Jr. ROXASParticipantOkay, pretty odd no one has made a forum topic about this yet but…. Rudy Gobert with 20 FREAKIN REBOUNDS in 21 minutes. It’s a preseason game but it’s not like their playing the 6ers or anything. Paul Blake and DJ still played about 30 mins for LA.
Gobert’s a monster. Everytime he has a game like this I jump immediately to the hype train again and wish that he starts over Kanter. I’ve been high on Kanter for some years now but after a pretty dissapointing 2013-2014 season, I think I’m higher now on Gobert. The guy’s just so mobile and agile for a guy that huge. I honestly think he’s one of the fastest centers in the NBA.
Hope he turns out at least like Roy Hibbert, with better rebounding of course. Also hope the guy somehow gets some good playing time to show himself out on a larger audience.

prophetmeirParticipantSo would you let Kanter go in a trade ? Utah and these big men

Jr. ROXASParticipantExactly my question for the Jazz front office. If I’m right, Kanter will be a free agent after this season so it’s a contract year for him. If he proves doubters wrong a plays to his potential, which is an excellent post player, then maybe I’d think of resigning him.
Realistically, he and Favors ahould compliment each other well since both have very reliable midrange games and both can control the boards like crazy. I remember when those two played behind Al Jeff and Milsap they were absolute galss eaters down the block. They gobbled up almost every offensive board. If Kanter relies to much on his jumper (I’ve heard he been working on his 3’s) and strays from his strengths which is low post play and offensive rebounding, I doubt he will have a very impressive year.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI watched a lot of this game and I don’t care that it was pre-season… 20 rebounds in 21 minutes is impressive.
He’s more of an energy big right now, but I really like his upside. I didn’t realize he was so fast. He runs the court like a deer. He’s more athletic/agile than I thought too. He’s not skilled offensively, but they’d just throw it up and he’d go get it. He needs to bulk up, but his length alone makes an impact at the defensive end.
The Clippers were really picking on Exum last night lol. I liked how Exum didn’t seem to lose confidence and kept battling, but they were really picking on him by playing him physical, getting into and just pressuring him. He needs to become a better ball handler. He’s a soft dribbler.

Chilbert arenasParticipantHold up, you mention Gobert might be one of the fastest centers in the league but then bring up Roy Hibbert comparison in the next sentence?

Jr. ROXASParticipantI meant have an improvement over seasons like Roy Hibbert, and have the same defensive impact as he did. I see Gobert’s career going the way Hibbert’s did, starting off as an extremely raw 7 footer but developing a reliable offensive skillset to go with elite defensive presence. If you want another comparison, maybe Marcus Camby as a best case scenario.

Captain LParticipantIt is a little early to want to trade Kanter, I love what Gobert is showing but he needs to keep it up and having all 3 bigs, Favors, Kanter & Gobert is great and I hope we keep all 3. Gobert is showing impressive signs but is just scratching the service of what he can be, it will be fun to see him continue to improve. I’m really impressed with what coach Snyder is trying to do and also impressed with how the young kids are doing what he is teaching them.

TRC1991ParticipantKanter might get moved at the trade deadline.

OhCanada-ParticipantI would look to move Kanter for more of a stretch combo tweener prospect to compliment the team better and gaurd perimeter oriented fours. Not saying it would be a fair swap for Kanter but a guy like Derrick Williams or Anthony Bennett could really fit in well with Favors and Gobert not to mention with Burke and Exum running pick and rolls pick and pops and plenty of capable slashers and shooters on the wing.

TheLastWordParticipantIf it aint broke don’t try and fix it. The Jazz are finally getting some chemistry with their starters and Kanter does look like he’ll eventually hit the three at 35%. Gobert anchors the second unit defense and that unit is a big reason their 3-0 in early play. No need to move Kanter.

CU.LIONSParticipantI am happy for Gobert and his potential huge improvements. Not because I am a Utah fan, but more because it is nice to finally see a Big-man project develop and maybe even surpass expectations. Still has lots more to go, but it does appear he is headed in the right direction.
It’s too bad my team (Boston) couldn’t develop their project (Fab Melo) drafted and cut already from 2 years ago.

Captain LParticipantIf they do try to trade Kanter I could see them doing it at the draft and trying to move up to get a young player the like and think would be a good fit.
