Ben Golliver: Rudy Fernandez says life in the NBA: "It’s too hard for me, the distance" from home in Spain. Twitter
Joe Freeman: Rudy says he plans to talk to GM Rich Cho in the next day or two and ask for his release. Cho says the Blazers will not release his rights. Twitter
Joe Freeman: Rudy already has talked to LaMarcus Aldridge and Brandon Roy to explain his situation and says both were supportive. Twitter
"It’s going to be our job to make him feel more welcome," Roy said. "We don’t want to leave him on an island." Roy said his understanding is that Fernandez is homesick to play in Spain, and he gets that. But Roy also said he believes Portland is better with the Spaniard playing. Oregonian

The real question I want to ask is,
If the Suns kept his rights and brought him over, do you think things would’ve been different?
He’s an atheltic slasher who can shoot the ball, sounds like he’d be perfect in the Suns offense.
I’m disappointed he wants out of the NBA, a real talent going to waste, but if he’s serious about being homesick I can understand…
& I’m disappointed at the Blazers GM… Just release him already, if he lies and signs with a nother team (which I highly doubt) then too bad. I’m sick of this story already..
Just informing you all on the latest if you haven’t already heard.0 - Posted on: Mon, 09/27/2010 - 2:17pm #406938

RickyRubio9ParticipantJust in case you want to watch him basically kill his trade value and whatnot.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI’ve always had my doubts about Rudy. He’s been anti-social and hasn’t really bonded well with the coaches or his teammates since he’s been in Portland. That was obvious to me when he chose Pau Gasol, a Laker, instead of one of his Blazer teammates to assist him in the dunk contest. He’s homesick because he hasn’t tried hard enough to embrace his teammates. I’m sick of him pouting and complaining all of the time.
With the way Rudy has gone about this, there’s NO WAY I’d just release him. I’d hold onto him until I got the best value trade. This is a business. I’d let his ass rot for hurting his trade value.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantAs crazy as I might sound, I’d still take Rudy Fernandez.
When I saw him play, he had something special. He could be a starter I believe but he’s a amazing 6th, 7th man too. I think Portland should go and allow him to leave and try to have the NBA eliminate him from allowing him to reenter the NBA (or ban him)

I remember that, wasn’t it a tribute for the 1st ever Spainish NBA player?

IndianaBasketballParticipantHe wore Martin’s jersey as a tribute. He picked Pau Gasol as his teammate just because he wanted to.
