anybody recently read about his success in stepping up his game this summer? i read comments from him saying he loves memphis and wants to stay…and it’s where he can make things happen for the grizzlies, and himself. i also read he put 15 pounds of muscle on this summer…making him 6’8 240pound machine now. he wants to be strong and big enough to go into the post, which he was being pushed around last year. he also wants to continue improving at the wing, which it also looks like he has. i know it’s his contract year basically, so his game will be stepped up all around, but i believe mr. gay will stay with the grizz.

with improvements in his game over the summer, he is very much capable of contending for a spot on the all-star team.

    my thoughts on gay’s season

    19.8ppg, 7.2rpg, 2.3apg, 1.6bpg, 1.2spg, 2.9t.opg, 46FG%, 38-3pt%, 81.2FT%. 82g

most likely not enough to make the allstar team in a crowded talented west conference…let alone with anthony and durant easily ahead of him

I expect a nice solid season for him, and I think the stats are on track.

when you weigh 220 as it is, and you workout all summer long and claim that you’ve put 15 pounds of muscle…it’s very close to 240. how can you garuntee something you don’t know for sure?

Ok…Well…220+15=235? Anyways, that besides the point. Gay will have a good year, but I don’t see him being an all-star anytime soon.

i’m sorry i rounded up 5 pounds. i’m sorry it bothers you that much to disagree about something so pointless.

like i said, he’ll contend, but with anthony and durant so far ahead of him, he wont’ make it.

i’d say rudy’s a few years out before making the allstar team. who knows, he could go in by default due to injuries of other players…look at how mo williams got in.

    09-10 – 19.8ppg, 7.2rpg, 2.3apg, 1.6bpg, 1.2spg, 2.9t.opg, 46FG%, 38-3pt%, 81.2FT%. 82g

    10-11 – 21.2ppg, 7.2rpg, 3.1apg, 1.4bpg, 1.3 spg, 3.2t.opg, 47FG%, 38-3pt%, 84.2FT% – ?g

    11-12 – 22.4ppg, 8.2rpg, 3.4apg, 1.6bpg, 1.6spg, 3.2t.opg, 48FG%, 40-3pt%, 84.6FT% -?g

i’m expecting the grizz to make the playoffs in 2011-2012. until then, it’s growing pains and gelling together. i’m not GARUNTEEING like some people would, it’s just of my expectations.

Will make the playoffs in 11-12? How? Last time I checked other teams aren’t going anywhere. You have Denver, Portland, Utah, Lakers, Phoenix, San Antonio, Dallas, New Orleans. That’s 8 right there and that’s not including other teams with bright futures such as Oklahoma, Golden State, Phoenix and the Clippers.

you have a lot of holes in your argument. if amare’ isn’t with phoenix, their run is over for 2-3 years. and btw, they didn’t make it last year…..because amare’ wasn’t there…DUH.

if utah can’t bring d-will any help, and boozer gets traded or walks…utah could be done as well.

another thing, if dirk gets really p!ssed off from another disapointing post season, he could very well opt out at the end of 09-10…..

i understand the growing talents in OKC, and GS…but you can’t just say that and not think memphis isn’t just as talented as them…

Really? How is Utah done? D-Will and Boozer can lead their team to the playoffs by themselves…Not to mention that they have Millsap, some good role players and a HOF coach.

That’s true about Amare…Yes, he is probably as good as gone, but I still think Nash is the heart and soul of that team…And as long as Nash, Hill and Barbosa stay healthy they will always have a chance.

Why would Dirk get pissed? They got past the first round last year and they actually have a really stable team with good pieces. What makes you think they’d leave?

I agree, Memphis is very talented, but that doesn’t mean anything. Looking at their roster, they have a lot of players who need the ball to be effective and I’m not sure how well their team chemistry is…I also think Hasheem Thabeet is not going to ever be the player the Grizz think he will be. That will hurt them as well.

Nash in 3 years isn’t leading my Suns anywhere. He will be too old man. Dirk in 3 years won’t be so special either.

there you go runnin your mouth about d-will and boozer in 2011-2012? you serious? boozer obviously wants a trade now…and if he doesn’t get traded…he’ll be waiting to leave at the end of the year.

As long as D-Will stays I think they will be alright. They still have Millsap who proved that he is a capable starter and then some at the PF position.

gay averages 7-8 rebounds per game. Gay runs away from rebounds to try to get easy fast break pts.

San Antonio’s getting up there in age, too. They won’t be competing in 2011-2012 with their current roster. I know they wanna keep that core, but it’s time to think about the future.

BTW, yupyup, congrats on 1,000 points. I know alot of you guys don’t really care about points, but that is pretty impressive…..to me, at least.

Nobody knows who will make the playoffs 3 years from now a trade could happen Duncan, Kobe, Nash, Dirk, etc… could retire and there teams could go into rebuilding mode so its very dumb to say a team cant make the playoffs in 3 years espeacialy a young upcoming team.

I just said how will they make it when there are so many good teams in the west and plenty of teams who are just as talented as Memphis.

near the beginning of summer, there was an article about how gay was working on rebounding. the man averaged over 6 in 07-08. to just say no way..and be so sure about it without research, sigh.

AK-47 added 25 pounds of muscle this offseason… Just saying…

The Utah Jazz are always overlooked. People forget that they are young, talented and well-disciplined. Chemistry has never been an issue, and I highly doubt Boozer will throw them off. Karl Malone was always complaining and wanted to be traded but all of that worked out. The Jazz are too classy to lose their playoff position because of one player.

D-Will has enough help. Memo has been an all-star and Millsap was a bubble all-star last season. Kirilenko is a former all-star and Ronnie Brewer, CJ Miles and Kosta Koufos are loaded with potential. Kyle Korver, Eric Maynor, Ronnie Price and Matt Harpring are all very good role players.

I’m not hating on the Grizzlies but there is no way that they are better than the Jazz any time soon. Mayo and Gay are both have all-star talent but they do not gel together well at all. 25 wins is a generous estimate for the Grizzlies this season. They are currently in the gutter with the Warriors (sorry Gator), Kings (sorry Spence), Thunder, T’Wolves and Clippers.
