Michael.S.Participant1)Kahn trades Telfair to open up a spot a PG
2)Kahn travels to Spain to negotiate Rubio’s buyout so he can play this year

llperezI can kinda understand the Love/Jaefferson combo even though they are both pf’s who play under the rim and could’nt block a shot if their lives depended on it. But for them to think that Flynn and Rubio can both play and develop together in the backcourt is just crazy.

xbadgerhustlerParticipantLL, I donno if it’s that far out there…. the Wolves are going to be running next year so they can probably use two guys out there to grab KLove’s outlets…Also consider that there are 48 minutes at PG and I don’t think that either guy will play much more than 30 mins their rookie year so that’s only about 12 minutes of overlapping time, and as far as the twolves go….. who cares about next season.
it’s kinda like Jet and JKidd down in Dallas though.

knicksfreakParticipantI dont know how the Wolves can be about running next year when 2 of their starters arent exactly athletic specimens. I see your point about Love’s outlets but I compare Jefferson to Brand and look how well he fared in an uptempo offense.

xbadgerhustlerParticipantthe whole point of running is to get down the court before all the big guys get back so that the defense isn’t set. if Al doesn’t make it back down the floor off a miss, that means the opposing big is also probably behind halfcourt… i donno if that’s necessarily the best strategy since Al is the best player on the court, but if that’s what they decide to do, that’s what they decide to do.
Kahn is trying to sell tickets at this point, not win a whole lotta basketball games. He has his eyes on the 2010 lottery.

knicksfreakParticipantI see what you mean that mostly wing players are involved on the break but bigs that can run are a huge part of an running team. Look how successful Philly was when Brand got hurt and they used the run and gun.

xbadgerhustlerParticipantI kinda think they had more success because they got used to running that system and not necessarily because brand got injured. It definitely helps to have athletic bigs to get out there though….
i’d also attribute a lot of their success to how much thad young improved. the kid was stellar. i donno, im not saying the wolves will win with that strategy, but if rubio and flynn play together i think that’d probably be their best shot. we’ll have to see. i wish we had someone like thad young

llperezRubio and Flynn will be their best shot next season because the wolves suck and those dudes can both create points. But long term, I don’t see either of those guys flourishing by playing off the ball. I think it is a bad combo personally.

xbadgerhustlerParticipantlong-term i agree it’s a bad idea, but who knows? they’re both young and i think each’s biggest weakness is their shooting, which can be improved. maybe flynn coming off the bench as the 6th man, ala JET?
and, i think they’re both going to be good players so, worst comes to worse (is that the saying? or is it worse comes to worst?) we trade one of our assets

bballdave3ParticipantI’m ready to see some Rubio to Flynn alley oops next year, don’t know if the pairing will work long term but I know if Rubio does play this season I’m going to be hyped to see some T’wolves games, I don’t think anyones said that since Latrell, Sam I Am, and KG were gettin the Wolve’s to the Western Conference finals.

knicksfreakParticipantRubio might not even play for Minny. He is a very valuable trade commodity.

xbadgerhustlerParticipantu mean you weren’t excited to see rodney carney, brian cardinal and jason collins play significant minutes last year?! disappointing. lol

RickyRubio9ParticipantKnicksfreak would say he might not play in Minny.
Are you Knicks Fans hoping that he is traded to the Knicks now?0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/21/2009 - 10:14am #186268

knicksfreakParticipantNo I’m not holding my breath. I did for a while but not any more. I think if Minny could get back a great young wing player he could be moved. I doubt they drafted Flynn and Rubio to play together.

xbadgerhustlerParticipantyea, Kahn seems like a sleezy liar to me, but a sleezy liar who gets stuff done. of course he’s going to say that they can play together, my only hope is that he’s right… or that he trades one of them before everyone else in the NBA realizes they can’t play together and we lose all leverage

crazyknicksfanParticipanti think the timberwolves should just trade rubio and keep flynn as the starting pg
