    http://www.slamonline.com/nba/hawks-thunder-discussing-carmelo-anthony-dennis-schroder-trade/

Would be a good move for the Hawks, they’ll just buyout Melo, but to get that terrible Dennis Schroder contract off the books and  is a plus. I’m sure they’ll also get like a 2nd round pick or something.

For OKC I don’t know what the hell they’re doing if they make this trade. As a Hawks fan, Dennis is terrible! He can’t shoot can’t create and has a bad attitude. Why would they waste money on a backup point guard with these attributes? I can see Russ wanting to whip his azz..

There has to be a third team involved here as schroder makes absolutely no sense for okc, from a contractual or basketball fit perspective.

In Presti We Trust so I’m not too worried, like ^ said there should most definitely be a 3rd team. Hopefully we’ve learned our lesson from Reggie Jackson

Who would want him though? The Suns and Magic are both in the market for a starting PG and Schroder’s made it perfectly clear that he wants to start

I was hoping we trade DS for TJ Warren..They have too many SF’s and the salaries match up.

If OKC is to avoid buying out Carmelo, which also shedding tax money, then Atlanta is really the only option left. Taking back Schroder doesn’t get them all the way clear on the money for this year, but would be an improvement. Re-routing Schroder elsewhere is still problematic because rebuilding teams aren’t going to want to add money to their cap for 2019-20. It limits the teams, and possible return. Would Detroit swap Ish Smith and Langston Galloway? Would OKC go for it to then shed a little more money?

At least OKC has a chance of moving Schroeder on. No one is taking Melo.

I don’t know why more players and teams go for contracts that balloon at the start then decline in value. Maybe cos of the cap, but it’d it’d make more sense. The player gets the same money, it’s makes them easier to deal later for teams if it goes south, plus  former all star level guys like Melo would not go through the degradation of being tossed around like a journeyman. There would be teams interested if he made 7 instead of 27.

It looks like this is about to be official now. Melo will be waived and likely end up in Houston which will fit his style of play but the team won’t improve much.

Maybe Russ plays off the ball a little more for OKC which could benefit their squad. PG-13 needs more touches and no Melo and less Russ ball handling will bring that.

Well it’ now official Carmelo for Schroeder and Muscala!

Camelo to the Rockets and Muscala to the Sixers for TL Cabbarrot.

And Justin anderson to the Hawks!

There cannot be many takers for Schroeder if the Melo deal is the best Hawks can get.

It’s apparently Schroeder and Mike Muscala for Melo and a protected 2022 first rounder.

The Hawks clear Schroeder’s remaining 3 years on his deal for taking on Melo’s remaining year, they will agree his buyout so will have future cap space going forward.

If the Thunder can utliize Schroeder they have got a decent player who could lead their 2nd unit or they look to move him on for other assets.
