwith jimmy I get it, bro g a winning culture whip the young boys into Shape, but literally these last two years Jimmy has acted like a weirdo senior that picks on freshman. From his time with the bulls his last season where rondo had to speak up The young guys to his time last year this guy has acted like he’s won three chips and like he’s above the young guys like dude you’ve never been pass the second round!!

OhCanada-ParticipantJimmy has always been a weirdo. I question his leadership skills. Seems every time he wants his teammates to work hard it gets out to the media.

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantI agree. One of my unspoken rules is never trust a African American country music fan.

Scrooge McDuckParticipantI’d actually trust anyone more if they were a country music fan, including asians. That has nothing to do with Jimmy Butlers odd personality

GlenTaylorSucksParticipantI don’t think it’s that he’s not putting in effort; he’s gotten SO much better since he came in the NBA. I think his talents were misread- people thought he was gonna be the next Brow when he has a game that’s really eerily similar to Dirk Nowitzki. He has shown he can dominate for a consistent period of time- there was a stretch between December and January where he looked like a top 10 player in the league based on his dominance on both ends of the court. It take a while for bigs to learn how to read defenses, especially in the current NBA where bigs have to be more mobile and savvy than ever thanks to offenses like GSW and Houston. The guy’s only 22; he’s gonna be fine.
I think the bigger long-term concern is that he needs a coach who can unlock the versatility he has, and Thibs is not that guy. There’s a clip floating around on twitter/instagram where someone filmed Thibodeau screaming “YOU STUPID MF’ER” at KAT. People need positive reinforcement to become better; Thibs sounds like a miserable person to play for.

GlenTaylorSucksParticipant1) Jimmy Buckets is a great basketball player. However, this is the second time hes’s been on a team and alienated himself from his teammates. The understanding when trading for him was that he’d be a positive influence on Wiggins and KAT, especially Wiggins. KAT and Wiggins are 22 and 23, respectively.
2) If Butler doesn’t have the leadership skills or patience to bring them along, then the Wolves ought to trade him now.
3) Ever since Thibs came to Minny, the team chemistry has gone to shit. Thibs signed what feels like over half his old Bulls team, and played his starters 40ish min a night, at the expense of guys who were doing pretty well in Tyus, Bjelica, and Dieng. There is a stark divide between the Thibs “If you spend a minute thinking about anything other than basketball, I will berate you and break you until you do” camp, and the guys who want to play with a somewhat more carefree attitude-notably including KAT. Its a matter of time before it comes to a head, and if ownership has to choose between KAT and Thibs, Thibs should be shown the door.

cohenbc1ParticipantThibs should be shown the door anyway, and never coach in the NBA again. He’s a career killer whose teams perpetually fade down the stretch of seasons and in the playoffs.
He would make a great college coach at some overlooked school like U of Minnesota, where he could recruit a bunch of white boys from the country who will never make the NBA, and convince them to play like their lives depend on the outcome. Kinda like a modern-day Bobby Knight.

cohenbc1ParticipantI don’t like being one of those guys who posts random trades from the Trade Machine on here, but I think I just solved a bunch of problems.
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ydfx86oh
Minnesota fixes their locker-room issues and gets a potential star on roughly the same timeline as KAT and Wiggins.
Philly gets their third superstar without giving up any of the core that just won 50+ games.
San Antonio can plug a guy who is maybe 80% as good as Kawhi into Kawhi’s spot. And he won’t find many guys on the Spurs who don’t care about winning.
You’re welcome, NBA!

GlenTaylorSucksParticipantI think for a rough framework that’s okay, but no way in hell Pop goes for that. They’d need one of Philly’s picks and a chance to dump bad contracts as well as maybe one or two of the various rooks that have been drafted. I’d take that if I were Philly or MN though!

goddagParticipantIt would be a terrible trade for MN. The machine rates the trade as a -13 wins for MN after this trade. It would have to be better than that. There will be plenty of teams lining up if MN acutually wants to trade Butler. Houston, LA, Boston, to name a few.

GlenTaylorSucksParticipantWay I see it, Wolves can afford to lose now and develop young guys; realistically, who’s beating the Warriors (or the Lakers) in the next 5 years in the West? I’d rather have the Wolves take their time and develop properly with a Fultz/Wiggins/Towns core and be good once the current guard starts declining/exiting their primes. That’s why as a Wolves fan, I would be just fine with losing 11 more games w/o Butler.

marcusfizer21ParticipantEverybody talks about how Jimmy has gone from the last pick in the first round in 2011, to an improved player and then went on to become an All-Star caliber player… Amazing and all. But what people hadn’t talk about is this certain shift of attitude Jimmy has been displaying ever since he became one of the top players in the league. Yes, he says all the right things in the media but what we don’t see behind close doors is what I am talking about. He is acting like a diva out there, has become a little more cocky than he should be and has a tendency to bully teammates that fails to meet his standards.
