druchrisParticipantRoyce White’s game, to me, is very similar to the game of former 2nd overall pick Michael Beasley. Matter of fact Royce White’s game is better than Beasley’s game because Royce actually knows theres more to the game of basketball besides jackin’ up shots and scoring points.
From what I’ve seen, his decision-making is probably Top 5 in this draft regardless of position and his jumpshot is smooth and fluid. I think Royce can be a poor mans Lebron James (lol) in a sense. Being able to intiate offenses and also be a scoring threat with his size (6’8 260 lbs), tight handle and smooth footwork. His combination of size and handle with his ability to facilitate, and also guard and score in the post is very reminiscent of the efficient game LeBron James now plays.
That may seem like a stretch but he seems to be both an intelligent and hardnosed player, which will be beneficial to his NBA transition, but I think with a more defined frame he could gain more foot speed and explosiveness. But even without any drastic changes to his game he is still one of the most talented players among the draftees and seems to me underrated if you really judge off what a complete player plays like, in addition to potential to improve.

ChewyParticipantwhen everyone was looking for the next Jordan: JR Rider, Harold Minor, Kobe Bryant, Grant Hill ect
Now everyone is trying to find the next Lebron… There was only one Jordan and there is only one Lebron

r377ParticipantI like Royce alot too. I think what the original poster is trying to say is that his STYLE is similar to lebron james, he never said he is the next lebron.
They have a similar build, great handle and can get to the hoop. Lebron can finish better than Royce. Both are great passers also

DolanCareParticipantThe comparisons are pruddy wack, but I too agree that Royce is underrated. I think he would be a perfect fit for the Mavs. Even though they will probably go with Marshall or T Jones, I can see Royce fitting in with the rest of the introverts on that sqaud.
During the Mavs’ championshop push, many columnists were talking about how quiet the team was. Dirk is not very chatty, Shawn Marion is apparently soft spoken. Now they have bi-polar space cadet Delonte West, and lost their only verbal leader in Tyson Chandler. This squad seems perfect for someone with an anxiety disorder.

PulseGlazerParticipantRoyce needs the right team – I hope Boston ends up with him. He’ll end up a minor star there.

ChewyParticipantHe’s comparing Royce and Beasely. Not very well, but still thats what he was doing.

HotSnotParticipantI actually think Royce’s OCD disorder helps his game. In his mind everything has to be perfect and there are “lines” that must be used when he plays. Its probably why he’s such a pinpoint passer.

Brew Meister SmithParticipantLet’s face it. Right now the anxiety issues are a huge factor here. He is likely going mid-late first round regardless. Without the question marks (which are legitamate considering the strains of a pro career) he might be a mid-late lottery player and would be getting much more attention and scrutiny as a high prospect. So I’m not sure underrated is exactly accurate.
But I agree…I’d love to see him in Boston next year, just as a lot of people would love to see him on their team.
Really hope things for for him in the pros.

TRC1991Participantyeah its a terrible comparison… michael beasley was so smooth and had a great midrange game while white is definitely a point forward

PulseGlazerParticipantChad ford keeps saying Anthony Mason. I think a faster Mason is a great comparison. If he defends anything like Mason he’s the steal of the draft.
